“They watched Coco a few times. Coco had a couple seizures. They offered to take Coco to the vet late at night and provided constant reassurance. They followed the care routines and shared updates. Coco returned home happy. We plan future bookings.”

“Blanca is simply the best. She is the only dog sitter we trust with our slightly anxious dog, Chai. Chai LOVES Blanca which is a massive compliment because she is rarely happy with any dog sitting situation. Blanca genuinely loves and cares for all dogs like they are her own.”

“Rhonda & her husband were gracious hosts to our dog for a couple of days. She was very communicative, checking in; getting clarification when necessary & sending great photos. My favorite was the one where she took her on a walk near the water - photo shows our dog with Rhonda, sitting on a bench with her head up - tongue out and laughing. Highly recommend!”

“Adela was such a wonderful sitter for Griffey! She accommodated our last-minute request for a longer term stay and we couldn’t be more appreciative of how warm and receptive she was to watching our boy. She maintained great communication, sent pictures and videos and made sure to follow his medication schedule. We will definitely be booking with her again!”

“My dog scampi had a great time with Rhinesca and her family. She sent plenty of pictures and kept me up to date with how he was doing. I would bring scampi to her again.”

“Sonia and family were great with our Brisket! He had a blast on his vacation, they shared updates, and he made new friends. Very easy to deal with and addressing of his parents’ questions. Would book again.”

“Another great stay with Cathy! When my pup sees the house she gets excited walking up to the door! We get daily pics and daily reports of how she’s doing. We couldn’t be happier knowing our pup is doing so well. Cathy comes with my highest recommendation!!”

“Grace & Luis were awesome hosts for our spirited youngster, who can be a bit of a handful. They were flexible and met us ahead of time to make sure the fit was good. We will absolutely be using them again!”

“Carolina took great care of our dog! She communicated with us daily to check in and provide updates, which we really appreciated. We will definitely be reaching out again!”

“Another amazing experience for Watson with Melissa! She provides so many updates and photos/videos of him. Watson is clearly so comfortable and taken care of while staying with Melissa and her family. He goes on so many walks and is truly with a family who loves animals. So grateful for the help!”

“Natasha made us so at ease when watching our girl while we got married! She sent daily updates with pictures, and Scout came back like she was on vacation!”

“Ken and Irene are really wonderful pet sitters. I feel comfortable and confident that Bandit had a great stay with them over the holiday weekend. He gets excited when we pull up to their gate which means he's ready to play. He's always greeted with love and attention and throughout his stay I received pictures of what Bandit is up to, which is a wonderful way to know he's in great hands. Thank you Ken and Irene!!”

“We were worried that our Laima would have a hard time with separation anxiety, (first time away from us in the 2 yrs since we rescued her) but Rene and her pups made her feel right at home. The pictures she posted spoke volume on how well Laima enjoyed her stay! We hope to use Rene again soon!”

“Charmaine is great!! Friendly, professional, great communication. Our 10-yr old chihuahua mix was in good hands and we received daily updates and photos, which were much appreciated!!! Thanks Charmaine!!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Valhalla
Elizaveta did a fantastic job watching our Boston Terrier for almost 3 weeks. Our little guy is often afraid of new people and being away from our family, but with her he was super comfortable right away - I think her dog helped with the process. Definitely recommend and would use again.

What does every dog ‘parent’ want if they have to leave their dog with a sitter? 100% peace of mind. For their dog to be cared for as they would be by you. To be updated regularly and feel great after each update. And to come home to find that their dog was just as happy and loved and safe as they would have been with you. Luz and Michelle tick every single box. There aren’t enough superlatives to express the gratitude I feel for their love and care of Allie!!! ❤️🐶⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️➕➕➕🐶❤️

Christina was great with tofu! We got regular updates and also tofu seemed to be having a blast with her puppy ! Would definitely pick her again if we ever need to board him, was super patient with our young 1.5 yr old highly energetic dog 🐶 . Also as an added bonus as she has her own puppy - our dog got a nice friend over the course of his stay!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
