“Gianna has stayed with our dog and cat several times on overnight sits. While we were away she would communicate by texting that included photos. On one recent sit she cleared the driveway from snow before leaving. Not only were our pets cared for, but so was our home. Consider yourself very lucky if she is available and accepts your invite.”

“We had a great experience with Courtney! She stayed at our house over the weekend with our dog, and everything went smoothly. Our dog was well cared for, and we appreciated her reliability and communication. We came back to a happy pup and everything in great shape. We would absolutely recommend her and would happily use her again!”

About: I’ve been caring for animals professionally for 10 years, and have had pets my whole life. I have a deep love for animals and have pursued a career in conservation to help protect our wild friends of the woods 🦝 I love animals of all shapes, sizes, and textures, so you can count on me to feed the fish and the lizard while you’re away, too. I have experience with dogs of all breeds, and was a groomer at Petco for a couple of years, so I can also give a pretty good dog bath when they jump into a puddle of mud. Let’s connect and see if we are a good match!! I work part-time in Somersworth and spend my free hours working on my paintings, so I have plenty of extra time to spend loving on your fur babies. I find that animals relax around me when I’m doing my art. My dog loves to lay at my feet and nap while I paint. I offer in-home services including check-ins for being let outside to potty, feeding, and playtime. I usually end up going over the 30 minutes because I feel guilty leaving them haha usually I offer overnight stays as well and can provide walks to most dogs.
“We were very happy to have left our energetic pitbull Gunner in the care of Chandler during our week vacation. We appreciated the ease of communication before, during and after Chandlers stay at our house. Gunner was in great spirits when we got home as well the house was just as clean as when we left it. We would certainly recommend Chandler to look after your pup as well we will definitely re-hire Chandler in the future.”

“Kate is the best. My fur babies are always so happy when we get home. She is extremely respectful of our home. It’s always hard to leave your babies but knowing they are being taken care of so well makes going on vacation that much sweeter”

“Cassandra is a warm, kind, and responsive person. She really enjoys your pets and you’ll get some cute stories about their antics while you’re away! I was reassured about my cats being ok and cared for, as well as entertained and, the most important!, they got their treats. So I’m not really sure how much they really missed me!”

“Courtney did a wonderful job caring for our two dogs while we were away! We came home to two happy dogs and a house that was clean and tidy. She responded quickly and kept us in the loop the entire time. I would highly recommend, Courtney.”

“Kevin did a very good job. Our pets were healthy and happy. He provided just the right amount of updates. He is a very nice person as well. Hoping we can continue to use his services in the future.”

About: I have been surrounded by animals since I was little. I had cats at home and started horseback riding when I was six. Now, I am living in New Hampshire for 3 years, with my husband, our two dogs, our cat... only our mare stayed in France. I do not work, so I am available to take care of your pets. I can groom them, administer medicine (with clear instructions), walk them or just cuddle them. I may be out 4 hours max for my english lessons. We moved to the United States for my husband's job; I don't work, so I would be delighted to look after your babies as if they were my own. I take English classes twice a week in the morning, but I am completely free the rest of the time. At my home, your dogs will be treated just like mine, with access to the garden and unlimited playtime and naps. Introductions to my own dogs will be handled gently—especially with Flack, who can take a little time to warm up but is used to meeting plenty of doggy friends back in France. At your home, I will follow your instructions; since my English isn't perfect yet, please feel free to leave written notes.

“I am so thankful to have found Gwen. They’re so good with my St Bernard, who can be an absolute handful. They are friendly, responsible, and expertly communicative. It was so hard leaving my dog for the first time with an overnight sitter and Gwen made it much easier. Thank you so much!!!”

“Makenzie took such great care for our fur babies and they loved her in return. Makenzie is a great communicator, punctual and respectful of our requests and our home. If we go on another trip, we will for sure contact her and I recommend her 100%. She also sent us texts and photos of the dogs and cat. Loved that! Thank you Makenzie!”

“We were very happy with Lee! While we were away for the weekend, Lee stayed at our home watching our dog, Roxy. We received pictures and updates daily. When we returned, everything looked great! We appreciate Lee taking good care of Roxy and would have Lee dog sit again.”

“Catherine was great with our 2 dogs. She is attentive and responsible, and our dogs loved her. She’s studying to be a vet so she also had good questions. We would recommend her highly!!”

I have experience with animal behavior, puppies, older dogs, cats, and everything in between I am seasonally employed and looking to fill some gaps during the off season. I have my own family obligations, so the flexibility of Rover works well for me. I have a large private yard with lots of woods on a dead end road. Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Somersworth
Caitlin was such a great sitter for my professional couch potato, Rosie, who can be a bit nervous around strangers initially. Not only did my pup warm up to her immediately, but they spent plenty of time in the sunshine, Caitlin was very patient with her on walks (Rosie is very slow and stubborn on leash), enjoyed lots of cuddles and belly rubs, and even played fetch or tug-of-war after mealtime, which tends to be her most silly time of day when she gets wild eyes and very brief but completely unhinged zoomies. Caitlin also took plenty of photos so that I felt comfortable during her first stay with Rosie. We look forward to many more!

We have had Chandler look after our pitbull Gunner 2x now. We felt comfortable leaving our guy with him again knowing he was in good hands! Gunner seemed in great spirits when we got home so we knew we made the right choice having Chandler look after him while we went away for the week :)

Keegan was an absolute delight while I was away for several days, taking care of my pups at home. Not only is Keegan highly qualified with animals, but she also has an exceptional ability to communicate effectively with humans. Keegan is an excellent choice if you’re looking for someone to take care of your furry ones.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Somersworth walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Somersworth maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Somersworth choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Somersworth. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
