“We had a very last minute trip that Nina was amazing in accommodating! She is so sweet and communicative, always making sure we knew our dog was safe and having fun while we were gone. We will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Jessie did wonderful watching our crew of animals. She is very experienced with a variety of different dog personalities and our animals immediately were comfortable with her(even our quirky one). She kept us updated on them throughout the days. She came and did a meet and great with them to make sure everyone was comfortable with her staying at our house. Thank you Jessie for making sure our minds weren’t stuck on if the animals were ok as we were fully confident they were in great hands.”

“We can’t say enough great things about Jason and the wonderful care he provided for our energetic 3 year-old pittie. Jason is extremely professional and responsive, and he took excellent care of Leo (and our home) during his stay. He provided frequent updates and pictures, which we really appreciated. We felt all the more comfortable leaving Leo in Jason’s given his medical training and his obvious love of dogs. We look forward to booking with Jason again soon!”

“Ryan was awesome with our two dogs! He was attentive before, during and after his stay. His attention to detail put our minds at ease and reassured us that our boys were in great hands! We will definitely be using again in the future!”

About: I was raised on a small family farm, and have cared for goats, chickens, ducks, pigs, and more while a part of that. As a child and teenager, I trained dogs through my local 4-H program, and later on started petsitting for family friends. I've cared for puppies, senior dogs, cats, chickens, cows, pigs, goats, turtles, geese, canaries, ducks, and so many others, and I'm always willing to learn something new! I work full-time, night shifts during the week and mornings on weekends, but I'm typically only gone 8 hours max, so there's still plenty of time for me to provide plenty of care and attention to the pets! I typically stay overnight, and will either crate the pets if needed, or let them sleep with me, I wake up with them and spend my day hanging out with them, playing or just relaxing. I do my best to care for each pet as their owner would, to help minimize stress.

About: I have been taking care of animals for as long as I can remember and have been pet-sitting since age 10 for family, friends, and neighbors. I have almost always lived with at least one cat or dog (or both!) throughout my life. I also have experience caring for rabbits, ferrets, gerbils, fish, parakeets, bearded dragons, and cockatiels. I currently live with two indoor tortoiseshell cats who are comfortable with dogs, and one of my cats is leash-trained. I have raised and trained at least 11 dogs from puppies to adulthood (3 as my own and the others for my parents). Most of my cats I adopted as teenagers, but I have raised a few kittens from a young age. I have done extensive dog training with the 3 dogs I raised as my own in the past, and I am familiar with both dog and cat training techniques. I live in a cabin the woods in Boston, NY, on a power line gravel road. Although I do not have a fenced in back yard, your dog will enjoy going on leashed walks down the power line road multiple times per day! I earn a living through a mix of substitute teaching (summer starts June 25th!), remote research and writing gigs, tutoring, child care, and pet care. I have a flexible schedule and incorporate pet care into the mix as much as possible because I love animals. If I am boarding a dog at my home, I will not be house sitting at that time (and vice versa). While boarding or house sitting, I will consider dog walking and drop-ins depending on the needs of the client and driving distance. If you board your dog at my home, my cats and I wake up early (about 6am) and I like to go outside for a walk down the power line road right away, and then eat breakfast. Your dog will be able to spend time with me all day (on a leash when we are outside), and if I need to leave my house, they will be in their crate for no more than 4 hours (2 is my strong preference). We will go for at least one more walk before dinner, too. I will be sure to give them plenty of play time and exercise throughout the day (depending on their level of activity and how hot it is outside). No matter what, they will get a lot of love and attention! I live in a cabin in the woods in the Town of Boston, NY, so although I do not have a fenced-in yard, there is very little traffic or people around. I will be able to go on long leashed walks with your dog down the power line for exercise, and there are a few friendly neighbor dogs that would love to say hello if your dog is up for that. I do live with two cats: one of them will hide a lot while your dog is here, but the other is very dog-friendly and will want to interact with your dog. I will monitor and separate them as needed (I have a spare room). I have always crate-trained my dogs and so long as your dog is comfortable in their crate, I will use it as a safe place for them to be while they are staying with me.
About: I’ve been a dog owner since 2020, when I got my first dog as a puppy. Since then, I’ve learned firsthand what it takes to raise, train, and care for a dog from a young age. I currently have two dogs and they’re a big part of my everyday life! I’m a senior in high school with no extracurriculars during this season, which makes my schedule very flexible. I also have my own transportation, so I’m reliable and easy to coordinate with! I take safety seriously and always make sure dogs are supervised and comfortable. I follow all instructions closely, keep routines consistent, and pay attention to behavior to make sure each dog feels secure and stress free.
“Mary is so caring, and patient with our older gentleman of a pup and our younger, giant, overly nervous pup💖 She won them over instantly, and did a spectacular job with the both the dog and the house- start to finish. Cannot recommend her highly enough!”

“Bri was communicative and took such good care of our pets (a senior dog, a cat and a fish) while we were away for the weekend. She also took great care of the house and was kind enough to bring in the mail and packages that arrived while we were away. We arrived home to happy pets who were obviously well cared for. I would definitely ask Bri to help us out again. Thank you Bri!”

“Judith is nothing short of amazing!! She is so kind and caring and our shy & nervous girl is just in love with her. The piece of mind she gave us for our long trip away was priceless! She gave Nutmeg all the care she needed and more. We’re so grateful. We will definitely have her back soon and highly recommend her to anyone looking for top care for their pups!!!”

“Rachel was very responsive and took wonderful care of our pups while we were away. They warmed up to her almost immediately, and she sent a lot of updates and photos so we didn't feel any anxiety about how they were doing. We will absolutely go with her in the future for any trips we have coming up!”

“Jess is wonderful with our girls. She gave us updates and sent pics. I left a detailed list ( giving more information than she needed lol ). Jess was more than happy to follow Our dogs love Jess and the Love, attention as well as the cuddles she gave them Our home was spotless when we returned. And at no time was I worried or concerned for our pets”

“Rebecca was wonderful! She was communicative and provided pics of the dogs and asked questions as needed. We will absolutely check her availability next time chewy and Iggy need a sitter!”

About: Hello! I’m Claudia Giallella and I’ve always loved caring for animals. In recent years, I have played and cared for chickens, bunnies, cats, and dogs. I love to send pictures and videos of your pets to show they are having fun and are happy while you are away! Caring for animals has always brought me so much joy and I love to meet new families that are in need for short or long term care for their pets! I am currently working part time at a hair salon, but am mainly focused on pet care. In my daily schedule I have plenty of time to do multiple stops a day to care and play with your pet(s)! I follow the instructions given and make sure I know exactly how you want your pet cared for. In addition to caring for your pet, I make sure the environment is tidy and clean prior to leaving each time.
“Haley was by far the best pet sitter we’ve had. Everything was from start to finish seamless. Looking forward to the future bookings we have planned. Thank you for everything Haley.”

About: I’m a construction business owner who likes to stay active during my slow winter months. This usually means traveling abroad but if I’m staying local I like to get out and play with dogs. I’ve always felt a connection with them, speaking their language and body language from a sassy female husky who has perfecting the side-eye and eye roll made me adept and more self conscious dog owner. I am a very responsible person, I don’t take my duties lightly as I know what a pet means to someone. That is your baby your family and I am mature enough to handle things well. I’ve had dogs/ owned/ fostered dogs my entire life. I find dogs much more enjoyable than most people. If I do rarely attend a party, I’m the one outside playing with the dog I’m new on here so my prices are low. This does not reflect the quality of service or care I provide. If reviews would be helpful from the business I run, you can find my company “Gaia Gutters” in buffalo and see what my gutter customer think of me. In my free time I like to do yoga, snowboard, read, cook, and overthink my life. I’m chasing equanimity in all aspects of life and closing to live a well intentioned life. I’m going to India next year for a celebration of dogs for a whole week. I can’t wait. If you want to reach out, feel free. Thanks for reading this far I’m free anytime. Things are slow at my other job so I can help around the clock. I think I covered this in my bio but I have to write something here I can walk them, take them to a park, let them out In your yard, however you want me to take care of them I’m pretty flexible
“Forest is a great sitter for our pets. We were fostering a dog last minute and Forest was able to take that on unexpectedly. He was super patient with a dog that was totally new to us and pretty fearful. He sends lots of updates and pictures. We appreciated his help tons!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - South Wales
Mickey did a great job with our cat Rocky. She checked in often as we requested and included photos and videos. She also took great care in keeping our bird feeders filled as well as checking on and feeding a stray cat that we've helping. Like us it's obvious that Mickey is a true animal and nature lover. Also, as an overnighter she left our home neat and tidy. She's an ideal sitter for us and now a friend as well.

FAQs for House Sitting - South Wales
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in South Wales on Rover is $61.05 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 563 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across South Wales. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred South Wales walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in South Wales maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Wales choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in South Wales. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 86% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
