“We feel fortunate to have found Aaron & couldnt ask for a better trust worthy & reliable person. Aaron was very professional from the start - beginning with his quick reply to my inquiry text. Most importantly, he was great with my dog & kept me updated frequently with photos & text. I would highly recommend Aaron for your house & pet sitting needs.”

“Andrew stayed with our 2 dogs overnight for 10 days while we were out of the country. Andrew was a great communicator and let us know how they were doing during our trip. He took them on multiple walks, doggie parks and car rides which we permitted. The dogs were very happy, and our house was in good shape upon our return. Very thankful for Andrew's service and professionalism; I highly recommend Andrew for overnight pet sitting.”

“Caroline was great with our fur babies. She handled all of my instructions and their needs with professionalism and love. Our girls loved her. They talked to he all the time. :-) thank you, Caroline for making their experience a wonderful time!!!! We would definitely request her as she is available and meeting our schedule.”

“Caitlin took excellent care of our two rough collies! We felt we could never leave them before because the youngest has a seizure disorder and has a routine of medicine at night and in the morning. The oldest is 12 and has had some incontinence issues in the past. They both love Caitlin! The youngest had no problems taking his medicine. They both ate and went on many walks. When we returned, we were welcomed by two very happy collies. We are very thankful for Carlin and will definitely call on her again.”

“Skyla was really responsive and our pup was happy upon our return. She checked in about her eating, took her on walks, sent photos and updates and overall seemed great with our dog. We really appreciated her flexibility and care!”

“Bella is fantastic! She had great communication and took wonderful care of our Cat and Dog crew and of our home while we were away. We will absolutely use her in the future! Thanks again, Bella!”

About: My family and I have fostered dogs and cats for the last 12 years. Through this I have gained valuable experience with working with a variety of dog breeds. Although, my experience goes beyond this as my love for animals is one of my greatest traits. While working pastime at a childcare facility, I have enough time throughout the day to check on your pet, let them out for a potty break, or just keep them company! Depending if I have any other activities or events to attend to, I’m pretty much free all the time. I currently have 3 dogs and 2 cats. For the dogs, we have a large, fenced in yard with plenty of room for them to run and play. All of our dogs have leashes and collars to ensure safety for us and our pets. As for the cats, they each have their own litter box which is scooped daily and their own food bowls.
“Cassie was the perfect sitter for our pooch. She spent nine hours over two days with our dog Ginger who was never happier, but a little sullen when Cassie had to go. Cassie was punctual, totally professional and kept in close touch during her time with Ginger, sending updates and photos. We most highly recommend Cassie as the best sitter for your dog! She was a pleasure to work with.”

About: I have been fostering dogs for 15 years now, and have 5 years of pet sitting experience. I have worked with high and low energy dogs, as well as dogs with disabilities such as seizures and diabetes. I love all animals and am committed to making your pets time away from you as comfortable as possible! Last Minute Fee (<24hrs): $10 I currently work part-time, but only during the evenings, so I am available for a majority of the day to care for pet needs. I am a somewhat early riser and also know of the unnecessary stress put on an animal when their daily routines are disrupted, so I am adaptable when it comes to dogs with stricter schedules. I am only providing drop-in services as I have two dogs of my own. I am comfortable walking dogs of all sizes and with issues of pulling and leash aggression. I work to maintain a clean environment for the animal as well as keeping them entertained and healthy.
About: Hi! I am no stranger to walks, accidents, or muddy paws! I have experience with lots of different personalities and breeds. I am more than happy to take care of your pets while you're away. I am okay with negotiating prices that work better for you. I am currently a student at Appalachian State University. My schedule is pretty flexible so I am available to come & go as needed! If times are tight, I will let you know in advance. I'm happy to take dogs for walks, let them run and play in the backyard while supervised, crate them if needed, and keep up with their regular feeding schedule. I will make sure they get plenty of bathroom breaks, attention, and care while you're away! :)
About: I’ve always been an animal lover, from horses to reptiles! I’ve had dogs and cats my whole life, and some of the others throughout. We recently lost our dog to cancer at just shy of 13 years old, and I’m currently volunteering as a dog walker at the animal shelter to help fill that void. With the limited hours available there, I thought we could try this avenue as well. I work full time, but my daughter and I would love to find a dog to walk Wednesday through Friday evenings, or weekends! We are available some weekends for dog/cat care while you’re away as well. We love walking dogs, playing fetch, petting them, and providing lots of love. We enjoy playing with cat toys, and giving them plenty of attention as well.
“We are new to NC and finding a housesitter was a concern as we have a very nervous dog that needs slow introductions and a calm yet confident demeanor in a new friend. He has a best friend now! And my husband and I have peace of mind. Angel is a God Send. She did an amazing job and even handled a difficult situation with our ducks. We can’t recommend her enough. Thank Angel!!”

“Cassie was wonderful. I’m a nervous pet mom if I have to travel and Cassie was so wonderful with my dog and communicating with pictures and updates. Already planning to book her again!”

About: I grew up beside a high energy husky pup who was my very best friend and the one who taught me what it means to love animals deeply. My mom modeled what it looks like to truly care for your pets as family, always prioritizing their exercise, comfort, and happiness. Now I have two pups of my own, and I finally understand what it means to devote your every day to their care. It can be stressful at times, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Raising pets really does take a community, and I’m so grateful for the one I’ve built here in Boone. Because of it, my pups are always supported, able to socialize, and infinitely loved. I want to make sure you and your pets have that opportunity too. I work part-time at Watauga Opportunities and recently graduated from Appalachian State! I’m always looking for extra ways to move my body, so dog sitting and walking gigs are truly a luxury for me: a chance to do something I love while helping others care for their pets. I'm available most weekends and am happy to work around your needs! I have a fenced in yard for playtime at my home, either solo or with other dogs. I like to keep a consistent routine for the animals I care for, so I’ll do my best to match their usual schedule and make them feel right at home. As for dog walking, it's important that your pup gets the adequate amount of exercise for their breed- so of course I will try to match that as well.
About: I have two family dogs of my own ages 8 and 7. Beyond caring for these two, I have walked a golden retriever occasionally for a while and assisted with neighbor care of other dogs. I am currently a full time employee, but beyond my work I am more than happy to come play and walk your fur baby! While I work a traditional 8-5, I am happy to come by on my lunch break and after work. I am happy to bring your dog around town for a good walk. I am also happy to just walk them in your neighborhood and play with your dog for extended time depending on the day of the week.
“Maranda house sat for me, caring for my two cats, while I was out of town for a few days. My girls warmed right up to Maranda, even my young cat who has been known to hide from sitters for a long time. Maranda even sent me videos of my young cat being silly and demanding pets. My home appears well cared for and I returned to happy, healthy cats!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 226 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sugar Grove. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sugar Grove walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sugar Grove maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sugar Grove choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sugar Grove. On Rover:
- 80% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
