Sarah has been great with my knew puppy. She is very tentative to him, nice, and responsible. She pays attention to details without prompting. My puppy appears to look forward to her drop in visits.

Jenna is the best of the best! She treats the animals in her care like they are her own. I have one very outgoing and energetic pup and Jenna makes sure she gets all of her wiggles out while she is there. My older female is scared of everything, and Jenna takes the time to make sure she is comfortable during the visit. We are so lucky to have Jenna be part of our pack!

This was our third time using Emma for drop in visits. Daisy Mae loves to cuddle with Emma and we always feel comfortable when she is in Emma's care.

So happy we found Ashleigh! Just had our first drop in visit. It went great! Was comforting to know that Ashleigh broke up our pups’ day and left awesome notes and photos from the visit. She met with us the day before so the dogs could meet her with us and was and we could share their normal activities and play preferences. We’re in a unique situation were our pups have to be separated with a gate. It’s a very calm and controlled environment with the gates. But, without seeing it, that sound like a lot. Ashleigh gave us a chance and handled the pups great! We will definitely be requesting Ashleigh for our future sitter needs.

It’s been a while since we went on vacation, and were nervous about hiring a pet sitter. Annie put us at ease the moment we met her. She talked with us at length about the needs of our cats, showed a great deal of empathy and compassion and most of all followed through with our plans. We enjoyed seeing our cats warm up to her daily through pictures which really put us at ease. It felt good knowing our cats were in Annie’s hands - she’s a true animal lover! I cannot recommend her highly enough!

About: I absolutely love animals. I've had dogs and cats since I was 6. Since then I've help train a service dog and fostered many other dogs. I currently have three dogs: chihuahua mix, pug rat terrier mix, and a great Pyrenees. I currently am a personal trainer so I don’t have a set schedule. I will be able to let the pet outside or spend time with them in between clients. I can take the pets on daily walks, depending on their schedule and when they like to. I like to know where the food is and if they get treats for doing specific things.

Alexis took great care of our dogs while we were away for the holidays! They seemed to really enjoy her care and company, and she went the extra mile making sure they had everything they needed. She was also very communicative and kept us informed at all times. 10/10, would book again.

Hayley is the sitter that you want to gatekeep! She took excellent care of our boy Henry. So much so that he didn’t seem as excited when we got home. He enjoyed being around her so much!! It’s difficult leaving your furbabies behind when the situation calls for it. Hayley has given us a level of comfort that allowed us to enjoy our weekend away. We already plan to book her again!

About: I’ve cared to dogs since I was 12, beginning with family pets and expanding to neighbors and friends. I helped raise a littler of ten black lab puppies, ensuring they received proper nutrition and constant affection. I’ve cared for many breeds in a variety of settings, including watching and managing up to 5 black labs at once, taking them on structured walks, playing with there favorite toys and keeping their routines calm and consistent. My experience cover feeding schedules, baths, crate safety and off leash play. I am currently a student at coastal Carolina community college as a dental assisting student. Mondays and Thursday I get out of class at 11:40 and 12:50. Tuesdays I arrive at school @11 and leave @3:40, Wednesdays 8-2:40 and Fridays 10-2:40. On weekends I’m available and times after school. I have a back yard, not fenced in. Pets in my home are not treated bad, not screamed at or hit to be punished. They are always treated like my own, with cuddles, little snacks if allowed and plenty of play time. They would go on walks and be seen by other individuals for petting if the owner is comfortable.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Stella stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Stella. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
