“Sarah has been great with my knew puppy. She is very tentative to him, nice, and responsible. She pays attention to details without prompting. My puppy appears to look forward to her drop in visits.”

“Callie was heartwarmingly patient with my anxious pit. Callie went out of her way to help me, and I’m honestly in awe at how she won my pittie over in the first solo visit. Training? Experience? Kindness that even my weirdo dog could sense? Thanks, Callie.”

About: I absolutely love animals. I've had dogs and cats since I was 6. Since then I've help train a service dog and fostered many other dogs. I currently have three dogs: chihuahua mix, pug rat terrier mix, and a great Pyrenees. I currently am a personal trainer so I don’t have a set schedule. I will be able to let the pet outside or spend time with them in between clients. I can take the pets on daily walks, depending on their schedule and when they like to. I like to know where the food is and if they get treats for doing specific things.
“So happy we found Ashleigh! Just had our first drop in visit. It went great! Was comforting to know that Ashleigh broke up our pups’ day and left awesome notes and photos from the visit. She met with us the day before so the dogs could meet her with us and was and we could share their normal activities and play preferences. We’re in a unique situation were our pups have to be separated with a gate. It’s a very calm and controlled environment with the gates. But, without seeing it, that sound like a lot. Ashleigh gave us a chance and handled the pups great! We will definitely be requesting Ashleigh for our future sitter needs.”

“Jenna is the best of the best! She treats the animals in her care like they are her own. I have one very outgoing and energetic pup and Jenna makes sure she gets all of her wiggles out while she is there. My older female is scared of everything, and Jenna takes the time to make sure she is comfortable during the visit. We are so lucky to have Jenna be part of our pack!”

“Alexis took great care of our dogs while we were away for the holidays! They seemed to really enjoy her care and company, and she went the extra mile making sure they had everything they needed. She was also very communicative and kept us informed at all times. 10/10, would book again.”

About: I have always had a heart for dogs and have always been an animal lover, I have a variety of animals and that is what makes me different I am a college student at Nc state but my courses are earlier in the day and I do not have class on Fridays so if there was weekend that an anima needed to be watch I can be there! I take care of my pets like I take care of myself if I am eating they will be fed. I love to be outdoors, so I always make sure I bring my animals outside and do new things because it’s their first time living too.
About: I have always grown up with animals and my love for them led me to a job at a pet resort. I was a kennel technician for 4 years which provided me great insight to care for all types of furry friends. I just graduated college from UNC Charlotte and home in Emerald Isle for the summer. Most days I workout and hang with my family so my schedule is pretty flexible. I always try to keep each pet’s routine as close as possible to what they’re used to because I know how stressful change can feel—especially for anxious pets. I’m patient, gentle, and attentive, and I make it my priority to provide comfort, consistency, and lots of love while they’re away from their parents.
About: I’ve had dogs in my life as long as I can remember! Any time I see a dog, my day is 10x better. I truly have a heart for dogs of any size. I’ve had dogs from the size of dachshunds to Great Danes! I promise I will love your dog like my own and will make it my personal goal to receive that love in return from your sweet pup! I hope you will count on me to be there when you need me. I will do my best to always go above and beyond for you and your dog ❤️ I am a stay at home mom (real baby & fur baby lol!) Being a caretaker is my everyday life and I hope you will consider me for your pet 💜 I am willing to do whatever it is you need to feel comfortable with your pet being away from you! Please let me know how I can help you to feel most comfortable!
“Sarah was amazing! I received the sweetest pictures of my cats each visit! My male cat needs twice daily insulin shots and Sarah had no trouble at all. I’ll definitely be booking with her again!”

“We are repeat customers of Lexi and cannot imagine having anyone else watch our fur babies! One of our dogs had a tough time this stay and Lexi is exactly who you want to love and care for your dog in their time of need when you cannot be there. Incredibly communicative and very personable, Lexi loves our fur babies the way she does her own and we love her for it!”

“We are on vacation in an unfamiliar house with an aging, mobility challenged dog so had lots of complicated instructions for Abbey and she did a fabulous job. She even made a practical suggestion for the second visit of the day which made life easier for us and our dog happy. We will certainly specifically look for her again when we visit Emerald Isle.”
“Catherine is always great with my pup!! Scarlett loves her and I know she makes Scarlett feel so comfortable! She gives great updates and always makes me feel at ease when I leave my baby with her!”

About: In my house growing up, we always had a dog and cats. At one time we had 2 dogs, 3 cats, a bunny, 2 birds, and a chinchilla. I learned what a good home for good pet looks like, but I also learned, THEY train US more than we realize. A "good" pet feels safe and trusts the human they're with. A "good boy/girl" doesn't pee inside, because a "good human" takes them out/cleans their litter. A "good boy/girl" feels relaxed at home, because a "good human" gives them the exercise and energy outlets they need during the day! Let me be your "good boy or girl's" "good human" while you're away :) I work flexible 11am-5:00pm days in Swansboro. Midday walks are easy if nearby, otherwise I would love to spend my free time hanging with your best buddy(s) around my easy-to-adjust work days! I have no pets of my own currently, so your home will remain your pet(s)'s sole domain without territory conflict. As for your home space, I'm a very honest, clean, non-smoking human with a lot of love and respect for other people's material belongings, privacy, and vow to honor any requests or considerations. My 3 highest moral values are integrity, respect, and care. It's also a goal of mine that you return back to your home better than you left it! I'm just here to become best friends with your pet(s), but the process of earning your trust simultaneously, is an extra bonus :)
About: I’ve had many types of animals (farm, big, small, etc) my whole life as well as the ambition to be a veterinarian. I have basic husbandry and veterinary skills and knowledge. I am currently a senior in highschool and end class at 2:10. I am free weekends and open to caring for new types of pets! My animals are vetted and chipped, the cats are indoor outdoor an i have an 18 year old dachshund who is blind and deaf due to age, as well as a 3 year old deaf Australian shepherd who is trained using a Bluetooth buzz collar.
“Sandy was great with our dogs!! We were here on vacation and she took them for fantastic walks on the beach. My dogs were so happy! I felt comfortable leaving them in her care. Will definitely hire her again next time we are here..”

“Leigh was the best pup sitter! She was reliable, punctual, caring, flexible and always communicated. I was nervous being away from them, and she always made me feel better when she had her visit with my babies. She even let me know that she thought something was a little off with my Chihuahua. This way I knew to pay a little extra attention to make sure he was OK when I got home.”

The median cost per visit for pet sitting in Swansboro is $20
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Swansboro
Ashleigh went above and beyond with our fur babies! We have 3 rescues, all with different personalities and issues. She even had success with my overly anxious, fearful girl with severe separation anxiety! Ashleigh is a true professional and must be a dog whisperer! 😊 She understood my directions regarding each dog’s unique personalities and tips to help with each one and did an awesome job! Her communications are prompt, detailed and friendly! We definitely recommend her and will use again!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
