Megan took great care of my fur babies and my home during my vacation. She answered my texts promptly and she even sent me cute pictures of my pets. I felt comfortable leaving my pets and my home in her care after meeting with her. It was my first time using Rover and she was beyond helpful. I would recommend Megan and I will be using her services again in the near future. It was nice to be able to enjoy my vacation knowing someone trustworthy was taking good care of my pets.

5/5 – Absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish! 🌟 Molly was an absolute gem as our cat and house sitter. From the moment we met for the meet & greet, she came across as so professional, thoughtful, and genuinely caring — she instantly put our minds at ease. She asked all the right questions, took detailed notes, and made us feel completely confident leaving our home and our shy boy, Black Fury, in her hands. During the sit, she went above and beyond in every way. Black Fury (who normally hides from anyone new for days) warmed up to her beautifully — I still can’t quite believe it! We received lovely regular updates with little stories about their day, which meant the world to us while we were away. Our home was looked after with such care, everything was spotless, and it honestly felt like Molly was just another member of the household. We are so grateful to have found someone so trustworthy, kind, and capable. It was truly a pleasure having her in our home, and we would welcome her back with open arms in a heartbeat. We’re already looking forward to booking her again next time we travel! Thank you so much, Molly — you’re the best! 🐾🏡

RUN, don’t walk - to hire Tayler for all of your pet’s needs. I’ve had my fair share of lackluster dog sitters (even from this app, unfortunately) and Tayler goes above and beyond on every front. It started with the meet and greet - I have two anxious beagle girls who get a bit stressed with new people in the house. The moment she walked in, they were at ease, barely made a fuss and were asking for belly rubs within a few minutes (lol I swear pets can sense great energy.) Tayler stayed at our place for a few days while we were away and kept us very updated with walks, happy photos and with any questions she had about our place. She’s kind, nurturing and is exactly the person I needed to find for me to feel *amazing* about leaving them with someone. I just know her calendar is going to fill up quickly - so don’t hesitate to book her ASAP 👏

About: I’ve had pets as long as I can remember, and wouldn’t have it any other way. They are the charm of any home!! I would be honored to watch your pet. I currently work from home and have three dogs myself. All very loved and get along great with other animals, including cats!! I am home all day every day and the dogs thrive when we have a guest pet. My house is set up to where I can divide the animals and they’d still be comfortable. I also have a very large 2 acre lot that is completely fenced in.

About: I’m dependable, communicative, and detail-oriented, and I make it a priority to keep pet parents updated with photos and messages so they always have peace of mind while away. I understand that every animal has different needs and personalities, so I take the time to make them feel comfortable, safe, and genuinely cared for instead of treating them like “just another booking.” I’m also comfortable caring for pets with different energy levels and needs, including: * Puppies who need patience, consistency, potty breaks, and structure * Senior pets who may need slower walks, extra comfort, medication reminders, or gentle care * Shy or anxious pets who need time, calm energy, and reassurance * Active dogs who benefit from playtime, walks, and engagement I just moved from New Jersey to St. Augustine. I use to pet sit and walk dogs for my neighbors so looking to build my client list here! I have full time availability. I provide a safe, calm, and loving environment where pets feel comfortable and cared for like family. I pay close attention to each pet’s routine, personality, energy level, and any special instructions from the owner to help them feel secure while you’re away. In my client’s home, I respect the pet’s normal schedule as much as possible, including feeding times, walks, potty breaks, playtime, medications, and bedtime routines. I also provide regular updates, photos, and communication so owners feel connected and reassured.

About: Growing up we had 17 golden retrievers. 14 of them were puppies. I now have two of my own and love to be around them. My family has been involved in training. I also worked at 2 different animal hospitals where I was a kennel technician. I have 2 daughters . Currently I am going backed to school to become a dog trainer. I am always available and try to accommodate in any way I can. I appreciate hanging out with animals and doing everything I can for them. I am CPR certified for dogs. Me and my children enjoy animals so if we aren’t doing school work, or helping other animals I am outside training or practicing with my dogs. I have a fenced in yard so my dogs and I are always outside playing. They love to play with the toys and run. We practice training a lot of the time.

Dogs tend to settle quickly with me and many clients tell me their dogs are calmer and happier after our walks. About: As a lifelong animal caretaker and work-from-home entrepreneur, I understand that many pets are happiest in their own space. Because I travel frequently myself, I know the peace of mind that comes with finding a sitter who treats your home and your pets with the highest level of respect. I’m an active person and love taking dogs on long, refreshing walks. I’m happy to explore your neighborhood’s favorite trails or stick to a familiar route that makes your dog feel secure. I am intentionally 'picky' about the bookings I take to ensure I can give your pet 100% of my energy and the best possible care. Household Harmony: I treat your home with total respect—maintaining security, bringing in mail, and ensuring you return to a space as clean as you left it. Updates & Peace of Mind: Expect regular photo/video check-ins so you can travel worry-free knowing your best friend is thriving. I am a local realtor so you can be assured that I will take great care of your home while coming in and out of it or staying with your pet.

FAQs for House Sitting - Spuds

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of June 2026, there are 957 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Spuds. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Spuds walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Spuds maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Spuds choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Spuds. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 99% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
