“Cara is awesome. My dog had a health problem while I was away and Cara smoothly managed specialized care including wound care and medication administration. She has excellent communication skills. My dog is always happy to see her. I have used Cara’s services before and plan on continuing to do so.”
“Sara did a wonderful job taking care of Courage! She is dependable and kept us updated with photos and texts. Sara's calm personality is a great match for our older dog. We'll definitely call on Sara again when in need of pet sitting!”
“Joshua did a great job with my 2 dogs, and 11 month old Dalmation puppy, and a 7 year old Hungarian Pumi. He went above and beyond when I did not arrive home when I told him I would be there...( flight delays) Joshua stayed until 1:30 am to make sure the dogs would be OK . The dogs really seemed to enjoy him and were sorry to see him go! I can highly recommend him!”

“Emily was so great with house sitting our dog Winston for almost a week. She took him on multiple walks a day, followed directions very carefully with his medications and left our house spotless when we returned. Will absolutely be using Emily again anytime we go out of town!”

“Had a great experience! Alexis was very patient with our nervous dogs and gave all of them a lot of attention! We received a lot of feedback and pictures. Will definitely be using them again!”

“Katelyn is AMAZING! We returned to some very happy, well taken care of dogs! In fact, we believe that they would've rather seen Katelyn come through the door instead of us! If I could give 10 out of 5 stars, I would!”

About: Since a little girl, taking good care of animals has not been a chore, but a love and compassion for the furry angels we call pets! I am a part time college student, but I’m super flexible with my school hours, while still maintaining good grades. I can be as flexible as needed. I am very active and I live in the landings, with lots of dog parks and many areas to walk and play!!! I don’t currently own any dogs at my current address
“Kenza was awesome with my 2 dogs! I have a senior lab and a 1.5 year old puppy, both of who require a lot of attention. She loved them like they were her own. I would love to hire Kenza again!”

About: I’m a 44 year old animal lover. I was lucky to have spent the last 10 years with my Labrador but unfortunately he had to move on to a world without suffering. He was the best dog ( you know what I mean!!!) now I have too much love to share and space in my heart and would love to share it with your dog. I work 9.5h shifts 4 days a week. So your pet would have to be okay with being able to be home alone for some time. I will make sure tho that before my work day they are the last and after, my first thought. Our house is dog proof (since we owned a dog until recently) and the yard is fenced in and pet friendly. The dog will be able to move around the house freely (when I’m home) and the yard with supervision only!

About: I have experience in pet care for 15+ years and currently work for a pet care company in Savannah that I used to manage for! I currently dedicate 100% of my work time to pet care!! Pet care is my full time job and I’m extremely passionate about caring for all kinds of pets!☺️ I am well acquainted with how important timing can be for babies especially those who need to go outside to potty breaks ASAP or have medication needs! I have experience pilling animals and giving injections as needed! I have worked with special needs cats before, and pride myself on befriending even the most difficult babies, though I feel they are only difficult because they need more time to trust people☺️💖
About: Hi! I would love to help you out and let you have a piece of mind that your 4 legged loved one is well taken care of. I have a 2.5 year old German Shepard named Bailey and a cat named Ollie! I recently had our 8 year old Springer Spaniel pass due to health issues and it was very heartbreaking for us as he was mine and my husbands first dog together when we were in high school so I feel doing Rover will be a good outlet for me to take care of animals. I have been caring for animals since I was very little. We always had a pet. My passion is kids and animals and I can assure you your fur baby will be in very good hands! I will check in with you so you know how they are doing while they are in my care. I am a very flexible person and I can't wait to work with you and your babies! Kelcie Gray I’m a stay at home mom with a 4 year old and my 9 year old daughter is in school all day :) very flexible My dog and cat are very well taken care of and we give them their food and water every day as well as their daily vitamins. I’m very flexible and am a full time online student so I can work with any schedule. I am available almost every day and time. I ensure the pet is safe at all times and well taken care of. I will also keep your home tidy while you are away if I have access to a broom or dust pan to keep hair to a minimum for you when you come back home. :)
“Thomas was absolutely wonderful to work with. He sent a bunch of photos and videos didn't hesitate to reach out with questions. This was our first time using Rover. We were a bit nervous to leave Seuss with someone we didn't know well, but, after this experience, I'm pretty sure Seuss would prefer we leave town again soon for more time with Thomas lol”

“My dog is usually shy and skittish with new people, but she warmed up to Valencia very quickly! Our usual sitter was out on vacation and the sitter we booked instead had a family emergency, so I had to find a sitter last minute on a holiday weekend. Valencia was available to watch my dog on very short notice, and she did great!”

“Eli was absolutely amazing. He stayed the weekend at our house and watched our girls (our two doodle plus a little old man). He couldn’t have been sweeter!! The house was perfect condition and all the pups were very well taken care of. We will definitely use Eli the next time we go out of town!”

We had a wonderful experience with Sam while she stayed at our home. She took excellent care of our dogs, kept us regularly updated, and made sure they got plenty of enriching nature walks. The custom artwork she created of our animals was such a thoughtful and special touch. We couldn’t be happier and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Skidaway Island walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Skidaway Island maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Skidaway Island choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Skidaway Island. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
