This is the first sitter I've ever hired who wasn't already familiar with my cats and our home. I was nervous because of my boys needs medicated eye drops every 12 hours, which isn't his favorite thing by far, and he also generally takes a while to get comfortable with new people. Catey's super calm and solid demeanor was evident from the get-go, and this helped my boy a lot. Meds went off without a problem. About: I grew up dogs from the time I was little- labs, retrievers, shepherds- and had a special needs rescue dog with my partner for many years who lived to be fifteen. When she passed, my partner and I started boarding and house sitting regularly and have built up a pretty cute little pack. I am comfortable giving oral medication and upholding your dog’s schedule, house rules, and love to take field trips whenever possible. My favorite is when a dog can come with me everywhere, so smaller senior pups have become my specialty, but I can’t help but love all the dogs who come along. As a videographer and Maine youth basketball coach I have a lot of flexibility in my work schedule and spend a lot of time working from home editing videos. I’m fairly active, always happy to take breaks from work to walk around the neighborhood or find a pet-friendly beach to run around on. I’m in an apartment very close to Deering Oaks Park and the Western Prom. The apartment is a compact second story walk up and has been carefully maintained to keep it safe for curious noses.

About: I raised, trained, and cared for my family dog from a puppy when I was in high school. Post college I adopted a senior dog and cared for him for the last couple of years of his life. In the meantime I have been a sitter for friends and family dogs and cats over the years. I am used to giving medications (even when it needs to be disguised) and staying on a feeding schedules. I am very up for caring for senior dogs who want to lay around the house, and equally ready to go on long walks with a dog with more energy. I work from home always, so will be around during the day for pups who like to hang! I'm on the East End of Portland with the Eastern Prom very close by so plenty of places to walk and explore. I am usually out and about in the evenings for a few hours at a time. On the weekends I like to be busy, but can certainly adjust my time when I have a dog or cat around. I have a large one bedroom, and am on the 3rd floor. So my place is likely not good for pets with mobility issues (unless they are small enough that I can carry them). I live very close to lots of nature easily accessible and make a point to get outside often.

About: I know the answer to both sides of that question; having gone years without a pet, and then falling in love with a rolly, romping little pug who my partner and I were blessed to have 16 1/2 years. I am a lover of all animals. I have an intuition of what animals need and want. I am knowledgeable in feeding your pet a healthy diet as I have read a lot of information on feeding your pet holistically. I am a compassionate, gentle kind pet owner. I believe in treating all animals with that kindness and dignity. I’m currently working part time so there’s plenty of time in my day to care for your four legged family member. I sincerely enjoy having time for fresh air walks and pet sitting aka getting to know your pet and having some fun together. attention. “James took wonderful care of our dog Maya over a five day long weekend. He has a backyard with a deck and when I arrived to pick her up, she greeted me but went back to her spot on the deck and would have been happy to stay, I think! James sent a photo and video when I texted to see how she was doing and that was reassuring. We have another weekend away scheduled in the next couple of months and plan to ask James to take care of her then, so I would recommend him highly. He has a super friendly dog and she was good company for Maya.”
