“Alex and Sarah are friendly, thoughtful dog sitters and I appreciated that they want to have a meet and greet before watching Smudge for the first time. They were flexible and communicative. We’ll definitely ask for their services in the future!”

About: I’ve taken care of all kinds of pets since I was a child. I have experience with all ages and sizes of animals. Small or giant breed dogs and everything in between is welcome. I have experience with deaf dogs that use signing as a means of communication. I am a stay at home mom that loves my animals and gardening. I can introduce my pets to yours if you need socialization. I have ample time during the day to check in, stay a few hours, or walk your pets. I can provide ample pictures and communication if you need. I have a 6ft tall fenced in yard, And two very friendly spayed female dogs for playing. I can crate or leave your dog free overnight. I can accommodate pretty much any rule or request within reason, just ask and we can talk about it. When coming to care for your pet at your house I can do almost anything they would need. One of my dogs at home is deaf and we use signing to communicate/train.

“Eliza is so sweet! She sent me photos during the day. She kept me updated on how Midnight was doing. He seemed to really enjoy his time there and has gotten to make lots of new friends! I will definitely continuing using her to watch my baby.”

About: Your pup must be respectful of cats please. I completely understand curiosity, just not stalking or chasing. I took so much care of our lab when she was 15 and had Cushings. I definitely have a sweet spot for senior pets. She has since crossed the 🌈. Max is our 5 yr old Husky/Lab mix and he's our sweet big boy. We have love for big and small dogs! We have a huge grassy 6 and 4 ft fenced in yard (we connected to our neighbors 4 ft fence - see pictures) and Max would seriously love a friend to play with or just chill with. My husband and I work from home so one of us will be home all the time. We usually go on a mid morning walk and an evening walk, weather permitting. My kids are 11 and 16 and adore animals. We have a cat, Freddy, who loves Max. We will love your pet like they were our own ♥️ My husband and I work from home full-time. Our dog has separation anxiety so one of us will be home when your pet is here! We have a 6 and 4 ft privacy fence, large grassy backyard. Max gets on the leather couch but not our fabric couch or bed. He doesn't ever try. We wake up early to feed Max at 7 so early mornings is a non issue in our house! We typically go on 2 short walks a day (15-20 min). We're a chill household.
About: I've watched dogs of friends and family on and off for the past 11 years. It's been a mix of older dogs, young dogs, large and small. I do require proof of vaccinations and licensing. I'm a stay at home mom. Our pets are rarely home alone for more than a couple hours at a time a couple days each week. I have a fenced in yard and friendly pooch with loads of toys to share. Our dog has unlimited access to the yard as long as I am home. A water dish is always out and available. We do have a cat who free ranges around the house, but she tends to make herself scarce when other dogs are in the house.
“Mark did a great job taking care of our dog Boo. Boo was always excited to see Mark when we dropped him off for daycare. Mark sent several pictures every day, which we loved seeing. We will definitely use Mark again.”
“Brad and his family are great. Brad sent videos and photos of our dog playing hard with his dog. They were a great match. Brad is super easy to work with even when I messed up the dates on the app. If you are looking for a fun play date for your dog, this is the place to go.”

“I recently moved to the Omaha area from the other side of the state knowing virtually no one, and I can’t say how thankful I am to have selected Katie and Brandt from all of the options of pet sitters around me. We were so difficult at the beginning with some various needs/scheduling/etc and they were nothing short of warm and understanding. They are so welcoming and amazing to work with. My dog LOVES going to their home and basically forgets I exist when he’s there. I have a high energy breed and I can tell that they truly take the time to play with him and he is always just so so so happy when I pick him up. I can’t rave enough how much I truly enjoy Katie and Brandt and their care of my dog, I can tell they love him and care for him as if he’s their own.”

“Jodie is wonderful! We left our 10 month old Lucy with her for an afternoon to make sure everyone (people and dogs) was compatible before leaving Lucy for a week in July. Lucy had a great time and everyone got along really well. Jodie was very caring and interested in getting to know Lucy. We will definitely use her again!”

“Milo really enjoyed himself at Jill’s. He played with her doggies and had so much fun. Jill is very easy going, lovely home and yard. Very clean and perfect set up for the dogs to run and play. Will be using her again!”

“Jackie was great! Very flexible with my changes in hours and sent pictures/updates throughout the day. You can tell she really loves dogs and takes great care of them while you're away 😊”

“My Golden Retriever puppy absolutely loved his doggy daycare time with Liz and her crew of animals. He came home exhausted and happy from the day's activities. Liz was great about sending photos and videos to keep me updated throughout the day. Won't hesitate to use her again in the future!”

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Waterloo commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NE ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 273 sitters in Waterloo, 87% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
