Alix was a perfect sitter while we were away this weekend. Communication for drop-off/pickup was very easy, and she sent loads of photos throughout the period. One of our dogs was fixed the week prior and she followed our recovery instructions. We would definitely choose Alix again to watch our pups.

Caroline’s credentials and excellent communication put me at ease right away - I usually only ever leave my wolves with friends and family (and even then, I’m particular about it!) She’s clearly a very caring, very experienced and very professional sitter and I had no anxiety at all about my two being with her over the weekend thanks to her lovely, thoughtful and thorough attitude. My dogs came home safe, happy, healthy and well cared for. I also appreciated all the beautiful pictures while I was away! I would not hesitate to recommend her and will certainly be doing so myself again. Thank you so much for looking after my floofs x

Karen and her husband stepped in for us over Christmas when our original plans changed due to a family matter. Our little dog Rosie settled straight in and was super well loved and looked after. Karen and her husband were super helpful at making the process of leaving our dog very easy and we were sent regular updates and photos. Rosie was super happy to be left and was allowed to treat their house as her own - which we are super grateful for. A very big and secure garden to play in. We will not hesitate to book with Karen again when needed. Thank you so so much x

About: My name is Hayley, I have had dogs since I was 15. I absolutely love all dogs, although bulldogs have a very special place in my heart! We have a 5 year old resident French bulldog who is extremely sociable and absolutely adores making new friends, we take lots of very enrichment filled walks along rivers, fields and woodlands. We hire enclosed fields with swimming facilities for warmer days. We have cooling mats and paddling pools in the garden along with lots of enrichment toys and activities, our evenings are usually spent snuggled together on the sofa after a fun filled day of exploring. I work from home on a very flexible schedule so your dogs will have someone with them 24/7. We have a resident French bulldog who adores all dogs. We take daily walks through the woods and along the river, with plenty of sniffing breaks. We also visit the enclosed field regularly for a well earned strech of the legs and run for the more athletic dogs, I tailor the dogs care fully to their needs, we do a minimum of 2 walks a day ( weather dependent for certain breeds ) plus we have lots of enrichment activities at home for them to enjoy. I have a fully fenced garden, stair gates in place for your dogs safety, plenty of treats and space on the sofa! We are happy to tailor to your dogs needs with beds, sofa or crate sleeping, I have over 20 years experience with all different breeds of dogs.

Katy was very friendly when we had the meet and greet. Archie loved her house, it was very clean and well looked after. They also had a good spot for him to look out the window to people watch lol. Good sized garden for him to use and lots of places to sunbathe. She sent pictures so i knew archie was happy. He was very comfortable enough to snuggle with them as he loves napping. There are plenty of places for them to walk, even for a quick walk or longer depending on what is needed, Archie usually has short walks and sometimes we go longer and katy was able to do both. Her partner is also very friendly and was helpful to katy and they work well as a team. I would be happy to book her again.

I was really sad at the thought of leaving my puppy for a weekend, and I couldn’t face the idea of putting him in a kennel. I was completely stuck because I had to be away for a wedding I was part of. Then I came across Jane’s profile which gave me the confidence to give this a try. Meeting her in person absolutely confirmed that I had made the right choice. While I was away she sent lovely updates that showed my pup was having the best time. He became best friends with her kitten Apollo, and with Juno too, and I honestly think he didn’t want to leave. He came home happy, relaxed and delightfully sleepy after a very active and stimulating stay. Jane also shared some really thoughtful feedback about him which has given me great ideas for training and adjusting the routines I have in place. I couldn’t be more grateful to have found Jane and her family. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for someone genuinely kind, responsible and empathetic to care for their pet. The icing on the cake was that Jane offered to drop my dog home along with his crate and bits once she realised I was travelling by taxi, which was incredibly kind. Thank you so much, Jane. Five stars from us.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
