About: I've been taking care of dogs since i was a kid. I had my first pet when I was 8 and been a dog lover ever since. Now I have my own two little troublemakers Tobi and Canela, who I've had for 6 years and 2 years respectively. I've had them both since they were small puppies so I have a lot of experience with puppy care. I live a pretty active lifestyle so I love to go for long walks with my dogs and I would definitely be providing the same for your pets. I love to play with dogs and I've definitely been guilty of buying far too many toys for my pups to play with. I provide house sitting, overnight stays, dog walking services, and puppy care. I love to take pictures of animals so you'd also be receiving lots of playtime pictures! Your pets will be my passion and I'm ready to provide any and all services at a good affordable rate! I work full time M-F 9-5 so I can usually accommodate any care around those hours. I typically have very free weekends allowing me to take care of your pets whenever it's needed. I work by the Buffalo Niagara airport so depending on the location I can even provide a quick check-in during my lunch breaks at work. I have a lot of experience with crate training as my younger dog needed it to curb her destructive tendencies when she was left alone at home. I also have plenty of experience with potty training as I've trained both my dogs to be potty trained to go on their pads when they need to potty while I'm away. For any drop in visits I would make sure your pet has had a good amount of enrichment play and gotten plenty of love and affection before my visit with them ends

Marti is such an excellent dog sitter and a truly nice person. Our dog is elderly, hard of hearing, visually impaired, and on a special low protein diet. Marti came to our home to care for Samson for 9 days, and care for him she did! She loved him like we do, making sure all his needs were met. She sent us lots of pictures throughout each day, and she let us know if she needed to leave him for even a couple hours. I recommend Marti without any reservations at all. She is the best!

Ryan was amazing with my two small dogs! I don’t leave home much because it’s hard to find a sitter for them and I don’t trust kennels. I wanted my dogs to be in their own home. I reached out to him on rover and he has solid reviews across the board! I was gone for three days and got tons of videos and pictures of them while away which made me feel so good knowing that they were loved. Will be using Ryan for future sitting visits!

About: My mother had a boarding company so I spent a lot of my childhood helping care for all the doggos. I have also volunteered at numerous shelters & farm sanctuaries & have helped care for even more than just cats & dogs. I also have an 8 year old chocolate lab & 2 five year old kitties myself that I love & care for every day. I am currently working part time, with availability anytime after 4 pm Monday through Thursday! In the next 3 weeks my availability will open up a little bit more! I was raised around both cats & dogs & have a very good understanding of how to read both animals. I have a very soft calm aura as well as a lot of love & patience to build trust with the fur babies.

Judith was wonderful! Sent tons of pics to us and I can see in those pictures that our boys were well cared for and having a great time. The house was left cleaner than when we left bc she even swept the kitchen floor!!! I wouldn’t hesitate to hire Judith to take care of our boys during every trip we take!

Katy house sat our two rescue dogs over a long weekend and she was incredible! She was very detail oriented, followed all instructions and communicated very effectively while we were away, which included great pup pics! Most importantly she took the time to understand one of our dogs specific needs, he was abused in a previous life and can be reactive to new people and she made sure to gain his trust. She is very confident with dogs (both large and small since we have both) and even cleaned our house so that we came home to a tidier space than we left. She went above and beyond, I highly recommend her!!

Mickey did a great job with our cat Rocky. She checked in often as we requested and included photos and videos. She also took great care in keeping our bird feeders filled as well as checking on and feeding a stray cat that we've helping. Like us it's obvious that Mickey is a true animal and nature lover. Also, as an overnighter she left our home neat and tidy. She's an ideal sitter for us and now a friend as well.

About: I was raised on a small family farm, and have cared for goats, chickens, ducks, pigs, and more while a part of that. As a child and teenager, I trained dogs through my local 4-H program, and later on started petsitting for family friends. I've cared for puppies, senior dogs, cats, chickens, cows, pigs, goats, turtles, geese, canaries, ducks, and so many others, and I'm always willing to learn something new! I work full-time, night shifts during the week and mornings on weekends, but I'm typically only gone 8 hours max, so there's still plenty of time for me to provide plenty of care and attention to the pets! I typically stay overnight, and will either crate the pets if needed, or let them sleep with me, I wake up with them and spend my day hanging out with them, playing or just relaxing. I do my best to care for each pet as their owner would, to help minimize stress.

Our dog has some special needs and I always worry about leaving him but Sarah was amazing at understanding him and his needs. The house was exactly as we left it. Overall, a fantastic experience!

About: Growing up my parents got a dog for every child they had and theirs four of us. Ive been in love with dogs since I could remember my first pup ever!! I did spend a year as a bather at Petsmart best job ever so I have no problem with giving your fur babies a nice wash, I’m not much of a runner but I do take my dog on the bike path and I’ll ride while he runs until he’s tired then we’ll both walk back. I love all animals as if they’re mines I get emotionally attached at first site and love and care for them like they are my forever babies. I do currently work 7am-3:30pm but I am very flexible with my hrs and will always be willing to work around your schedule to be with your fur family. I have only trained 2 dogs in my entire life and only got as far as sit right and left paw stay walk and run. I will always have a huge heart for any animal including yours!! FAQs for House Sitting - Elma

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Elma on Rover is $21.09 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 585 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Elma. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Elma walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Elma maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Elma choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Elma. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 87% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
