About: Looking for a loving & fun home away from home for your pet? Look no further! With a golden retriever of my own, for the past 7 years I've taken care of my dog along with 10 other dogs from time to time for periods as short as a couple of days to a couple of months. As a college student in DC, my weekends are wide open to take care of your pet! I also provide services in between my classes. I can also quickly get acquainted with the safety features & layout of your house! I will make sure to ask any questions that are relevant to dogsitting at your house to make sure your dog's daily routine isn't disrupted
“David and Cathy were brilliant when it came to watching Ruby for two days. They really helped in putting my mind at ease and seeing they had a loving home and a companion for my pup to play with only furthered this notion. They were flexible and worked around my schedule allowing me to make last minute changes and I certainly intend to utilize their services again in the future.”

“Carol is truly a dog lover! It is great that she took our last minute booking as we came in to town to sightsee. Our girl was very well taken care of giving us some free time!”

“Jenn & Brian made it so easy to plan a daycare stay for my two dogs while I was planning a visit to Niagara Falls. During the day, they sent cute pictures of the dogs, including one with their son having three dogs sit at attention. I could tell when I picked them up they had a great day and made new friends.”

“We now call Dena, Aunt Dena, because for the short 8 weeks we were in Buffalo for work she and her family became Goose’s family. I can not say enough kind things about her and her family, all around great people and caretakers. I am positive that Goose misses his friends in Buffalo, I know I do, and hope to one day be back to visit. I am so thankful for all the time, commitment, and love she put into Goose.”

About: As an experienced pet sitter, what sets me apart is my dedication to personalized care. I specialize in tailoring my services to meet the unique needs of each pet. Whether it's training puppies with patience and positive reinforcement or providing gentle and attentive care for senior pets, I ensure that every furry friend receives the individualized attention they deserve. My commitment to their well-being and my extensive experience (over30 years) make me your pet's best companion when you can't be there. My routine is adapted to the specific needs and schedules of the pets and their owners. During my time with them, I focus entirely on their well-being, ensuring they receive proper attention, exercise, and companionship .Rest assured, your furry friends will enjoy a high standard of care and affection during the hours I'm with them. My approach to pet care can vary based on whether I'm caring for pets in my home or at my client's home: 1. **In My Home:** When pets are in my home, I create a safe and comfortable environment. I ensure they have their own designated space with their essentials, such as bedding, toys, and food/water bowls. Regular feeding schedules, exercise routines, and playtime are maintained. I provide companionship and, if needed, training. Frequent updates and communication with the pet owners are also a priority to keep them informed about their pet's well-being. 2. **In Client's Home:** When caring for pets in their home, I strive to maintain a familiar and secure environment. I adhere to the established routines and schedules set by the pet owners, ensuring consistency in feeding, exercise, and playtime. I also handle any necessary tasks like administering medications, grooming, and housekeeping related to the pet's care. Communication with the owners is key, and I provide regular updates and ensure they have peace of mind while they're away. In both scenarios, my primary goal is to create a stress-free and loving atmosphere for the pets I care for, whether it's in their own familiar surroundings or in my home.
“We drove from TN to NY for my cousins wedding in Buffalo with our dog so she could meet some family and see my home state. I’m not from Buffalo though so I was so happy to find Mindy to watch our dog Lady during the wedding hours! It’s always nerve wracking leaving your baby with new people but Mindy calmed our nerves with photos and a couple updates and I knew Lady was in great hands. She was also super flexible with us for our pickup and dropoff times changing, which we really appreciated!”

“Natalie was wonderful! We brought our Lucy there for thanksgiving and she was extremely professional with the whole process and so sweet to our girl! She even made her a special thanksgiving dinner!”

“Danielle was awesome! We left our 4 month old GSD with her for the better part of a day. Our pup seemed to be sad to leave her new friends behind when we picked her up. Danielle’s communication and scheduling flexibility is appreciated. We would definitely use her again if in the Buffalo area.”

“Lauren was amazing! We had never left Kirby with anyone other than family for pet sitting so we were very nervous. These nerves were completely unfounded because Lauren made the experience fun, safe and welcoming for Kirby. She came home every day exhausted and happy after playing with Winnie (Lauren’s sweet pup) all day and getting some special treats like pup cups. We would not hesitate to book Lauren again. She was communicative, helpful and is clearly a genuine dog lover. Thank you Lauren!”

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Swormville commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
