We really needed someone to look after our dogs (two retired greyhounds) at very short notice as something unexpected had come up - thankfully Claire was able to assist us, she popped around for a meet and greet later that day and we were immediately confident that our beloved greyhounds would be in safe hands the next day! A true animal lover - we will be sure to use her services again. We highly recommend Claire.

About: My love of dogs began in 2022 when I moved into my current house. The family I lodge with own two adorable pugs, they stole my heart and never gave it back. Since then I've loved them as my own, taking them on nice long walks most days, mucking in and cleaning up after them and providing lots of daily snuggles on my bed. My room is their room. Plus I provide full time care when their owners go on holiday. I love all dogs. I bartend part time in a dog friendly pub and shower affection on all our doggy visitors. Every dog from Rotties and Boxers to tiny little Daschund's and Chihuahua's. After a redundancy last year my calling became clear. I've been dog sitting and caring for dogs for nearly 4 years, I want to spend my whole day with dogs (to be honest I prefer dogs to humans) so making a career of it makes sense. As well as providing all the love and care in the world, your dog will be in safe hands, I'm conscientious and diligent in watching over them, keeping them safe from food and weeds, keeping them hydrated, thorough with all the clean up and very communicative, I like taking photos of all our fun so you can always be assured your dog is safe and having a wonderful time. I hope you'll choose me as your next dog-sitter, I look forward to meeting you and your furry friend soon. I work as a writer so I'm very flexible, with lots of time to devote to your pawsome friends and can often be available at short notice. Their safety is my number one priority. I keep a watchful eye out at all times, keeping food out of reach and doors locked, if they're out in the garden I make sure it's secure. If something breaks or spills I'll secure the dogs first then clean up thoroughly.

Nick dropped in to keep Huxley company and take him for a walk. We met up for a meet and greet and Huxley and him got on great. Nick could really see where Hux was coming from and took onboard all the details or reactiveness etc. Excellent, top notch communication too, so we really look forward to using Nick again. Highly recommended!

Dana was absolutely wonderful when she looked after Nori for me. I needed someone to go in twice during the day to walk her and feed her while I was in London. It was the first time we had met and she offered to join our morning walk to get to know both of us before spending time with Nori that day, which I’ve really appreciated. She gave me lots of updates during the day, and I felt very secure in the knowledge that Nori was in good hands. I would definitely book her again – in fact, we’ve already made a plan for the next sit! Thank you!

About: From a young age dogs have been a big part of my life. I grew up alongside my family’s gorgeous cocker spaniel who we unfortunately lost a couple of years ago. This is where my love for dogs began. I currently have a 3 year old english bulldog and a 6 year old daschund who i both raised from a puppy. I have just left sixth form after completing my a-levels. I do not currently have a job but I often dog sit for my extended family’s pets. This has enabled me to gain experience with many different dog breeds, big and small. I currently do not have a job and so my schedule is very flexible. I am available to dog-sit on weekends and weekdays, I am free morning, afternoon and evening When caring for your pet in your home, I sure to follow their normal routine, ensuring that I will feed them on schedule, make sure they get regular walks, playtime, and lots of love and attention.

About: Hi, my name is Niki and I am a 34 year old experienced dog/cat/house sitter. Born and raised in London. I noticed my photo delivery percentage shows as 50% this has been on occasions when the owners have given me their WhatsApp number and we shared images as i didnt realise it was tracked on the app. I will send photos as much as you like. I take both dog and cat bookings, specialising in boarding in your home. This style of care is amazing as your pet is able to stay in their own environment whilst you are away, allowing them to be comfortable at home; stress free! Your booking could be for an evening, a week or even a month. My aim is to make your life easier, whilst giving you the security that your pet is in experienced, safe and loving hands. After graduating with a 2:1 in Marketing, design and Communication from University, I worked in corporate roles before deciding I wanted to live more holistically and work for myself. Growing up in a pet loving household, I have had lots of experience caring for pets over the years, personally and professionally. As I stay active I can offer long and short walks depending on the needs of your dog, with lots and lots of love thrown in. I am very easy going and am open to requests, so feel free to get in touch. Looking forward to meeting you and your pet! I am very relaxed and attentive when I have a booking. My priority during the stay is your pet; I make lots of time for long nature walks, cuddles and napping. When finalising your booking please provide me with information regarding your pets schedule, diet and habits, to ensure they happy and looked after whilst you are away. I am able to give full attention to your pet. My personal routine includes yoga and meditation other than this your pet is my priority I look after pets in your home, rather than in my home, so your pet will always be safe and comfortable, following your regular routine.

About: I have always had a love of dogs, and owned my own as a child. I have two dogs myself now. A cockapoo and a labrador. They love having walks on our local beach which is 2 minutes from my home. I have attended dog training classes for several years, which I helped run and I am an artist of pet portraits, which make treasured presents for people. I treat all dogs as I would my own, and give them my best attention and care. In my area we have lovely sandy beaches and a nearby park. I live in a victorian terrace house, with a secure garden, with my husband and 2 sons in their twenties. One has just finished uni, and my other son works at a school, and plays football in a team. We all love animals.

Christine was excellent! She came around prior to dog sitting to meet our dog Bobby and she had a nice calm approach which is great as Bobby can be nervous meeting new people. But all went great and Christine was excellent with communication throughout and gave us regular updates and sent pictures. And most importantly, Bobby was very thankful for her company. Would definitely use Christine again - thanks 👍

About: For the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of looking after my Pomeranian baby, and it’s been an incredibly rewarding experience. From the moment I brought him home, I made sure to provide him with a loving, safe, and stimulating environment. I prioritize his health by keeping up with regular vet check-ups, a balanced diet, and plenty of exercise to keep him active and happy. I also pay close attention to his grooming needs—brushing his fluffy coat regularly to prevent matting and keeping his paws clean and trimmed. Every day, we share moments of joy, whether it’s a playful romp in the yard, snuggles on the couch, or teaching him new tricks. Beyond the daily care, it’s the bond we share that truly means the most. I love how his little personality shines through, how he greets me with excitement every time I walk through the door, and how we’ve grown so connected over the years. Hi is not just a pet; he is family, and my heart fills with love every time I look at him. Hi There! I work mostly online at home so I will be happy to look after small ones. I have my own car so I easy can come any time needed! Looking forward hear from you! Caring for pets in a pet owner’s home, safety, trust, and the environment are always my top priorities. Here’s how I ensure that: Safety: I create a pet-proof environment, making sure that all potential hazards—sharp objects, toxic plants, or small items that could be swallowed—are removed. I also ensure that pets are supervised, especially during playtime or outdoor activities. Trust: Building trust with both pets and owners is essential. I take the time to get to know each pet’s personality, routine, and preferences, ensuring they feel comfortable and safe in their surroundings. Regular updates, photos, and videos help owners stay connected and assured that their pet is in good hands. Environment: I provide a calm, loving, and enriching environment. This includes a quiet space for rest, age-appropriate toys for mental stimulation, and a consistent daily schedule for feeding, walks, and bathroom breaks. Ultimately, I aim to give pets the same care and attention as I would my own, making sure they feel loved and cared for in a secure and trusting environment.

About: I have grown up with dogs and currently have 2 dogs with my partner, we both share responsibility when caring for the dogs we look after. We have had our lovely staffy since she was 10 weeks old (she is now 6), we also have a Greek rescue dog who has given us a lot of experience with building the confidence of a rescue. We are currently in the process of setting up our own dog boarding service. I work from home and have very flexible a schedule, I can offer boarding at my home any night of the week. I can also stay at your home if that was more appropriate for your dog or if your dog is not comfortable in the company of other dogs (both of ours are very friendly and love other dogs!). Also available for walks and day care. I have a garden with a 6ft wall, dogs would be walked in local park or beach. If a dog was to stay over they would sleep in my bedroom on the floor on a dog bed, we also have a crate if your dog prefers this.

Anna looked after my cat Mary and this was the first time I had been away from Mary for any length of time. Innes looked after our two cats whilst we were on holiday. Innes was very friendly, reliable and helpful throughout the whole process from arranging, visiting and dropping in whilst we were away. Our cats can sometimes seem stressed after we have been away but this was not the case with Innes looking after them. In this past, we have had friends or neighbours look after our cats, but after this we will probably rebook with Innes instead, as it is absolutely worth paying for. Thank you Innes!

Yes, absolutely! Many sitters on Rover are experienced in caring for multiple pets simultaneously, whether you have a pack of dogs, a clowder of cats, or a mix of both.

Look for sitters who highlight multi-pet expertise or check for verified reviews from other Thanet pet parents with similar pet households.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Thanet choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
