“It was my first time using Cathy and her adorable golden retriever Stan. We initially met to see if Lana was comfortable there. When we returned for Lana to stay, she happily walked into Cathy’s driveway. Cathy sent me pupdates while Lana was with her. At no time was I concerned about Lana. In fact, my plans changed and Cathy kindly extended Lana’s stay for me at short notice which was so very kind and helpful of her. When I picked Lana up, although she was happy to see me, she was in no rush to leave. Lana, and in fact, myself, were treated like a member of the family. I know for a fact that Lana was not distressed as she licks her paw raw when distressed. Lana was with Cathy for nearly 24 hours and her paw was perfect. If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee.
