After a late cancellation by our usual dog sitter for reasons beyond her control my son suggested Rover. In doing a search I found Nina who was close to us and thankfully available. We have a 4 year old German shepherd who is somewhat protective of my wife and I as well as our home; we also have a 1 year old Golden Retriever who is exceptionally shy. During the meet and greet it took all of 2 minutes for our shepherd to walk around the house licking Nina’s hand, Nina is a natural with dogs. It took a little longer for our shy little golden girl to warm up to her but it came through time and positive attention. Nina provided us with regular updates and excellent care for our beloved pups, we couldn’t ask for any more! On our return home the house was immaculate, the dogs were happy and well cared for, Nina was a star and set the bar so high that in the future we’ll be making our vacation plans around Nina’s availability! Rover provided us with a great communication platform and peace of mind for our dog’s care in our absence. Do we recommend Rover: Yes, do we recommend Nina: absolutely!!

About: I’ve always been a huge animal lover, and my family has four dogs of our own! I also completed a two-year Small Animal Science program and currently foster dogs. Through fostering, I’ve helped 7 dogs find their forever homes. I’m comfortable with different personalities, routines, energy levels, and needs, and I’ll always treat your pet like part of the family. Pet care fits really well into my routine because I work a consistent school schedule as a teacher and have plenty of time after work, in the evenings, and on weekends. I love spending that free time going for walks, stopping in for visits, feeding, playing, and giving pets some extra attention. Since I’m used to having four dogs in my family, caring for animals already feels like a natural part of my day. I always make safety, comfort, and trust a priority. I follow each owner’s instructions closely and try to keep pets on their normal routine so they feel as comfortable as possible. I’m respectful of your home, careful with doors, gates, leashes, and feeding instructions, and I’ll always give your pet the attention, patience, and care I’d want for my own dogs.

About: Everyone will say that they love dogs but not only do I love dogs but all animals. I have worked in 4 AZA accredited zoos as well as Walt Disney World. I have worked with dogs, cats, lizards, snakes, donkeys, llamas and many more animals. I am able to communicate well with people about their animals as well as recognize the body language of dogs to understand if they're feeling tired, anxious etc. I also understand the patience that comes with animals, especially dogs that may feel timid around new people, and the need to calmly wait for them to accept you. I am mainly available at night on weekends and weekdays but am available anytime during the day on Saturday and Sundays. I am energetic and can keep up with many dogs by running, playing, walking long distances and more! Pet care fits into my routine very well. I’m available any night on weekends and weekdays and am available all day on Saturdays and Sundays. While caring for pets in a clients home I am respectful of their space and treat it just like I would treat my own home.

Ryan was absolutely AMAZING, and I am so happy we found him! He kept us updated the entire time we were away, and allowed us to fully enjoy our vacation knowing our boy was in good hands. Every video he sent us was our dog crying because he was so happy to be around him. We will absolutely be using him for future get aways and cannot rave about him enough. I am so happy we found out go to person for get aways and I know our dog is obsessed with him and would love for him to stay again. I cannot thank you enough for taking great care of Denver while we were away! We will speak to you soon when we get another trip planned and I am sure Denver will be overjoyed to see you again! 🙂

About: I was raised on a small family farm, and have cared for goats, chickens, ducks, pigs, and more while a part of that. As a child and teenager, I trained dogs through my local 4-H program, and later on started petsitting for family friends. I've cared for puppies, senior dogs, cats, chickens, cows, pigs, goats, turtles, geese, canaries, ducks, and so many others, and I'm always willing to learn something new! I work full-time, night shifts during the week and mornings on weekends, but I'm typically only gone 8 hours max, so there's still plenty of time for me to provide plenty of care and attention to the pets! I typically stay overnight, and will either crate the pets if needed, or let them sleep with me, I wake up with them and spend my day hanging out with them, playing or just relaxing. I do my best to care for each pet as their owner would, to help minimize stress.

Nicole did an excellent job in our home for an extended stay of 13 days with our 2 dogs. She was great with daily pupdates and pictures-which were greatly appreciated because we missed our babies. She dispensed meds several times a day to our senior German Shepherd and was able to keep our very active, lovable, snuggly -yet sometimes naughty Whippet puppy busy. I knew from the minute I met her that she was a great fit for us and I’d use her every time we need someone to stay or drop in for us!

About: Growing up, I absolutely loved animals—my family used to joke that I’d own a zoo one day! Whether it was caring for my own pets or helping animals in need, I’ve always felt a deep sense of responsibility and joy in making sure they feel safe and cared for. Over the years, I’ve rescued a baby deer, birds, and multiple dogs, and each experience taught me how to stay calm, patient, and gentle in all kinds of situations. I bring that same energy to pet sitting—being someone an animal can rely on, and someone owners can trust. My natural love for animals, along with my experience as a nursing student, means I’m observant, nurturing, and not afraid of a little extra care—whether that’s for puppies, seniors, or pets with special needs. I currently work part-time on weekdays, so I’m available for pet care after 4:30 PM during the week. Evenings are a perfect time for walks, drop-ins, or spending quality time with pets who need company after their owners leave for work. On weekends, I’m fully available and happy to offer boarding services, since I’ll be home and can give pets my full attention. My schedule allows for a healthy balance, so I can make sure each animal I care for gets the time, consistency, and affection they deserve. What sets me apart is my calm, compassionate approach and my experience as a nursing student—I’m naturally attentive, observant, and gentle, which carries over into how I care for animals. I’ve grown up with pets and currently care for two cats of my own, so I understand the importance of routines, patience, and respecting each animal’s unique personality. I’m also comfortable with both dogs and cats, including pets who may be shy, anxious, or in need of extra attention. I’m especially good with senior pets, and I’m comfortable helping with medication, special feeding routines, or mobility needs. I take pride in providing a calm, safe environment where pets can feel secure—and owners can feel confident.

About: I have had dogs and cats, and taken care of other small animals for my family for years. I understand the bond of families with their animals and respect that! I am retired from full time work, but do participate in volunteer activity. A part time role of caring for your pet as needed will best fit my schedule. Or providing in home care for your pet while you travel will work as well. I am happy to come and take care of your pets in your home, where they are comfortable in their own environment. Absolutely 11/10 — Nina is the dog and house sitter of our dreams! We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Nina was professional, reliable, and truly caring from start to finish. Our dogs were so happy under her care — they clearly felt comfortable and loved the whole time we were away. She left the house spotless, treated our home and space with complete respect, and even took care of the garden for us. We especially appreciated the frequent photo updates and daily check-ins; it gave us such peace of mind while we were gone. Nina went above and beyond in every way. We would (and will!) book her again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, attentive, and wonderful sitter. Thank you, Nina — you’re the best!

FAQs for House Sitting - East Aurora

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in East Aurora on Rover is $54.39 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 563 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across East Aurora. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East Aurora walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East Aurora maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Aurora choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in East Aurora. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 87% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
