“We were gone for a week and our pets were well taken care of. Mary would visit once a week for a few weeks before we left to let the dogs get used to her. This helped tremendously! She sent daily updates and pics. We will definitely use her again when we go away. It removes a giant burden knowing our pets are well cared for while we’re gone.”

About: I’ve been surrounded by dogs my entire life and currently care for a GSP and German Shepherd of my own. I understand that every dog is unique and treat every pet like family, providing plenty of exercise, attention, and love. I’m also very active and love being outdoors, so your pup can expect plenty of exercise, playtime, and engagement. From energetic dogs who love to explore to senior dogs who prefer a slower pace, I’m comfortable adapting to whatever makes your pet happiest and most comfortable. Why Pet Parents Choose Me 🐾 Lifelong dog owner with experience caring for multiple breeds 🐾 Current dog mom to a German Shorthaired Pointer and German Shepherd 🐾 Active lifestyle—perfect for energetic pups 🐾 Detail-oriented, dependable, and communicative 🐾 Flexible daytime availability 🐾 Treat every pet like family I work remotely 3–4 days per week, which allows me flexibility for daytime walks, drop-in visits, and check-ins. I’m happy to work with your schedule whenever possible and provide reliable care when you need it most. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pet. Safety, comfort, and communication are always my top priorities. I pay close attention to routines, behaviors, and special instructions to ensure your dog feels comfortable and cared for. You can expect regular updates, photos, and the same level of care I’d want for my own dogs. ❤️🐶 Happy to do walks, play time, potty drop in breaks, feeding your pet, administering medication with clear instructions, and more!
About: Hello, I’m Jess! I grew up around animals from the time I could walk until now. I’ve had dogs, cats, turtles, hamsters, fish and a horse! I’ve always felt so comfortable and at ease around all kinds of animals and have always tried to help every animal I can (even if my parents didn’t appreciate it haha). I currently moved down to North Carolina with my cat and lived with 4 other cats, 4 dogs, and 6 birds before now. I also rescued a 9week old kitten from a dumpster a couple months ago! I’m really excited to have the chance to care for your fur babies while you’re unavailable! I can ensure they will stick to any schedule they may have, have any necessary medications on time, and are happy and safe before I let them have their “me” time! I’m currently working night shifts, part time, so I’m available during the day for our pets and late at night! I typically have 3 days off per week and am able to work around my work schedule to ensure your pets have the best care possible! I like to come in and figure out what I can do to make the fur babies days a little better! Make sure they have food, water, find some treats and toys for them, and have a field day of play! I always triple check that my home and my clients homes are clean and safe when I leave so we don’t risk accidents happening and so everyone can rest easy! My primary concern is always your pets safety and well-being, as well as my own, so you can rest assured your pets will remain in a safe and happy environment while I’m there!
About: I’ve walked and cared for my families dogs and cats since i was young, i’ve always loved animals and having the chance to care for new pets is really fun. im currently working part time, mostly nights so i have a lot of free time during the day and afternoon. im also free every other weekend in my home, i feed my cats twice a day and make sure they are played with and loved on. And unfortunately right now, one of my cats is having tummy issues so i do know how to administer medications if needed.
“Brooke is responsive and nice! She did a great job taking care of our girl, Sadie Mae. my only feedback to her would be to send more updates with pictures too! 5 star service besides that, thanks Brooke.”

“Skipper did an excellent job. I am so thankful he came and took such good care of my cats. The automatic feeder has a gel pack to keep out moisture broke and dispersed into the food. It was the perfect example of why even with an automatic feeder it is important to have someone check on the animals. Skipper provided excellent communication and updates.”

About: I’ve grown up my entire life with dogs and have taken care of them for as long as I can remember, they are a blessing! I currently intern twice a week, so other than that I a more than happy to help your furry friends! I take care of my dogs when I am home, so it is nothing new! I have a fenced in yard with plenty of room as well as a safe neighborhood to bring and walk the dogs in, as this is the priority!
“Brandi was terrific! She took great care of our baby during the snow storm while we sunned and funned in Dominican Republic. She responded to our request quickly and even came by for a meet and greet prior to the booking. The house looked exactly as it was when we left. Knowing our pup was happy, safe and warm made our first venture in the Rover app worth it. We highly recommend Brandi!”
About: I have worked in animal shelters. I have rescued stray and abused animals and helped located their owners and if I couldn't I kept them until they were ready to find a home. I am currently taking college courses to become an animal cop I want to continue to save the abused and neglected animals. I treat my pets like family. I have helped animals including babysitting in my home and at the residents for 18 years. I have worked at the animal shelter and volunteered there. My passion for animals has never changed. My kids also love animals. They have sat and watched animal cops with me and they say to me mommy we need to help them they need a family. It's sweet seeing my kids feeling the same passion as I do. I am a stay at home mom I do babysit kids during the week. I make sure all dogs get exercise while in my home. I have one 12 year old dog I allow all the animals to free roam unless I start seeing some aggression then I do separate bathroom times and things.
“Charley took excellent care of our boys! When we came home, I think they were disappointed to see us instead of her! She treated our home with the utmost respect and we couldn’t ask for anything more! We’ve already booked our next request with her and will absolutely continue using her when our boys need a buddy to hang out with.”

“Without a doubt, the best dog/house sitter we’ve ever had and found her on three days notice!!!! Our two (high energy, somewhat timid, not perfectly trained but absolutely loveable) Aussies adored Jackie! We received regular updates by text and above and beyond offers to help around the house while we were away - including taking both large dogs to the groomers!! Came home to an impeccably clean house AND laundered sheets! 10 out of 10 would recommend!!!”

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up on a farm caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, and many other animals, and I quickly learned that every pet has their own unique personality and needs. These days, I often help watch friends’ dogs when they go out of town, and I love spending time with my family’s dog, Stella. As a pet sitter, I’m dependable, responsible, and genuinely enjoy being around animals. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, cuddles (I love the cuddles too!), or simply having someone nearby, I’ll make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and loved while you're away. My goal is to treat every pet as if they were part of my own family. As a college student who works part-time, I have a fairly flexible schedule and can often accommodate morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend visits or stays. I understand that pets thrive on consistency, so I make it a priority to follow their routine and provide plenty of lovin' and attention. Whether that means playtime, walks, cuddles, or simply being a companion while they nap! Your pet's safety and comfort are my top priorities. I understand that every pet has their own unique personality, routine, and favorite way of doing things, and I know how important it is to follow the routine that you, as their owner, have established for them. Whether I'm caring for your pet in your home or taking them on walks, I'll send daily photos and updates so you can stay connected while you're away. I'll follow your pet's routine closely and make sure they receive plenty of attention, affection, and care. My goal is for both you and your pet to feel comfortable, relaxed, and confident throughout the entire experience.
“Kaitlyn was wonderful! She sent updates with adorable photos. She was on time and very flexible with our pets needs/behaviors. We will definitely be reaching out to her for services requests again.”

“Hannah was AMAZING!! She was very attentive and responsive and did everything we asked of her. I got pictures every day and she treated our dogs like her own! My dogs were definitely sad to see her go but we will be rebooking for sure!!”

About: Having had dogs since I was born, and my entire life, I've always been the one in my family to teach them (sit, speak, paw, spin) and care for them when no one else is home. I have cared for a range of dog and cat breeds from when they were babies to in their old age. I hope to care for your animals too. I have a dog, I care for it everyday, and I am currently (June 2026) fostering another dog for a couple of weeks while its owner recovers from surgery. I take them on walks daily and play outside with them. We watch tv and sometimes I read to them (it doesn’t last, they get bored of it). As an owner of a dog with a chicken allergy I can understand specific needs, I prefer a more lax and chilled environment and my energy usually gets pets to follow.
“Autumn was great! I came home and the house looked like nobody had even been there. The dogs were relaxed and happy. Autumn was communicative and honest. Will definitely be using her in the future!”

“Marica was a wonderful sitter for our 2 dogs! The dogs loved her, she took great care of them and sent updates and pictures, and I was so glad our dogs clearly had fun times while she was there. Definitely would book her again!”

As of June 2026, there are 1,742 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across West Smithfield. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Smithfield walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Smithfield maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Smithfield choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in West Smithfield. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
