Haley was so great! This was our first time leaving our baby for the weekend, and having her gave us such peace of mind! She sent us pictures and updates at every visit, letting us know our baby was happy and safe! We will definitely be using Haley again!

Jenna was absolutely amazing and our cat immediately accepted her as a preferred visitor by rubbing up against her and purring! Jenna also sent great pictures and wrote detailed rover cards so we knew that our girl was well taken care of. We will definitely be booking with Jenna again!

I would definitely hire Barbie again. Marvelous cat sitter, got along really well with my Annabel Lee, spent time with her, and did everything we asked. Very responsible, I wouldn't hesitate to book her if you need someone to take care of your pet!

Tara has watched my 3 dogs a number of times, this was the first time she did all 3 for multiple days. I never worry about them when they are under her care, which is such a big deal when you have as many dogs as I do who feel like family members. Her reports show how much she cares about my dogs and she’s clearly very responsible (always showing up on time and leaving detailed reports and pictures). She’s been fantastic to have watching over my little herd of terriers.

About: I’ve always taken a special interest in animal care. I have over 20 years experience taking care of various types of pets ranging from rats to large dogs. I have worked as the lead canine educator for Petsmart as well as a sitter for friends and family. I’m new to Rover but not to pet care. I love being able to give pet parents the peace of mind knowing that their pet is safe and getting the care they need with me. I am only self employed otherwise and I enjoy working schedules that allow me flexibility to have a good work/life balance. I am able to schedule pet care around my other responsibilities. I have indoor cats. I advocate for all cats to be indoor. I do not plan on watching pets in my own home. I would prefer clients have a fence but I’m comfortable with pets on a leash.

Ixia was absolutely wonderful with our Pointer/Pit mix, Crimson. This was our first time using Rover, and our first time leaving our dog for an extended period of time. (We had to take a trip out of state on short notice.) From the get-go, Ixia was very professional and attentive during our phone consultation - taking notes, checking details, learning the little intricacies of Crimson's routines. Crimson also has a torn ACL, so special care has to be taken during daily activities to ensure the injury doesn't worsen. Ixia was very reliable, responsive, and communicative with us the entire time. She was on time for every visit, sent us pictures of our pup, played with her, spent lots of time in the yard, and even went above and beyond to accommodate some extra drop-ins we hadn't originally planned. We were very impressed and thankful for the loving care that she provided our animals and by her professionalism and communication. 11/10 recommend, and will definitely be reaching out to her again in the future. Thank you, Ixia!

My wife and I took a trip to Spain to visit family, and since we don’t have anyone nearby to care for our pets, we were a little nervous about leaving them. But we couldn’t have asked for a better person to look after them ❤️ She went above and beyond what we expected, and we’re so grateful for the love and care she gave our animals, Loki and Bella loved her!

About: I've lived with animals all my life, cats, outdoor farm dogs, small indoor dogs, to pitties that need a warm blanket and cuddles during storms. I like to study animal behavior in my free time and really feel that I can understand animals of any size and shape. I pride myself on being someone reliable to contact on short notice for emergencies and things of the like! I have my own car to get around efficiently and I'm almost never busy. I will follow the rules of the home and any specifics for each pet, I run on THEIR schedule to keep them as comfortable as possible while their humans are away.

She has a love for animals for sure and will take care of your furry friend very well. My poor pup Kobe got sick ans she helped out asked questions and was very helpful and kind to both Kobe and myself. I highly recommend Kristie and Dominick.

About: I've been looking after dogs and cats since I was 12! They've ranged from my grandma's shitzu to dog sitting mastiffs! I've even watched reptiles like ball pythons and geckos. I've walked, bathed, fed, watered, and loved them the whole time. I, myself, have 2 bunnies, fish, and a ball python. All together the most dogs I've ever watched at the same time was 28! It was 5 adults dogs, one puppy the equivalent to a toddler, and 22 puppies! I am willing to go to the cape and islands for house sitting! At the moment I'm hoping that pet care will become a full-time job. At the moment I am able to do any day and any time. I, sadly, do not have a cute puppy or kitty to play with your fur baby, however it just means they get more love from me! I can lift a 75 pound dog if needed and have the resources to contain one if necessary.

Angela & Adam had great professional holiday energy for my senior kitties. They sent thorough reports and great/festive pictures that made us laugh which helped my son cause he always misses our fur babies when we are out of town. It is so refreshing to meet folks who genuinely love animals and provide top notch care!

About: Hi there! My name is Sammy and I currently work in Finance remotely. I've always had a love for all animals - dogs, cats, birds, frogs, fish... the list goes on. I have not had the opportunity to have my own dogs/cats in my home, but I've taken care of family & friends' pets for many years and have always given their fur babies such amazing care and attention. I am extremely detail-oriented and follow directions precisely. I'm currently working remotely so I have plenty of time to provide attentive care as often as needed during the week with lots of time for fun! Safety is my #1 priority and I will always contact you if I'm unsure of next steps. Pets are family so they will be given my full care and attention.

About: I’ve been working in the veterinary field for 5 years. All my life I had a soft spot for animals. Big or small. I would be the perfect person to babysit ( yes I said baby sit because they are our fur babies ) your pet because your pet would have my FULL attention. I will treat your pet as if he or she was my own. Animals hold a special place in my heart. Every time I see one it’s like love at 1st sight. “When I look into the eyes of an animal, I do not see an animal, I see a living being, I see a friend, I feel a soul” I do work at a vet hospital, I will try to rearrange my schedule the best I can ! And when I’m not working I will be with your pet ! I will care for your pet as if he/she is my own. From experience I know pets get flustered when routines are messed up just like we do ! I will follow any routine you have so they don’t miss a beat.

Colleen is amazing. She responds quickly to messages and has helped me several times when I’ve had an unexpected family emergency and needed her to help with my dog. My dog trusts her as do I. She is incredibly reliable always arriving on time and letting me know she is at the house. When the service is complete, she sends a note and pictures. I am so happy to have found Colleen to care for my dog!

Colleen is our favorite pet sitter! She is so great with our anxious, shy boy kitty and his alter ego sitter who craves all the attention! She can give him his meds better than I can and they always seem to be relaxed and well looked after each time we go somewhere. Colleen is fantastic!

Haley did an excellent job at taking care of my dear Elton John! He was recently diagnosed with diabetes and I was nervous about leaving him for the first time. But her expertise at medication management soothed my nerves completely! She was so communicative and thorough and I highly recommend her services to anyone! Thank you so much Haley!

This is our first time using Rover and we have to say there isn't a better option for our precious Lacey. We chose Barbara for her experience. After reading her profile and reviews we thought she'd be a perfect candidate. Lacey can be affectionate but often times she's to independent to bother. With the meet and greet she seemed comfortable and even allowed Barbara to pet her which usually takes some time but it was a sign. Everything went so well. We felt at ease knowing Lacey was comfortable with Barbara. We loved all of her pictures and we could tell that Lacey happy with Barbara's company. We're so thankful everything went as well as it did and we truly appreciate how caring and patient Barbara was with her. We would definitely recommend Barbara she really exceeded out expectations.

Jessica was fantastic. I have two quirky cats who like to hide in places that are nearly impossible to reach (and frequently get stuck), and she brought a friend to lure them out to make sure they were okay. Highly recommend.

FAQs for Drop-In Visits - South Dartmouth

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 981 sitters on Rover offering Cat Sitting across South Dartmouth. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in South Dartmouth. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
