She is an excellent communicator, my pups absolutely loved her and she left us at ease to enjoy our trip. We couldn’t stand the thought of our pups staying anywhere other than their home. Will definitely be working with her again!”

About: Since I was a young girl, I have always been fascinated by animals—particularly dogs. I begged my parents to get me my first pet—Jasper, a rescued Labrador retriever—at age 7. Taking care of Jasper was my main focus as well the odd assortment of fish and hamsters we had. When Jasper passed, and I graduated high school, my next door neighbor had a litter of golden retriever puppies. I was ready to have another animal, and that’s when Kensie came into my life. Kensie was my soul dog, and she passed away two years ago. We did everything together—going to dog parks around town, Zilker park, and even red bud (before the algae), and going to dog-friendly establishments in Austin. She was my best friend. Unfortunately, her last few months on earth were extremely challenging. I was up with her three to four times a night (sometimes more), administering multiple medications, and helping her stand/walk. When the time came to say goodbye, I could barely make the decision to let her go. I miss her so much, but because of my current living situation, don’t have the opportunity to get another dog. That’s where Rover comes in. I love animals, and am extremely responsible when it comes to taking care of someone’s pet. This will give me my ‘fix’ and also be a productive side hustle for me. It will be an honor to walk//watch your pet. I will give the very care and concern I gave my own pets. Not only have I had my own pets, but I have experience with a variety of breeds—including catahoulas and boxers. As mentioned above, I have extensive experience working with senior dogs and administering medication. I’m currently in a transition phase in my life, and am looking for something productive and rewarding. I have pretty much limitless availability to cater to whatever your dog may need. At the moment, I can’t accept any dogs into my home, but if given the opportunity to stay at a client’s house, I would follow all instructions given while simultaneously respecting the space and showering your dog with love and attention.

About: I have been providing loving and affordable pet sitting for family and friends since I was 18. I understand wanting a peace of mind when it comes to your pets and I enjoy being able to give people the freedom to enjoy their time away from home knowing their pets are taken care of. My schedule is usually pretty flexible so please feel free to reach out and we can discuss the best option for your needs. The initial meeting with you and your pets are, in my opinion, one of the most important interactions to ensure a comfortable and successful experience. With that said, I can’t wait to meet y’all! I have a full time job Monday through Friday, 6AM-2PM, but I’m able to provide care around that schedule. Saturday and Sunday are my fully open days. I care for pets the same way their owners would care for them. I think consistency is very important in keeping pets comfortable while their family is away.

About: I think dogs and horses are man's best friend. Our family has 2 dogs (lab and aussie) who are full of energy and love to exercise and play outside. I'm always making sure they have enough water with this Texas heat and that their paw pads aren't being scorched by the heat of the pavement. I have a lab that hates taking meds and I have perfected the administration by offering copious treats and lots of love. Our dogs are like family and I like to treat every animal with care and kindness. Also, I love taking pictures to reassure families they are doing ok as much as possible. I'm a SAHM and have a ton of time to dedicate to working with your schedule and your dog's needs. Happy to help you in a pinch, too! Both our dogs are spoiled rotten and taken care of to the nines! I try to ensure that every dog has what they need to be comfortable and feel loved:)

About: I’ve had dogs my entire life and have experience caring for dogs of all sizes, from small breeds to large dogs. I currently have a Labrador Retriever mix of my own, so I’m very comfortable with energetic dogs, daily walks, and all of the little things that come with caring for a dog. I understand how important it is to have someone you trust caring for your dog. I’m attentive to each dog’s individual personality, routine, and comfort level, and I’ll treat your dog like they’re my own. I’m happy to provide walks, drop-ins, feeding, playtime, potty breaks, and plenty of attention and affection! 🐾 I work from home so I am pretty flexible on when I will be available. I will mostly be available in the mornings and evenings during the week and on weekends, all day. I have a fenced in backyard and plenty of room to run around! I take a gentle approach to new animals until they feel comfortable and I can learn their needs and behaviors.

About: I have lots of experience with fostering dogs and cats! From senior dogs, puppies, kittens, to senior cats, I have experience fostering. Loved all of them! I am available for boarding on the weekends or play dates/day care on fridays. I work full time, but if you need a pet sitter just for the evening, I would love to do that too. Simple minimal home with space to run around, live close by parks (for an active pup), but would also love cuddle time with more introverted pets too :)

First time using Rover & Linda was great! We have a very old, cranky cat. Linda checked on her three times a day & very patiently sat with her, pet her, gave her medicines, took care of her needs, & provided wonderful attention. The photos that Linda shared at each visit reassured us that our cat was well taken care of (& not missing us a bit!). Thanks so much 💖

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
