“We were gone for a week and our pets were well taken care of. Mary would visit once a week for a few weeks before we left to let the dogs get used to her. This helped tremendously! She sent daily updates and pics. We will definitely use her again when we go away. It removes a giant burden knowing our pets are well cared for while we’re gone.”

“John was so good with my dogs and cats, I immediately felt comfortable with him caring for them. The pictures and videos he sent showed content and happy pets that were having fun and clearly enamored with him. The house was tidy and everyone was happy and relaxed when we arrived home. Thank you!!”

About: I have worked in animal shelters. I have rescued stray and abused animals and helped located their owners and if I couldn't I kept them until they were ready to find a home. I am currently taking college courses to become an animal cop I want to continue to save the abused and neglected animals. I treat my pets like family. I have helped animals including babysitting in my home and at the residents for 18 years. I have worked at the animal shelter and volunteered there. My passion for animals has never changed. My kids also love animals. They have sat and watched animal cops with me and they say to me mommy we need to help them they need a family. It's sweet seeing my kids feeling the same passion as I do. I am a stay at home mom I do babysit kids during the week. I make sure all dogs get exercise while in my home. I have one 12 year old dog I allow all the animals to free roam unless I start seeing some aggression then I do separate bathroom times and things.
“Michelle is simply the best! Exceptional care everytime! I always know Mia is loved on and well taken care of with lots of updates and pictures. It is such a relief not having to worry at all while out of town! 10 stars all around ⭐️”

“Maverick did a great job house sitting for us over the weekend. My anxious german shepherd took to him right away and I felt super comfortable leaving him in charge of our 6 babies. He kept in touch with us throughout the stay providing pictures and updates on how everyone was doing. Will absolutely be booking with him in the future.”

About: Having had dogs since I was born, and my entire life, I've always been the one in my family to teach them (sit, speak, paw, spin) and care for them when no one else is home. I have cared for a range of dog and cat breeds from when they were babies to in their old age. I hope to care for your animals too. I have a dog, I care for it everyday, and I am currently (June 2026) fostering another dog for a couple of weeks while its owner recovers from surgery. I take them on walks daily and play outside with them. We watch tv and sometimes I read to them (it doesn’t last, they get bored of it). As an owner of a dog with a chicken allergy I can understand specific needs, I prefer a more lax and chilled environment and my energy usually gets pets to follow.
About: Hello, I’m Jess! I grew up around animals from the time I could walk until now. I’ve had dogs, cats, turtles, hamsters, fish and a horse! I’ve always felt so comfortable and at ease around all kinds of animals and have always tried to help every animal I can (even if my parents didn’t appreciate it haha). I currently moved down to North Carolina with my cat and lived with 4 other cats, 4 dogs, and 6 birds before now. I also rescued a 9week old kitten from a dumpster a couple months ago! I’m really excited to have the chance to care for your fur babies while you’re unavailable! I can ensure they will stick to any schedule they may have, have any necessary medications on time, and are happy and safe before I let them have their “me” time! I’m currently working night shifts, part time, so I’m available during the day for our pets and late at night! I typically have 3 days off per week and am able to work around my work schedule to ensure your pets have the best care possible! I like to come in and figure out what I can do to make the fur babies days a little better! Make sure they have food, water, find some treats and toys for them, and have a field day of play! I always triple check that my home and my clients homes are clean and safe when I leave so we don’t risk accidents happening and so everyone can rest easy! My primary concern is always your pets safety and well-being, as well as my own, so you can rest assured your pets will remain in a safe and happy environment while I’m there!
“Kaitlyn was wonderful! She sent updates with adorable photos. She was on time and very flexible with our pets needs/behaviors. We will definitely be reaching out to her for services requests again.”

“Emily was a great pet sitter for our two large puppy dogs, a 1.5 yo husky mix and a 8 mo GSD. She clearly has a lot of experience and love for animals. Emily was very attentive to my instructions and our dogs warmed right up to her! She was prompt to respond to my texts and sent pictures of the dogs playing. We are all looking forward to having Emily pet sit again soon.”

“I highly recommend Tiffany. She was wonderful with my cat, Sweetie PIe!! Sweetie PIe is mainly an outdoor cat. She is a bit skittish and distrustful of people she doesn't know so it can be a challenge for a new person to try to take care of her. Tiffany was great. She checked on her regularly and made sure that Sweetie PIe had food and water and kept me well informed on how Sweetie PIe was doing. I enjoyed my trip so much more knowing what good care Sweetie PIe was getting. I will definitely be calling Tiffany again to take care of Sweetie Pie when I go out of town!”
About: I’ve walked and cared for my families dogs and cats since i was young, i’ve always loved animals and having the chance to care for new pets is really fun. im currently working part time, mostly nights so i have a lot of free time during the day and afternoon. im also free every other weekend in my home, i feed my cats twice a day and make sure they are played with and loved on. And unfortunately right now, one of my cats is having tummy issues so i do know how to administer medications if needed.
About: I am certified in Pet CPR and First Aid through the American Health Training Association. Personalized Care, Special Needs Pet Care, and Experienced & Trustworthy I am retired and currently an Interfaith/Interspiritual Minister which provides me with a flexible schedule. I am available weekdays, most weekends and holidays for you. My services at this time will take place in your home. I will require an initial greeting to make sure your animal is comfortable and has a chance to get to know me in their own environment. I have worked with animals that have had anxiety and was able to work with them to gain their trust.
About: I have grown up with all types of animals; cats, dogs, hamsters, birds, and even horses! I take pet care very seriously and enjoy getting to know new fur babies and their personalities. I can drop in in the afternoons around lunch and in the evenings during the week, and on weekends I am free all day to check on your pets. I will make sure your pets get love and attention and not just a quick pop in visit (unless specifically requested). I like to make sure the pet feels safe and secure in their environment while I take care of them
“Katherine was awesome! We loved the picture and video updates that she sent while she stayed for a few days at our house. She gave us peace of mind that our dog was in good hands while we were gone! Highly recommend Katherine!”

“Jessica was great! She stayed at my apartment with my mina for a couple of days while I went out of town. Mina got a few walks and Jessica even cuddled with her and administered her medicine (which is no easy feat). They had a great time and Jessica sent many photos throughout her stay. She left my apartment in great order. I will definitely be booking her again!”

About: Hi! I’m Bre, a lifelong dog lover with experience caring for dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities. I offer both boarding in my home and in-home care at the client’s home so your pup can stay where they’re most comfortable. I will say, I have my rate on the higher end for a reason. The pups that will get along best here and the ones treated like a family member. They’ll have a seat at the table, they can snuggle in the bed, and if they want to go for a swim in the pool- they can jump right in. My 3 year old dog obsessed mini me and myself, want to make your pups time with us like a vacation all of their own! We love taking them out to dog parks, restaurants, baseball games…if you or the dog prefers us staying around the house, we have a huge fenced in yard with an in-ground swimming pool. We’ll throw all the balls and even have your babe feeling like a hero after “saving us from drowning”. That will go to a pups head quickly though so you’ve been warned! If they get along well with other dogs, our neighboring pups love coming over to play! In our home lives Levi, our gentle 11-year-old Labrador. He’s very sweet, docile from his old age, and mostly keeps to himself downstairs due to his aging joints. Visiting dogs will mainly hangout and sleep with us upstairs but I like to mention Levi just to ensure your pup is okay with another dog in the home. I have hands on experience with potty training, basic skills training, administering medications (pills, liquids, and other methods), senior care, and energetic puppies. I’m patient, attentive, and treat every dog like they’re part of our family. If you’re in a training process, I’m happy for you to show me the techniques you use and keep it up while you’re away. I understand how important it is to trust the person caring for your fur baby! It honestly bothers me when I know someone is just trying to pocket a little money watching someone’s little love and are not actually dog loving people. I can assure you, your dog will not feel an ounce of sadness while you’re away because we’ll keep them too busy doing fun and positive things and smothered with love from strangers, by the time they realize what’s going on- you’ll be back for them 🥰I’ll keep you updated with photos and messages so you can relax knowing your dog is in great hands. No promises you won’t receive a pic with your pup wearing a towel and cucumbers on their eyes though! I’m currently a SAHM starting a little handmade and upcycling business so my schedule is pretty open and very flexible! We offer meet and greets so if you’ve never left your baby with anyone, or even if you have, you’re both welcome to come meet us and check out the space where they would be while you’re gone, ahead of time. Send us a message if you’d like to chat more or set something up with us! Pet care fits naturally into our daily routine, allowing for consistent supervision, attention, and flexibility. I’m home throughout the day and structure my schedule around feeding times, potty breaks, walks, playtime, and rest so each pet’s normal routine is followed as closely as possible. We’ll throw in some random fun outings with approval 🙂 Boarded pets receive around the clock care and attention, regular and anytime potty breaks, supervised playtime and swimming time, and plenty of quiet downtime in the evenings. I’m happy to accommodate specific schedules, including medications, special feeding instructions, or preferred routines to help your pet feel comfortable and secure. For in-home care, I follow your pet’s established schedule in their own environment to minimize stress and maintain consistency. Whether your pet is energetic, senior, or more independent, I adjust care to meet their individual needs. I never show up empty handed so they’ll be super excited to see me coming! I aim to provide dependable, over the top care that feels safe and comforting so you can enjoy your time away without stressing and worrying about your babe. My goal is for it to never be an issue for you to go on a trip because your pup will see the suitcase and know they’re going on a mini vacay of their own! Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I take a thoughtful, proactive approach to care, whether pets are staying in my home or I’m caring for them in theirs. In my home, dogs are supervised and get to hangout in a fun and loving environment. The big fenced in yard, comfy dog beds and even our beds, there’s nothing they could ever get into that could or would hurt them. We have cameras around the inside and outside of the home for an added layer of safety! In your home, I respect your space and follow your instructions flawlessly. I maintain your pet’s normal routine, keep doors and gates secure, and provide attentive-reliable care while keeping your home tidy and secure. I’m always mindful of safety during walks, feedings, and playtime. I only accept pets who are a good fit for my home and family environment, and I communicate openly with pet parents before and during care. You’ll receive regular updates, photos, and messages so you always know how your pet is doing and what’s going on. My goal is to create a safe, trustworthy, fun and loving experience where both pets and their hoomans feel completely at ease and want to come back!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Selma walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Selma maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Selma choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Selma. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
