“There is no better sitter than Carolina. Firstly she is one of the kindest people I have ever met. I met her daughter who was equally as sweet! She took amazing care of my kitty, sent lots of pictures and kept me worry-free on my trip. I also came home to a holiday toy for both my dog and cat! As hard as it is to leave your pets for a trip, it felt a lot better knowing they were in such great care. A+ experience with Carolina!!”
“Cristina was outstanding! This was my first trip away in a long time that I didn’t have to worry about my dog. Being able to relax was a luxury and all because of her. She cared for my dog like I do. I didn’t expect my dog to have an accident but he did…twice! Cristina cleaned it up and I am just so very grateful for her. I highly recommend her in a heartbeat!”

About: I’ve been caring for pets of family and friends for over 20 years. I also have 2 cats and 2 dogs. I am very aware and prepared of the fun and chaotic puppy phase as well as medication handling for eyes, ears, post surgery, etc. I have volunteered at a big cat sanctuary and other shelters, helping care for many fur babies. I have a very flexible schedule and I have reliable transportation. This allows me to stop by during crucial hours that many sitters/walkers aren’t available for. I can easily crate your dog if needed, I have learned how to play and respect animals who don’t want to be touched or bothered with.

“Kristen was wonderful with Philly! She was very attentive, sent great pictures and updates during both visits, and spent lots of time playing with him. She seemed genuinely caring and comfortable with him, which gave us a lot of peace of mind while we were away. We would absolutely book with Kristen again!”

“I'm so happy my fur babies and I got to meet Stephanie. She was so kind and made me feel at ease knowing my girls were in good hands. We will definitely be working together in the future.”

About: I’ve been around dogs my entire life and recently discovered a love for cats, thanks to my girlfriend, an animal lover who shares my passion and helps care for the pets we sit. Together, we bring a calm, caring, and experienced presence to every pet we meet. I’ve cared for animals as young as 1 week old and as senior as 19 years. I offer basic training for both dogs and cats (sit, lay, paw) and have experience administering pills and liquid medication when needed. Whether it’s a playful pup, a shy cat, or a senior pet with special needs, I provide trustworthy, loving care tailored to each animal’s age and personality. I’m a full-time Computer Science student, so I’m home pretty much all the time, working on school. My girlfriend is also home a lot, so your pet will always have someone around to keep them company. Whether it's playtime, cuddles, or just chilling together, your furry friend will get all the attention they need! I understand how important it is to have someone reliable looking after your pets while you're away. I live in a cozy 2 bedroom apartment, and I’m home most of the time, so your pets will always be under supervision in a safe, clean, and loving environment. Whether you prefer care in my home, yours, or a mix of both, I offer flexible options to fit your needs. I can stay at your house to keep your pets comfortable in their familiar surroundings, or if you'd like them to have a change of scenery, they’re welcome to come to my home for a stay. If you're looking for something more short-term, I can also do drop-in visits to feed, play, and check in on them. Rest assured, your pet will receive plenty of attention, love, and care, just like they would at home.
“Kyra is great! She took amazing care of my dog who is slow to warm up to people but was so happy with her. She communicated great and took great pictures that I got to enjoy looking at while at work. I highly recommend her!”

About: I have had pets in my life since I was born. I understand that every pet is different, so I take the time to learn their routines, energy levels, and comfort needs. Whether your dog needs a fun walk to burn energy or your cat prefers calm, quiet care at home, I’m happy to provide patient, attentive service. My goal is to give you peace of mind while making sure your pet feels safe, loved, and well cared for. I currently cat-sit a friends cat a few times a year (longest has been 2 weeks) and look forward to expanding my cat/dog friends! I currently work full-time, however I work different hours each day. I always have a weekend day free. Additionally, I am available mornings and evenings different days each week. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I follow all care instructions closely, including feeding routines, leash preferences, and any special needs. During walks, I stay aware of surroundings, avoid unsafe situations, and make sure pets are securely leashed at all times. I provide regular updates so you always know how your pet is doing. I aim to create a calm, respectful environment where pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for
“Jami was incredibly reliable. We had an issue with our front door and getting into the house. She went above and beyond the expectations to make sure our cats were cared for. I will definitely contact her again if I need some to watch our animals.”

About: I have loved animals since I was a baby, I’ve volunteered at shelters and fostered animals of all shapes and sizes. I have also worked at a vets office giving me knowledge about the safety and health of our pets! I am a full time college student but I have a very flexible schedule allowing me to be home and available everyday and I’m never gone for more then 3 hours! I live in a pet friendly apartment with a dog park located directly downstairs as well as lots of trails and fields to run in!
About: I've had pets since I was born, there has almost always been at least one cat and dog in the house, and taking care of them became my job as soon as I was old enough to do chores. I've been pet sitting professionally since I was 12. I have a family I work with consistently, staying at their house for weeks at a time to care for their two dogs (one young, one senior), bearded dragons, and fish of all sizes. I've also volunteered at farms working with all kinds of animals. I have real experience with high-anxiety and reactive dogs. I lived with two rescued Rhodesian Ridgeback mixes who were majorly reactive and anxious from their previous situation. Since they loved running in the heat, I'd bike alongside one of them on-leash for miles so he could burn off all his energy. I'm a college student with in-person classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which leaves the rest of the week open for pet care. I can offer morning, afternoon, and evening visits on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and I'm also available for longer stays when needed. Since I only care for pets in their own home, I focus on keeping their routine as consistent as possible, sticking to their usual feeding schedule, walk times, and any specific instructions from their owner. I always make sure doors and gates are securely closed before and after walks, keep an eye out for hazards around the house, and never leave a pet unsupervised in a way that could put them at risk. For anxious or reactive dogs, I move slowly, read their body language, and give them space to adjust to me being there. I treat every home with the same care and respect I'd want for my own.
“Sam was reliable and professional every step of the way. Communication is always prompt and clear, with detailed updates and photos after every single visit, which gives great peace of mind. They consistently go above and beyond—not only caring for my dog and cat, but also taking the time to clean up any messes my dog makes. It’s rare to find someone this attentive and thorough. Highly recommend for anyone looking for dependable, top-quality pet care.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Truck Corner
Colleen took great care of my two cats during daily drop-in visits. She made sure they had fresh food and water, cleaned both litter boxes, and spent time playing with my more social cat while respecting that my other cat preferred to stay hidden. She also handled an unexpected mess when one of my cats got sick and kept me updated with photos. I really appreciated that she was able to accommodate an extra day at the last minute, too. I came home to happy, well-cared-for cats and would happily book with her again.

Marie did an awesome job with my kitty! Feedings and litter box cleanings were prompt and well executed. Pictures were taken during every visit. Marie even spent some extra time with my kitty to make sure she wasn't feeling too lonely on my vacation. Excellent service and I will certainly be rebooking for my next trip!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
