“We had such a great experience! Our dog is very shy and can take some time to warm up to new people, but Julia was incredibly patient, caring, and understanding with him. It was clear that she genuinely cared about making him feel comfortable and safe. We received great updates and felt completely at ease knowing he was being well taken care of. We would absolutely recommend her and will definitely use her again! 🐾❤️”

About: Hi! I’m a huge animal lover with 5 years of experience caring for pets, including pet sitting for family, friends, and people in my community. I’ve always been someone others can trust with their pets, and I genuinely love getting to know each animal’s personality, quirks, and routines. 💗 I have pets of my own, so I understand how hard it can be to leave your fur babies with someone else. When they’re in my care, I treat them like my own with plenty of love, attention, playtime, cuddles, and the (not so) occasional treat! 💗 I’m comfortable caring for both dogs and cats, including pets with special needs. I have experience administering oral and injectable medications to both dogs and cats and am comfortable following detailed instructions and maintaining their normal routines. 💗 I also always like to do a meet & greet before accepting a booking. It gives me a chance to meet you and your pet, learn their routine, go over any special instructions, and make sure everyone feels comfortable. 💗 I’m also naturally a clean and tidy person and am great about cleaning up after myself. I’ll take care of your home just as thoughtfully as I take care of your pets and will always do my best to leave things as clean, or even cleaner, than I found them. 💗 I do unfortunately work full time, but my schedule varies throughout the week and I only work 3/7 days a week. Other than that, I’m a free woman willing to watch your fur babies for you. I am great with communication so we can always discuss availability! On the days I do work I get off at 6:30 PM and I’m free for the rest of the night for drop-in’s, walks, or an overnight stay! I will always respect your wishes in your home. I’ve always been a respectful and trustworthy person, I clean up after myself (and any fur babies), I’ll even leave the place better than I found it. When I’m caring for your pet, all my focus is on them and their needs, I keep a tight ship around here! I love the idea of pet sitting in your pets home because it keeps them comfortable in their own safe environment and stick to the routines that they are used to.
“Deanna was fantastic with my pets! She was super reliable, attentive, and kept me updated with great communication while I was away. I felt completely at ease knowing everything was taken care of so well. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for top-notch, caring pet care, and I will definitely be reaching out to her again!”

“Alexis was incredible! This is my second time using her & I was more than happy!! She is incredible with my babies & I am already using her for another visit this weekend!”

“First time using the Rover service and our first time away from our pet for such a long duration. Franki was an excellent communicator, went above and beyond spending her time with our dog in his own home so he would be comfortable, and we're so thankful for her! Great experience and our new go-to option if we need to travel!”

“Bree was wonderful! She was timely, learned our dogs quickly and made sure she gave all three their own individual special attention. Her update at the end of the visit was extremely descriptive and she sent almost 2 dozen photos. This was the first time using Rover so we were hesitant but we are happy with the assistance Bree provided. Thank you so much!”

“Edmy and her husband have been taking care of my babies for a few weeks now. She does an amazing job and has done everything we ask to take care of them! Definitely recommend her!”

About: I have been taking care of my 18-year-old cat since she was born. She has recently gone deaf and requires more attention. For two years, I frequently took care of a family with 5 children and 2 Great Danes. I give my cat attention daily, making sure she feels loved and content. This often includes filling her food, water, and changing her litter box, as well as many pets and cuddles. I would love to walk, play with, and take care of your pets. At home, I make sure my cat has a clean litter box and plenty of attention.

About: Ive taken care of pets my entire life, but professionally over the past four years in shelter settings! I will always respect boundaries and be there to be a comforting friend to your pets! i have yet to start my full time position but my partner works 3rds so i am often left bored at times! Even when i work during the day or mornings, i have a busy brain and like to stay that way! I will always meet your pets needs fully! Each pet is individual and deserves to have specialized care that meets their needs 100%! I will always respect a pet and their home!
“We are so grateful for Adrianna! She watched our cats while we were out of town and did an amazing job. She was understanding of their specific needs, very communicative, and let us know if any issues popped up which she quickly resolved. From the very beginning, she gave us peace of mind that they would be very well taken care of and they absolutely were. She sent daily photos and detailed updates, which we loved. We will absolutely be booking with her again!”

About: Hi I am Stephanie. I am a life long dog owner and lover of all animals. I currently have a Cavapoo named Sophie who is my little ball of attitude. I have experience with all kinds of dogs, labs, cocker spaniel, doodles, German shepherds,and French Bulldogs. I am willing to watch in your home as my girl isn't fond of guests. I work full time but depending on the area of town I am available for midday walks and care as well more and evening. I would love to provide amazing care for your pup while you enjoy a relaxing vacation or are out of town for any reason. “My rates reflect Rover’s service fees. I’m happy to discuss pricing for longer stays, repeat bookings, or unique circumstances.” I currently work full time on the north side of town but am located in New Haven in. I get 1 hr for lunch and if you are located huntertown or in this area I can definitely do midday walks and cuddles. Walks, let on lead, electric fence or anyway you prefer your pets to do their business. Feeding, playing and of course cuddles to begin and end the day.

About: For as long as I can remember, I have always had an animal in my life. I got a puppy at a young age and cared for him up until the day he passed. Since becoming an adult, I adopted a kitten and continue to care for him. He is now 6 and the light of my life! I have an extremely flexible schedule! I have a mid sized unfenced yard, but I know of multiple dog parks. I’m available to cuddle up with animals or wear out some energy!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
