“Amazing all around. Great communication, accommodated my dogs special diet when she had an upset stomach, took care of the house and left it clean. Strongly recommend and would book again.”

“Isabella did a great job feeding our kitties while my husband and I were out of state on separate work trips. She was easy to coordinate with and accommodated our unplanned schedule change without issue. I love that she sent pictures every morning and evening and made sure to get both cats :3”

“Meghan was an excellent house sitter. She has earned and maintains our trust with both our house and our pets. We would definitely book with her again. She is tidy, professional, and communicates exceptionally well. A+++”

“Sam is awesome! She took excellent care of our dog and cat while we were away visiting family. She was very communicative and sent updates and pictures every day. She gave extra love to our dog, Luna, who is afraid of fireworks- making sure she was home during the fireworks time, and comforting Luna throughout the night. She even suggested a product (the happy hoodie) which helped Luna stay calm, and it was very thoughtful for Sam to think of that! We felt completely confident that our fur babies were in good hands while we were gone. And she also took good care of our house- even offering to vacuum to keep up with the crazy amounts of dog hair Luna sheds. Thank you so much, Sam! We’re looking forward to having you pet sit for us again!”

“1000/10 recommend. Having a Rottweiler who is super energetic, worries me to leave him with just anybody. She exceeded my expectations. Also sent photos and videos everyday which I LOVE. Highly recommend!”

“We were able to book Evan on short notice to spend time with our two cats when we had a sudden out-of-state schedule issue. Evan kept in contact with us and was respectful of our home. Our cats were happy and healthy when we got home, I can tell they were well taken care of and liked having Evan around. Thank you!”

“Julia was amazing! She was so communicative and we got home to a happy and healthy pup (and a 100% clean apartment!) I could tell she was spending a lot of time with our buddy and really appreciated her attention and support. Would absolutely book again!”

“Jenna took excellent care of my cat Voodoo while I was away. She spent time with him daily and saw that he was well fed and kept him company. She is pleasant and professional. I would be happy to employ her again.”

About: Knowing your pets are a part of your family, its my intentions to provide an opportunity for your pet to at its best. That means learning your pets personality and needs. My Career also entails skills with animals care specifically for sick animals, not that I am veterinary doctor, meaning I help deal with acute health issues. Being a good listener and observer due to my Scientific Career it's only a matter of time before you realize that you pet just might be excited to visit, and even more happier to return to you. Thanks for asking. My work has very set routine. Therefore when I start a project I know the days that I am available throughout its completion due to having to let processes develop on their own. So I am able to designate time for pet sitting in a routine manner and flexible manner. If I know my clients needs, I can adjust my work accordingly. Thanks for asking. My apartment is definitely animal friendly, with only on carpeted room. I will always notify the owner or any health issue, and with coordinate with the owner emergency protocols. Outside, there is a waterfront your pet can visit for walks, large yards that the pet can explore, and even an enclosed area where your pet can be unleashed so they can get a chance to roam free if ever necessary. As far as individual animal routines for food and walks are concerned, I would only take on a job if I was able to provide the animal with its precise schedule. I find animals are more confident when they know what to expect. Thanks for asking.
“Britney was fantastic! She was communicative and sent daily pics while we were away. We came home to two very happy and tired dogs. We will definitely use Britney again!”

“Nadine did a great job with our five month old puppy! Our puppy loved her at the meet and greet. I wasn’t home at the time Nadine came to walk Sandy so Nadine sent lots of photos and videos and actively walked our puppy and played with her the whole hour of the visit. Nadine was very professional and went the extra mile for us, even fitting us in last minute, in between other obligations!”

About: I’ve grown up with cats and dogs since I could crawl on all fours! I’ve raised multiple kitty litters. I’m totally comfortable with dogs and cats, large and small, old and young. I let out my personal dogs multiple times a day. I feed them breakfast and dinner. Work on some tricks with a reward! And I’m constantly surrounded and comfortable with my family and friends animals. There’s never been a time where I haven’t had a cat and a dog. Throughout the day I take out my 2 dogs in to my fenced in back yard. I have a senior pup so I’m experienced with giving medications too.
“We had an amazing experience with Kimberly! She stayed at our home for five nights with our two dogs and took such great care of them. Her communication was excellent. She checked in regularly and sent us pictures every day, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. Our pups were clearly comfortable and well-loved. We came home to happy dogs and a spotless house. We would absolutely book her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter!”

About: I’ve been in a pet loving family since I can remember. Taking in animals in need and caring for neighborhood pets is something I have been doing since a young age. I am a go to friend for someone needing a house sitter while they are away or just someone to stop in to feed. I have pets of my own including a cat needing medication and have experience caring for cats with special needs. I would love to make my new part time job caring for your pet. I currently work from home, Monday through Friday and have weekends off. I can drop in for a visit or walk your dog anytime with some notice. I am very detail oriented and take pride in doing my very best. I have no issues following specific direction especially for high maintenance or high need pets. From my past experiences with many different kinds or animals I can safely judge when redirection or intervention would be necessary.
“Steph was the best Petsitter we have ever hired! We have four pets with different dietary needs and are on the high maintenance side. Steph handled all the requests professionally and perfectly. Will definitely want to hire again!!!!!”

“Carissa took excellent care of our two cats! Sent daily photos and texts which is so reassuring! She even put down ice melt for us when we got snow. Highly recommend her to take care of your pets!”

“Hannah was great with the kids. They took to her right away and settled in. She listened to our instructions and gave great updates. She kept the house clean and the dogs were well cared for. They are looking forward to having her back !”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Somerset walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Somerset maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Somerset choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Somerset. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
