“Meaghon was the best! She went above and beyond to care for all of our pets and our home while we were away for the holidays. She communicated often and sent us a lot of pictures. She made sure our pets had lots of love and attention while we were gone. We were so lucky to find her and would highly recommend her to anyone!”

“Kate was awesome with our dogs - lots of walks and photos so we could see how happy they were the whole time! She left our place cleaner than when we left. Highly recommended!”

“Jaylin was perfect! They came over before the stay to meet my dog and get a feel for my place, and they had an amazing time together while I was gone with lots of shared photos. Will definitely book Jaylin again and recommend to my friends!”

“Joy spent a long weekend with our animals and house sitting and was fantastic. She met with us before taking the job, communicated with us about any issues or questions she had that popped up, and sent photos of our pets. Our animals were very obviously loved while we were gone and we highly recommend her for any house or pet sitting jobs.”

“Kaylee stayed overnight with Cali and she was great! She was good with communication and making sure Cali was well taken care of, she took time to play with her and kept me updated as needed with photos. I will be requesting her for more overnight dog sittings.”

“Paulina did an amazing job taking care of our home and animals while we were away. She was incredibly attentive to our dog, who is very picky with eating, and made sure he was comfortable and well-fed. When our cat injured himself, she didn’t hesitate to offer to bring him to the vet—showing genuine care and responsibility. On top of that, she went the extra mile during the hot days by making frozen treats for our chickens to help them stay cool. I highly recommend Paulina for house sitting and pet care. We’ll be using her as often as possible!”

“We left our 8 month old puppy for five days(4nights) with Jess. It was the first time we left her since we got her and Jess was a great fit for our family. She kept us updated, and made us feel so much calmer about leaving her. She even helped Maple keep up with her basic training skills. Will definitely be keeping her contact information for the future!”

“Fiorella was a wonderful caretaker for our three dogs and home while we were away. She sent regular photos and followed all instructions thoroughly. Also left the house nice and clean!”

About: I’ve always loved animals and felt a special connection between them. I believe that every animal deserves the world and all the love! I have a dog of my own, who is my baby! Any time there is an animal I want to make friends and be where they are:) I am currently working full time, but have a lot more availability on Thursdays and Sundays. I am around Saturdays after 3. Depending on the pets needs, I can stay over and go to work from your home. I would love to play with your dog, take them for walks and adventures. I can feed them breakfast and dinner, and include treats. Definitely give them plenty of love as well!
“Kailin was a great companion for our pup! She exercised the dog often and was always available for updates. We definitely plan to use her for walking and house sitting needs in the future.”

“Erinn is the best! We have two senior dogs, one with special needs after having IVDD surgery, and when we came back from our little trip they were happy as ever. She’s knowledgeable, professional, and incredibly good with the pups. I’ve never seen them so at ease with a stranger. We’ll be booking her again soon!”

“I would highly recommend. He took care of my three dogs 70+ pounds and one cat. He is an excellent communicator and sent me photos during the stay. He came out for a meet and greet and asked me a lot of great questions. I really appreciate him. it allowed me to go away for a couple days knowing my pets were being well cared for. Will definitely use again. Highly recommended.”

About: I like to watch it’s me or the dog every night. And my cat from hell. I’m interested in getting my dog training certificate in the nearest future. My cat brings me such joy. He is a 16 year old black cat and such a good boy! He can even go on walks with us. I work for the Worcester Public schools and have all school vacations off. I am able to come and do house calls in the evening time (4-late night) or house sit overnight on weekdays or weekends. Also during school vacations including the summer. We have an indoor house cat. He’s declawed and very friendly. We also have a fenced in area in the backyard with very high fences. There is possibility that borders could be segregated from the cat if necessary. We are in a good neighborhood for walking and very near some good trails.
“Rebecka took wonderful care of Benny. The updates were greatly appreciated, especially knowing he was eating, resting, and settling in well. It was very reassuring to see how comfortable he was with her. Highly recommend!”

“Great communication and photos with each visit. Our puppy and cats seemed very happy and healthy while we were traveling. We would work with Jeffery in the future.”

About: I've taken care of dogs since I was 5 years old when I got my first puppy! I have raised puppies, provided senior care, and helped train dogs with behavioral issues. I've taken care of all kinds of breeds ranging from small to large dogs. I spend a lot of time outside and believe our pups should always join when possible, I focus on teaching off leash skills so that dogs can get the most of their time outside with me. I'm currently working remotely and have flexibility in my schedule. I have time for regular bathroom breaks and exercise. I'm a bit of a homebody and make sure the pets get the attention they deserve! I have a large yard with a friendly dog to keep your fur friend company. I do have a couple crates of varying sizes to ensure your pet has their own space if they need it.

“Logan was great, friendly and extremely helpful. The pets warmed up to her quickly and made me feel comfortable leaving them with her. She provided updates and pictures while I was away. She went above & beyond the expectations of taking care of my cats and home. I would highly recommend her!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sterling walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sterling maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sterling choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sterling. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
