“Mildred was a wonderful sitter to work with. Great communication and prompt responses. My boy had a blast in the beautiful big fenced in yard. I definitely would book again in the future”

“Bruno had such a good stay with Donna and we felt completely comfortable leaving him somewhere new because of our previous visit and her great communication! He keeps running to the car wagging his tail since returning home- I think he is hoping to return for a visit!”

“Was so happy to find someone to take care of our dog during a holiday, and we felt better knowing he was safe with Mario! We did a doggie day care day with him in advance so they could get to know each other, and our dog was excited to see Mario when we dropped him off for an overnight! We received updates during the stay also. Would definitely recommend Mario and will book him again for future dog watching needs!”

“Absolute peace of mind through the entire experience. This was only the third time with a sitter and second boarding my Whiskey dog overnight; but never have I felt as content as when he was with Judy, her wonderful family & beautiful home. Was able to completely enjoy my vacation knowing he was cared for as one of her own. I really can’t thank her enough for what that contentment was worth to me. To top it off she’s so nice!! Had pushed the date forward a day at the last minute, she was totally understanding and went with the flow. Just thank you!!!! I know Whiskey dog misses his new friends already =^_^=”

“Brittany was wonderful with Cody. He is not used to be separated from us so we knew that he would be a challenge. I am happy with the treatment that Cody received and if the occasion occurs we will book with Brittany again.”

About: I’ve been around dogs all my life! I grew up in the country side of Ireland and had many sheep dogs through my childhood. My love for animals started at a young age and quickly learned how smart and special they truly are. Through out the years I’ve developed an intuitive approach to caring for each animals individual personality and needs. This is my full time job Monday through Friday. Rates are listed but please note ! (Anything over 8hrs is an additional $20/hr) for daycare. I have a fenced yard for your dog to play and would never have more than 5/6 dogs at a time.I also live in a very walkable neighborhood with sidewalks and I’m close to , parks, farms, and nature hikes. Sadly I no longer have a pup of my own as he recently passed away.
“I love leaving Willow with Cristian and his family. My fur baby always comes home happy. He keeps us updated and sends lots of fun pictures to keep us connected while we are away. Definitely recommend!”

“Lola seemed happy and comfortable when I dropped off and picked her up from Angel. She has a great space for dogs and I appreciated that she took all my crazy dog mom requests into account. Would highly recommend her!”

“B recently had a incident with a larger dog that caused her to shy away from dogs in general. I advised Dawn of the incident before dropping B off. Dawn understood immediately and reassured me that B would be fine. During my time away, Dawn sent pictures/ movies consistently. I could see that B had made friends and was definitely enjoying herself. Dawn eased my mind tremendously and allowed me to relax and finally begin to enjoy my vacation with my family. Thank you very much Dawn!!!”

“We will definitely be coming back to Danielle. Our two dogs got lots of attention in her home. In the past, our dogs would show signs of stress after being in a kennel. No signs of stress this time. I was really pleased to see how happy they were. Danielle, From our family to yours, "thank you for taking such good care of our girls.' Regards, Peter”

“Brittany took such good care of our girl! We were able to relax and enjoy our vacation knowing she was getting love and attention and excellent care. We enjoyed the frequent photos and seeing how our pup was enjoying her vacation too. We would highly recommend Brittany!”

“Phalisity was a great sitter for my dog Prince. She was ready to receive him on time. She sent pictures of him which reassured me that he was well taken care of and comfortable. She had him prepared for pick up in a timely manner. I will definitely reach out to Rover again to request Phalisity’s service. I am grateful of your service. Mrs. Harris”

“Leah was a pleasure working with and had no problems leaving our 13+ year old Maltese "Butters" with her. She was very communicative before, during, and after the sitting. Will definitely be using her in the future.”

“Wanda is the best! She always takes such good care of our anxious little toy poodle. On this stay, our dog needed medicine twice a day that he didn’t want to take. I felt so badly about putting Wanda in that position, but she got creative and found a way to make him accept the medicine more easily. I can’t recommend Wanda highly enough! We wouldn’t want to leave our dog with anyone else.”

“Miranda is a very warm caring and welcoming caretaker who immediately made our dog feel safe and comfortable upon arrival. I highly recommend her. She is also very easy to work with and communicates well.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Spackenkill
Mario was amazing with Hank during his first nights away from home! He was incredibly patient and responsive to my million messages, sending plenty of photos and updates that put my mind at ease. Hank had a wonderful time playing, making friends, and getting lots of attention. It’s clear Mario genuinely cares about the dogs he watches. We’ll absolutely be booking again!

Our somewhat anxious dog Millie had an absolutely wonderful time staying with Judy, Steven and Ginger. It was her first time away from us and she had a great experience. Getting photos and videos was very reassuring and it was clear she settled right in. We will definitely have them look after her again in the future!
Matthew was a great dog sitter. He was friendly and accommodating. My airplane coming home ran very late and at the last minute, Matthew agreed to keep my dog for an extra night. He sent multiple pictures everyday and took my dog on long walks with his dogs. I couldn't have asked for a better pet sitter or pet sitting experience.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Spackenkill home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Spackenkill.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Spackenkill sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
