Abigail was a great sitter for our crew (2 dogs and 6 cats). She took thorough notes at our meet and greet, was super responsive and provided plenty of updates for us while we were away. It was clear that all the pets enjoyed her company and trusted that she was there to care for them. She left the house in great shape as well and even left us an adorable memento from her time caring for our pets. Would definitely want her to sit for us again!

Iví was incredible. She was very sweet and took great care of our pets and our home during a weekend stay. We came home to a clean, tidy home and two very relaxed, happy dogs. Iví also provided updates and made sure to let us know how the pups were doing during their stay. We would absolutely hire Iví again.

Jaclyn was amazing! She gave us updates throughout the weekend and left the house even better than we left it. Loki warmed up to her and she understood the process for getting a Shiba to accept you into their pack. I would absolutely recommend Jaclyn to anyone!

About: Experienced pet-sitter with a widely flexible schedule available for any needs you may have for your pet! On top of pet-sitting and day trip/walking experience I have experience as an assistant groomer from working for The Green Groomer in Northampton, MA which you are welcome to get in touch with as a reference. I also worked at a Dog Daycare in the Boston area before moving to Western MA, where I was involved with many responsibilities surrounding the pups including providing their meals, pick-ups/drop-offs, de-escalation of conflict, and general moderation of behavior. Working in this field has granted me the opportunity to work with dogs of all temperaments, ages, and sizes and has taught me how to interact with pups from all walks of life. On top of that I have experience with bathing, nails, and ear cleanings from my time at the Green Groomer. My schedule is extremely flexible, with open availability during the week before 3PM, making check-ins during the work day hassle free, and my shift never getting out later than 10:30PM, so overnight boardings are still not a problem during my work week. I also have Friday-Sundays off so long weekend boardings are always an option. Please let me know in advance of any house rules for your pup (i.e furniture rules, dietary restrictions, routine scheduling) and I will be sure to follow them with the same consistency you would. In regards to boarding with me they would be boarded in a pet-free, smoke-free, child-free condo with a large unfenced yard in the back for leashed outings when needed!

About: I’ve had cats and dogs my whole life and have been tasked as their primary carer frequently. I’ve done plenty of cat and dog sitting for friends and family over the years as well! I’ve worked with elderly animals that require medication, giant dogs like Saint Bernards, and anxious animals. I’m also a plant lover, so I’m happy to water any plant-babies in the home as well. I currently work part-time a few days a week, so I will need to be out of the house for a couple afternoon hours occasionally. Otherwise, I am available to tend to pets in the morning, afternoon before/after work, and before bed. I make sure to wake up early to feed/walk the pets, as well as letting them out before/after I leave for work, and again before bed. I always make time to spend time with the pets and play. If a field trip is possible, I also have a very friendly black lab at home who would love to play in our fenced in yard with your pup!

I am well-versed in animal body language and I have experience handling pets of many temperaments, including anxious, reactive, senior, and medically complex animals. I’m comfortable administering medications, monitoring for signs of illness or stress, and helping pets feel safe. My background in veterinary medicine has taught me the importance of patience, reliability, and attentive care, and I treat every animal as if they were my own. My schedule is very pet-care friendly, and I’m used to building my daily routine around animals’ needs. I’m experienced with feeding schedules, walks, medications, playtime, enrichment, and monitoring animal behavior and health. About: I’ve had pets since I was about 4 years old, and am experienced with caring for cats and dogs. Any needs they have, I will take care of them all - from simple company when you're at work, to walks, giving meds and overnight stays! I have experience training puppies too, from potty training to the classic "stay", "sit", "come", "leave" etc. commands. I have a large dog myself so size of your pet is no issue. Anything you're unsure about, shoot me a message! I work full time at a school but am free weekdays after 2pm until around 10pm. On weekends I am free from Friday afternoon until Monday morning so I can do overnight stays too if needed. Depending on the care required, I will feed pets, give them meds, take them outside, play games/fetch/etc., brush them, empty litter boxes and so on. I have had several cats and dogs of my own and cared for many more, so I am comfortable with adjusting to their different personality types.

Bree was fantastic! She is definitely an animal person who connected with our dog immediately. She sent fun pictures that reassured us how happy he and our cat were and also let us know she was remembering his meds and walks. She left out place as clean or cleaner than when we left. She was very open to communication. We would recommend her to any and all!

About: When I was growing up, I was always caring for at least two dogs and cats at my family’s house. Neighbors and friends also made me their go-to dog sitter when they went away. I have loved caring for two greyhounds, four loveable slobbering hunting hounds, a giant golden who always thought he was a puppy, and one super sweet bullmastiff. Since my landlords do not allow pets, I am looking to give my attention to someone else's canine. I am comfortable with all sizes of dogs. I especially appreciate dogs that behave well on leashes and like big walks. I would like to help care for dogs in the Pioneer Valley, ideally around Amherst, Deerfield, and Northampton. If you are looking for a trustworthy, reliable, and experienced dog sitter/walker then let's talk! I look forward to meeting you and your dog(s)! Cats are cool too 👍 This winter and spring I have flexible working hours. I would love to break up the working day by visiting your pet and going for a walk. I will always provide gentle and loving care to your pets whether that’s playing outside or inside. Wherever care is given, I will always be mindful about respecting your living space

Emily did a wonderful job with our special needs cat, Dakota. Dakota is paralyzed in the back after having been hit by a car years ago. He gets around ok dragging his back legs but he has to have his bladder expressed three times a day. Emily had experience doing this in the past (I think in some kind of vet assistant capacity or something like that) and successfully managed Dakota when we went out of town for a few days. Dakota stayed at Emily's house with her cats and it all worked out fine. Emily's house is so cat friendly with cat climbing things all around and Emily even mentioned that down the road she might have cat grass (that our cat loves to eat) since she grows it herself. We were also happy that Emily was fine with us leaving all Dakota's regular collection of favorite things: his little cat house, cat bed, and even the ramp we made for him to climb up on couches. It was so nice for us to think of Dakota in a friendly home rather than in a cage at the vet. We loved how Emily was great about communicating both in terms of photos showing Dakota was doing well and also asking intelligent questions to make sure the expressing of the bladder was going well. When we picked Dakota up, he was in fine shape and clearly had been well-taken-care of. We'll definitely use Emily again!

FAQs for House Sitting - Shelburne Falls

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 451 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Shelburne Falls. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Shelburne Falls walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Shelburne Falls maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Shelburne Falls choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Shelburne Falls. On Rover:

  • 87% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
