“Amy was great. This was our first time leaving our very shy dog with someone, and we were confident she was in great hands and received lots of love. We would use Amy again without hesitation.”

“Rhinesca took great care of our guy while we were away. We received updates on his daily walks and he was so happy. We were worried he would not want to come home. In the future we will certainly book another stay.”

“Bayan was such a friendly host that communicated extremely well. Super fast replies! Our dog stayed with her for about a week over Christmas break and she continuously gave us photo/video updates. We’ll definitely use her again!”

“Elizabeth and her family took amazing care of my Goldendoodle, Bobo, for ten nights. Elizabeth is reliable and caring! She was very communicative while we were away and sent pictures every day, so we knew never had to worry how Bobo was doing. We’ll definitely book with Elizabeth again!”

“We had such a great experience with Juan. This was our first time leaving Teddy with them and Juan made us feel very comfortable. He took great care of Teddy and sent us pictures and updates which we really appreciated while we were away. It was so reassuring to see that Teddy was doing well and being well cared for. We’re very thankful to Juan and would absolutely feel comfortable leaving Teddy with them again.”

“Siram and Rekha are a blessings to my family. Caliber my Golden Doddle is my whole world and the minute I met Siram and Rekha we bonded and I feel comfortable I was leaving Caliber in the best care and his 2nd home. Caliber gets along well with Milo. As long as they would have Caliber when I need a second home Siram and Rekha is my only option. Thank you both.”

“Manuel is friendly and informative person. He ensures that you are comfortable leaving your pet with him and updates you with pictures and messages consistently. We went away for vacation for a week, and even though we missed Patrick, we rested easy knowing he was in a loving environment. I definitely recommend him to anyone and would definitely take care of Patrick in the future.”

“I can’t thank Carol enough for taking such great care of my fur baby while I was away!! He was very comfortable staying with her and was definitely pampered. I only hope she’s available to watch him any time I need to leave town.”

“I can't thank Enis enough for watching my dog Winnie on 12/28-12/30. Enis was very professional and answered all of our questions and concerns. He sent us photos and updates of our dog and was also nice enough to my bring my dog to our wedding venue in Clifton so I could get some photos with her. I would highly recommend Enis to anyone looking for someone to watch their pet. I definitely plan to use him again in the future. Thank you again!!”

“Bobbi was absolutely amazing! Our dog has never stayed with a stranger before, so I was very apprehensive going into this. We have a German shepherd/lab mix so a bigger dog to handle. To my surprise we had the best experience right from the beginning. As Bobbi opened the door to greet us, and just hearing her voice Bodhi (our dog) ran right up to her and starting licking her hand and went right inside her home. He could tell right away that her energy was so kind and pure. From that moment on my mind was at peace. Bobbi sent cute pictures of Bodhi throughout his stay and he always looked so happy with a big smile. I’m truly greatly for people like Bobbi who genuinely love dogs and want to give them a great experience. My husband and I have found our dog sitter 🙌🏻 Thank you so much for the peace of mind Bobbi. We truly appreciate you!”

“Lisa was so loving and caring to Jupi during his stay. She made sure he was never alone and took the extra step to make sure he ate his food given he recently has started requiring add-ons to his regular dry food. She regularly sent me pictures and was always very responsive. Thank you for taking care of Jupi, we will definitely bring him back.”

“Cathy is the absolute Best! My puppy is a very picky eater and Cathy goes out of her way to make sure she eats! I swear my dog was smiling when I picked her up. Best sitter ever! Let's not forget all the pic updates we get ❤️Thank you Cathy!”

“I’m so glad I chose this sitter for Buddy! They gave me prompt and detailed updates exactly the way I’d requested, along with plenty of pictures that really put me at ease while I was away. I could tell from the photos and messages that Buddy was happy and well taken care of. They’re such sweet, responsible people, and I could truly relax knowing my little one was in good hands. Highly recommend!”

“Ricky had a great time spending the weekend with Britany and her family! We loved seeing all the pictures knowing that he was getting all the cuddles he needed. Will definitely use Britany again.”

“Digdem was absolutely fabulous. She was friendly and efficient. And she sent pictures of George snuggling with family members and having fun over the course of his stay. To top it off, she sent our happy pup home with a sweet little gift basket filled with treats and toys. Would recommend Digdem to anyone!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
