Amber was the best dog sitter for our pup Nalu! She kept in touch sending us fun photos of Nalu on walks and left the house super clean. We are excited to have her back again soon!

About: I have had a dog my entire life. I have watched over my neighbors dogs and cats. I love meeting new dogs and love puppies, especially since I now have one of my own. I work part-time during the weekends but have plenty of time to spend time with your dogs and am only at work for a couple of hours. I personally have a fenced in back yard and we keep many toys outside. I also take dogs on multiple walks a day and will keep the dog on the schedule you have them on when you are home.

About: Providing drop ins, dog walks and overnight stays! Overnight stays are my favorite. I am currently serving in a cafe 4 days out of the week. I am able to do breakfast and dinner walks and feeding and multiple drop ins on my off days. I have been dog sitting for 20 years now for family friends and a small network of Charleston locals across Folly, West Ashley, downtown, Monks Corner, Mt P and IOP. And, had clients in Oklahoma & New York! I am passionate about providing good care for your pups and going the extra mile in communication during our time together. Caring for your pups is one of my greatest joys in life. I am working part time in a cafe currently. Typically have early morning availability, mid afternoon and overnight availability. I love overnight stays with pups. I follow instructions provided I.E. special diets for dogs and requests to walk the dog. And, maintain a clean space in your home at all times. And, bring my own cleaning gear.

Abigail was amazing! Very easy to communicate with and took excellent care of our home and our pets. It was such a relief to know that our dog and cats were in such good hands, and it allowed us to enjoy our time away without having to worry about a thing. We got wonderful updates and pictures every day, and the pets looked like they were having such a wonderful time we worried they wouldn't want us to come back! Our senior dog is getting up there in years and has some additional needs as a result, but Abigail jumped right in without hesitation and made sure that he had everything he needed to be comfortable and happy. If you want peace of mind that your pets are being well taken care of, your home is being looked after, and that you'll return to find your house cleaner than you left it, Abigail is the sitter for you.

Madison is responsible, kind, and an excellent communicator. She took care of my dog when he was at his worst possible behavior with some stomach issues and she did not flea, and she let me know what was going on and she was patient and kind and wonderful. There is no one I would trust more.

James was phenomenal. Can't say more than enough. Our cat and senior dog were very well cared for. Our cat, is normally mad when I leave even for work and will hide in response but when we arrived home, he happily greeted us. Even funnier, as we settled in for the night, our dog came out lookong for him, and we know exactly where he sat because he went to that spot, sniffed around and settled there as if he was waiting for him to come back. It was very sweet and we were touched and comforted by that display (our dog normally sticks to my son when he's home). We will absolutely ask him to sit again when the need arises. Thank you 1000 times over.

Heidi did a wonderful job taking care of our elderly dog (Josie) who needs multiple medications at various times of the day. Heidi got the meds into her (not an easy task) without trouble, understood Josie's limitations and worked with them, and quite obviously made much of her. After just a few days, Josie was sleeping on the bed. Heidi also kept us well informed, sent us marvelous photos, and left the house spotless. We'll be calling again.

About: I've taken care of dogs since I was a child, and have had over seven dogs growing up. I have a loving dog of my own. I absolutely love dogs and I always have! I am a recent law school graduate, waiting on my bar exam results. I love going for long walks and staying active outside, and also am great at relaxing and hanging around, whatever you may need! Reach out anytime :) I am not working, so I am very available and flexible! I am waiting for my bar results which takes awhile to get our scores back. I live in a two bed room apartment complex with a dog park in Johns Island, which has lots of walking trails that I love to go on.

About: I just moved to Charleston, but have been a pet sitter for many families in Georgia, Florida, and Colorado. I was a live in nanny for 2 years, and during that time, the family got a puppy that I helped take care of. I also have a senior cat who I rescued as a kitten. I absolutely love animals and have had many different pets throughout my life (bearded dragon, dog, cats, fish, bunnies, geckos, snake, turtle, etc.). I am a part time wedding planner and substitute teacher, so I make my own schedule. I have a 5 year old daughter that I drop off at school at 7:15am and pick up at 2:30pm, so I have the whole day to do whatever I need to do without her. She also loves pets, so if your pet likes children, she may join after school! I have a screened in patio and am on the first level in my apartment building. We have lots of trees/greenery in the complex and there are many parks nearby. If I am in your home, I will treat it just like mine. I do ask that my 5 year old daughter is welcome in your home for overnights, and she can stay in the same bed as me.

What sets me apart from other sitters is my calm, nurturing approach and my commitment to safety. About: Hello, I’m John and I just moved here to SC from DC for my wife’s residency year. Currently we have one cat (truth be told I’d love to adopt a dozen more) and since starting a remote job down here I decided I’d joined Rover to play with more cats and dogs in our new town! Truth be told I prefer animals to people. I have grown up around pets my whole life since my family and I have fostered (and foster failed) puppies, kittens, cats and dogs for several years. Fostering from our local shelter has taught me how to work with dogs and cats of all ages, stress levels and temperaments and needs. From high energy puppies, to bottle feed kittens, and lethargic senior dogs, I have gotten the chance to care for so many different kinds of critters! Every critter is my kind of critter. I recently moved and I am waiting for my new job to start. I have a lovely cat, but I miss my family's pets back home. I've been looking for the excitement and energy of all of the critters running around. I'd love to spend some time with all of the well-loved pets of Charleston. I understand that it is stressful to leave one's pets behind on a trip, or even just to go to work. I look forward to helping lessen the stress. I love spending time with animals and making them comfortable around me.

FAQs for House Sitting - Seabrook Island

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 1,537 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Seabrook Island. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Seabrook Island walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Seabrook Island maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Seabrook Island choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Seabrook Island. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
