Brooke was wonderful and caring. She took great care of our cat for over two weeks. Brooke does seem to prefer to visit later in the evenings, which wasn’t a problem once I figured this out. We will definitely be using her again.

There are not enough good things I can say about Savannah. Truly. She took amazing care of mine and my wife's 3 cats. After having back-to-back issues with 2 different sitters from Rover, it's amazing to know there are those that do actually care, and take what they do seriously. She went above and beyond for things that were never asked, or even expected. She was caring, respectful, and most importantly, understands cats, because she has 1 of her own. Our 3 cats are boys, and are all black. That's a challenge within itself. We left clear easy to follow instructions, and she took them and ran with it. Our cats trusted her early on, they didn't really hide the first time she came over, and that speaks volumes on its own. We will absolutely rebook her for the future. Thank you so much for taking great care of our Buddies Savannah!

About: I have 4 years experience in a pet store, I have a Veterinary Assistant certification from CMU, and am currently in college to get my Veterinary Technician license. I also have 10+ years of taking care of my childhood dogs and now the dog I have currently. Currently my schedule is wide open! Just looking for a side job as I continue my college work. My availability is currently open for any day or time! Currently because of my dog at home I do not offer any services at my residence, but I am confident in my knowledge about how to take care of your pet inside your home!

About: I grew up with lots of pets around the house and absolutely love spending time and playing with them. I’d love the opportunity to help out! I also work at mission point so I know my way around if you happen to be staying here. I’m a big walker and nature lover too so it’s a win-win. I’m available on my days off and before noon! It’s such a nice break to get to go on a walk with a dog or sit with them. I’m able to replace food and water, can play games with the dog and go on long walks. I will give them all of my attention and make sure they’re happy!

About: I have dogsat for friends and family since I was a kid, I worked at a doggy daycare (Paws In The City) in highschool. My family has raised 2 litters of golden retrievers, so I am familiar with how to train and housebreak puppies from a young age. I live with 2 dogs and 3 cats, all with very different energy levels and personalities, I will adjust to your pet's unique needs and routines! I am a student at CMU, so during the semester I will be gone during the morning for classes. I stop by to check on pets during lunch time, and then head back to campus. On weekends I can stay with them the whole day, taking dogs on a hike if the weather is nice, or staying in and playing on my study breaks. I have a pretty open schedule, so I will have a lot of time to spare for pet care. I am willing to stay with your pets overnight if you need, or just stop by regularly throughout the day. I will follow your instructions, and make sure your pets stay fed, safe, and happy while you are gone! I have a lot of hiking trails I want to explore, if you are comfortable with me taking your pup on a fieldtrip. If not, I am happy to walk in your neighborhood and stay closer to home.

About: I have been caring for animals my entire life, with experience ranging from dogs, cats, and rabbits to ferrets, birds, hamsters, and all kinds of farm animals. I also grew up maintaining a 400-gallon fish tank that included a wide variety of fish and even small freshwater sharks, giving me a strong understanding of aquatic care. I genuinely love animals of all kinds and enjoy getting to know their individual personalities, routines, and needs. I believe every pet is unique, and I take the time to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. I have raised two very active 100+ lb German Shepherd/Lab mixes since they were puppies, so I am confident handling large, high-energy dogs. Despite my size, I am fully capable of managing and guiding strong animals safely and effectively. I am happy to assist with all aspects of pet care, including long walks, feeding, bathing, playtime, and providing plenty of attention and affection. I am also comfortable caring for pets of all ages and administering medications when needed (with prior instructions). Additionally, I have long-term experience(10+ years) caring for a Bengal cat with Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD), which has given me hands-on experience with specialized care and medication routines. I am currently a student at Central Michigan University and work part-time with a flexible schedule, allowing me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to your pets. I am available for both daytime visits and overnight stays in your home. I strongly believe pets are most comfortable in their familiar environment, and I strive to maintain their routine while providing consistent care and companionship. I am always happy to provide extra references or additional information to help you feel confident and comfortable. I also maintain a respectful, non-judgmental approach to every home and will always leave your space in the same condition as when I arrived. So never be afraid of how your space might look!

Isaac did really well on our first in-home visit with our German Shepherd, Luna. For a dog that has massive separation anxiety, she was very calm when we got home. I think having Isaac come to the house to let her out and feed her, instead of taking her somewhere to be taken care of, made a big difference. I would not hesitate to ask Isaac to take care of Luna again.

About: I've taken care of several types of species since the age of 10! I treat every animal as my own. I want to keep them happy & healthy while sticking with there daily routine. I am currently a babysitter from 6am-3pm Monday-Friday. My weekends are usually open. I can be flexible! I will make my schedule fit yours! About: I have always had dogs and cats in my life, from training my own dogs to dog/cat sitting for family and friends, I have more experience with big dog breeds rather than little but I am comfortable in my ability to care for all types of dogs and cats. My family has raised puppies multiple times and I have assisted in caring for and training them. I am currently working at dr pol veterinary services, I work Monday and Fridays:8-6, Tuesday and Thursday I work 8-5, and I occasionally work Saturdays from 8:30-12. I am completely free on Wednesdays and Sundays and I’m free in the evenings on the days I work. Currently I am unable to bring other people’s pets into my home because we have three large dogs that aren’t the best when it comes to other animals, but me and my boyfriend are working on renovating a polebarn into a apartment for me and him and we plan on completly fencing the area in for when we eventually get dogs of our own.

About: I have loved and cared for many types of animals since childhood and have had two Beagle babies of my own for almost 10 years now! I will care for your pets as if they are my own. My communication and close attention to detail helps me to follow specific instructions, and as I am very particular about my pets - I understand how to ease the worries associated with someone else caring the way you would. Frequent updates and pictures is the way I roll so you won’t have to worry about a thing. Flexibility is everything to me, also being a caretaker to a grandparent, so if you are not sure if I am a good fit… let’s talk about it! My schedule is a balancing act but I am lucky enough to work from home, which allows me more flexibility with seeing and caring for my furry friends. I understand some things happen in life and I would love to help where I can! I will care for your pets in the exact manner you request, along with extra love, doting, attention, patience and empathy. Trust is everything when it comes to what you love, and my goal is for everyone to have the best experience.

About: I'm a credentialed Veterinary Technician who is capable of handling all dogs- big or small, as well as all temperaments. Special needs dogs are my forte (diabetics, seniors, etc) and hold a special place in my heart. I just finished my associates in veterinary technology. I'm currently working that field but I have a bit of space to be flexible. I'm also open to sitting other animals including exotics like birds, Chinchillas and Sugar Gliders, I've had them before! I have two dogs of my own, one Miniature Schnauzers, one Akita mix and two cats. I've been taking care of animals since I could walk! Now I have a career continuing it and I love it! Feel free to ask me anything! I don't currently do in home petsitting or day boarding unless you're a consistent client- certain arrangements can be made. This can be canines or felines. I am blessed to work from home so I’m able to house sit without restrictions as long as there’s working internet. I am able to be flexible and work with schedules as needed, whether short term or long term. I like to keep routines fairly similar as when pet parents are home with their pets, so they don’t get too stressed. If that’s going on a 4 mile hike everyday or simply taking an hour to sit on the couch and give belly rubs, I’m their gal.

Rain went above and beyond, and was so thorough taking care of Skyler while we were on our honeymoon cruise for 12 days up in Alaska. The visit to visit updates and pictures that we would get were so helpful, and knowing that Skyler was in such good care. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter would recommend rain to anyone who is in need of a pet sitter.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 239 sitters on Rover offering Dog Sitting across Shepherd. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

A pet sitter can provide focused care sessions, help your pet’s routine stay on track, or keep you updated on your pet’s mood and energy levels.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Shepherd stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Shepherd choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.

To find sitters in Shepherd with recurring or weekly availability, select "Repeat Weekly" and which days you’d like them to care for your pet.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Shepherd. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 91% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
