“Yvonne was amazing! She came by on short notice, made me feel comfortable, and immediately won over my dog. She sent lots of pictures and updates so I knew my baby was in good hands! I can't recommend her enough!”

“Heather is absolutely wonderful with our 5 dogs. She takes great care of them and communicates very well. We have 1 skittish dog that she’s been very patient with and he’s slowly coming around. Definitely recommend her.”

“This was our first experience with Rover and with Allison K. She was great to work with-very good about communicating and doing exactly what was needed to take care of our kitties. We are so happy to have met her and look forward to calling on her again!”

“Benjamin was very conscientious & dedicated to his task of finding & befriending my scaredy-kitty! He also kindly filled our birdbath & watered our flowers to keep our other denizens (feathered and pollinator) content during our absence. Benjamin caught a glimpse of wRen in flight, however, I’m hoping he’ll return to give both of them additional time to get acquainted.”

“Courtney was absolutely amazing. She sent plenty of photos along with thoughtful, detailed updates, and my cat clearly adored her. I’m so grateful for her — especially for being so flexible on such short notice. I would book her again in a heartbeat, 1000%!”

“Leticia did a great job taking care of my cat Madison. Madison is a loner and doesn't warm up to people but he trusted Leticia from the start. I loved the photos and videos that she forwarded to me. It gave me peace of mind to know that he was well cared for. I hope that Leticia will be available the next time I need to be away from home for an extended period of time.”
“Meagan was wonderful! She took care of my 2 cats while I was gone for alittle over a week. She was responsive and easy to communicate with. I really enjoyed her! Will be booking again 😊”

About: Hi, I’m Ashley — a dedicated and dependable animal lover with over 25 years of experience as a professional, a homeowner and pet caregiver. Over the years, I’ve had the joy of sharing my home and life with dogs, cats, and even rabbits, and I understand just how important it is to know your pets and home are in safe, capable hands while you’re away. What I Offer: 🐾 Experienced Pet Care – From energetic pups and senior dogs to independent cats and cuddly bunnies, I’ve cared for a wide range of pets with various personalities and needs. I’m confident with administering medications, maintaining feeding routines, and providing lots of love and attention tailored to each animal. 🏡 Reliable Home Stewardship – As a long-time homeowner myself, I know how to care for a home with the same respect and responsibility as my own. Whether it’s bringing in the mail, watering plants, or keeping things tidy and secure, you can travel with total peace of mind. 💬 Clear Communication – I believe trust is built through communication. I’ll keep you updated with regular messages, photos, or videos of your pets, so you’ll never feel far from home. I work from home and have a flexible schedule. My roommate, Holly, and I tag team boarding, pet walking or house sitting jobs depending on our availability. We have a fenced in yard with lots of space to run and sniff! We also live very close to a local park and walking trails. Your pet is like family when at our house, we have 3 high schoolers and 1 preschooler!
“Karen was great for our drop-in visit with Chicken. She’s a great communicator, and keeps us in the know about dog behavior. She took a charming photo of chicken enjoying the outside. Much thanks Karen!”

“Tiffany was a real trouper to come visit our 3 month old puppy. She is knowledgeable, organized and loves dogs. Communicates promptly, and is open to changing circumstances. I highly recommend her.”

“Last month I found out that my previous dog walker moved out of town, I ran across Emma's profile and noticed she had many good reviews. We met for a meet and greet and my husband and I both felt comfortable having her care for our dog. We scheduled a weekend trip and we had no issues. I booked her again for a week long of drop in visits and she went above and beyond to make sure our dog was well taken care of. I would definetely recommend Emma to care for your pups. Thanks again for everything <3”

About: I’ve grown up with huskies and they are very high energy and active! I have experience with puppies as my sister adopted a chocolate lab puppy and I was over almost every week, including several different times where I watched him for a week on my own over the last year. I have also taken care of other small and large dogs and used to volunteer at Lucky Dog in D.C. where I walk ownerless dogs for free. My neighbor has relied on me to take care of her two cats for several different week-long occasions. I love playing with animals and will provide the best care because I know that our pets are our family. I work from home so I am able to watch pets during the day. I work from home Monday through Friday, so I am very flexible. I am able to let your pets out at any time of the day! I used to have a husky of my own so I know how important our “fur-babies” are to us. You can trust that I will give them the best belly rubs, treats, and take them on nice long walks. If you choose me as your pet caretaker you can guarantee your pet will get all the love and care they deserve!
“I would like to say thanks to Jazmin for her willingness to continue care of my two pups while my flight was cancelled due to the weather. I appreciate her keeping tabs and updates on my two pups during my absence.”

Courtney did an amazing job of taking care of my cat while I was on vacation. Food, water, and litter were good to go the whole time. She even got him to come out of hiding and play around, sending multiple pictures for peace of mind. Overall 5/5, completely hassle free, if I need a pet sitter again she’ll be the first I ask.

Stacie was great and I’d absolutely book with her again. She was flexible, communicative, and clearly took great care of my cats while I was away. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was handled, kept me updated, and gave me real peace of mind during my trip. It was obvious from the updates and from how my cats acted afterward that they were comfortable with her and well cared for. I really appreciated her attention to detail and the care she put into everything. Highly recommend.

Jazmin is fantastic! Very communicative, prompt, honest, and always asks good questions. Finding a trusted pet sitter is difficult and Jazmin is just the best- can’t recommend her highly enough! I particularly appreciate all her updates and photos of the pets; makes it so much easier for me when I travel.

Leticia did a great job taking care of my cat Madison. Madison is a loner and doesn't warm up to people but he trusted Leticia from the start. I loved the photos and videos that she forwarded to me. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in The Downs. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
