“Jessica stayed with our pets and took great care of both them and our house while we were on vacation. She is quick with communication responses and easy to work with and get updates from. Our pets seemed happy and relaxed when we got back. Thanks so much - would happily book Jessica again and definitely recommend her!”

“Grace was great, she kept us updated on our furry kid and sent pictures of a happy and stimulated dog. House was super clean when we returned home. Would definitely recommend her and use her again in the future.”

“Amanda was amazing with our two large/medium dogs!! One has behavioral considerations and both take medication, and we didn’t worry about them for one second in her hands - even though we had no cell reception during our trip. She was friendly, clearly truly loves pets, and left our home spotless. We will definitely be asking her to keep our babies again!”

About: I’ve taken care of a good amount of breeds from huskies to chihuahuas. I have loved every single one that it melts my heart every time i see them. I have a dog of my own and she’s a sassy silly lazy girl. I enjoy cuddling with dogs and just having fun with them. Going on walks, playing with toys, watching a movie and going through a roller coaster of emotions, i can do a lot with dogs! i can also ensure that i will provide as much goofy photos of possible if wanted (i will be taking because its funny and brings up the vibes) I work super early so I’m available for majority of the day. I’ll leave at the crack of the morning and come back in the morning still! i’m able to take all dogs out for a potty break in between work as well and just give them attention if that’s all they need! I treat my pets like my fur babies. they are my children so i talk to them as if i have teenage kids going through their moody phase. with other people’s dogs i can present my self calmly or energized depending on what they need. i love including them in everything if they want. like if they want to help me fold laundry, cook, clean, or just watch a movie then we are all doing it as a group.
“Audrey did a wonderful job pet-sitting our 13 year old dog and tending our houseplants while we were away on vacation for a week. She was very responsive to our requests for updates and photos via text and also didn't hesitate to ask questions about anything she was unsure about. The house was in perfect shape when we got back. Would highly recommend her.”

“Sara is amazing! She takes her sitting seriously and loves my cats like her own. I’ve booked with her for both drop-in and overnights. She’s on-time, her communication is fantastic and I feel confident in leaving my cats and home in her meticulous care. I’m sure my cats love her as they wind around her legs immediately every time she comes over. Book with Sara today, you and your cats will not regret it!”

“Victoria was fantastic with my pup! I was very impressed by her professionalism, and could tell my dog had a great time with her. She was timely and very attentive to my dog’s schedule and needs. Definitely recommend!”

“Barbara was a wonderful house sitter! She is so sweet and did an excellent job. Our two dogs were in great hands and our house was very well taken care of while we were away. I would absolutely recommend Barbara if you need a dog sitter or house sitter!!”

“Aeries did really good watching over my dog and 2 cats. I will definitely be bringing her back next time I leave. She was very attentive and gave me updates (pictures) daily. 💚 Really great service!”

“Brandi took great care of my two dogs. She communicated with me throughout her stay and sent pictures each day. She stayed at my house and everything was clean and tidy when I returned. Would book her again.”

About: I also constantly grew up with dogs in my life, small, big, old and young. I understand how to wear them out with every trick in the game I am a full time student but mainly taking online credits, most the time hanging out with animals is my joy, not a job or task. I live in an apartment and will not be hosting animals in my home. I would absolutely love too but with my situation I cannot.
About: I’ve grown up with animals of all kinds in my home. While I currently only have a cat, I’ve been the owner of several dogs, a couple snakes, a bearded dragon and I’m not afraid of really any type of animal. I have a pretty open schedule, single mom to a couple of boys and pet mom to one sweet cat. I love snuggling any animal. So I live in an apartment but very frequently go out to trails and parks with my kids, I would have no problem including your pet!

“Kasey did a great job. We kept in contact often. I left instructions and Kasey did a great job with that. If she had a question, she asked. The biggest tell is that my animals were very happy and relaxed when we got back!!!”

About: I have had pets my whole life and am ready to handle anything they may throw at me. I'm an avid hiker and I love being able to explore nature with furry companions. I'm a great fit for any dog or cat care needs you may have! My patience is abundant, no matter how wild or calm your pet may be. I am available for house/pet sitting during the week. I am happy to work with dogs, cats, exotics, and farm animals. I have worked with animal care in a professional setting for 4 years now, and feel confident in my understanding of animal behavior and care. I have 3 cats of my own, foster bottle baby kittens, and work on a farm in Lewiston with goats, sheep, and a grumpy Llama. Reach out and let me know what you are looking for in a pet sitter!

“Bella did a great job with our two older dogs. One can be hard to crack his shell, and they were buddies by the end of their time. She sent plenty of pictures and is a good communicator. She left our house clean. All of it was very much appreciated!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Sunshine
Elizabeth was amazing! She took wonderful care of our three dogs and our home, and the pups were honestly sad to see her leave. From the start she was thoughtful and professional—asking all the right questions to make sure everyone would be safe and happy. She kept in touch with quick responses, lots of photos, and daily updates (often more than one!), which really put us at ease since it was our first time having someone care for all three dogs together. We’d absolutely book with Elizabeth again—it’s such a relief to have found someone here in the Palouse we can trust completely. The dogs already miss her!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 148 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sunshine. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sunshine walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sunshine maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sunshine choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sunshine. On Rover:
- 80% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
