About: I grew up surrounded by dogs of all sizes and have volunteered at shelters and adoption events like Rocket Dog Rescue and Pets Lifeline since I was a kid. Through this rescue work, I am experienced in safe new dog introductions and behavioral de-escalation. I adopted my current dog at an event I was working and raised her as my emotional support animal on my busy college campus, which taught me how to keep pets grounded in stimulating environments. She is fantastic with small dogs, so if your little ones stay with us, they will have a friendly companion. While I don't have a private yard, I have a beautiful porch perfect for afternoon sunbathing. Safety is my top priority, so dogs are only ever allowed on the porch when I am home and actively supervising them. To make up for the lack of a yard, I go on frequent adventures! My dog and I regularly visit the lovely park just around the corner to run and search for lizards, and we love walking the perimeter of the Sonoma Square for people watching.

About: I’ve cared for dogs in a wide range of situations, including senior dogs, special-needs pups, and dogs recovering from injuries. Most dogs love nature, and it's exciting to see them perk up on walks at the sound of chirping birds, rustling brush, or a skittering lizard. There are great dog-friendly nature paths in Novato and San Rafael that give the pups both sniffing and social opportunities, so they come home tired and content. What I’m especially good at is communication. I pay close attention to a dog’s eyes, ears, posture, and energy, because they tell you so much before they ever make a sound. I use a gentle “dog voice” (yes, the sweet baby-talk voice) and clear, steady cues, because many dogs respond quickly to warmth, tone, and consistency. Carl is simply the best!!! Our 6 year old rescue dog has tons of anxiety and separation anxiety as well. Carl was able to navigate all of Cleo’s issues seamlessly and Cleo truly liked Carl’s calming playful presence. We will be telling all our friends about how amazing Carl was with our Cleo girl. We appreciate Carl more than words could ever say. He made it possible for us to go on a family vacation knowing Cleo was in good hands. And it was fun getting all of Carl’s photo updates too. Sarah and Matt are experienced dog sitters and they did a great job of looking after my senior dog Pumpkin with his special needs for meds and meals. Pumpkin spent a calm day wandering around the house and garden and going for walks; even more importantly he had a peaceful night.
