“Gerry is the best. We just left our puppy with her for his first overnight stay and he was received with lots of love and attention. Would definitely recommend Gerry to others.”

“Katie was fantastic! She took great of our dog for an overnight and was very conveniently located close to Asbury Park. She was friendly and easy to communicate with, replied quickly and asked good questions about providing care. He enjoyed playing with the other dogs in her care during the afternoon and settled in nicely for a relaxing night. She made sure he was comfortable and had everything he needed. I would definitely use her services again. Thank you Katie for taking such good care of our pup- highly recommended!”

“Mark was an excellent person for our dog Maggie. He was completely attentive to her needs and followed our instructions for her. She was able to settle in at his home as though she were at ours. We definitely plan to have Mark sit Maggie again in the future if needed. We highly recommend Mark for anyone who might need his service . Thank you for the great care you gave to our dog Maggie!”

“Thank you Bob for taking such good care of Beauty. The walks, the fresh water made me feel secure. Great understanding of dogs. Really appreciate that. She was happy for the rest of the day.”
“Lucky enjoyed his weekend with Cheryl, Gus, family & friends:) And we are grateful to have connected with Cheryl to know Lucky was in loving, experienced hands and had a great backyard & home to feel at home in. We also appreciated the thoughtful communication and fun pictures of Lucky & friends when we were away. Thank you!”

“We had such a great experience with Carly! Fig absolutely loved spending time with Willow- they became fast friends. It was such a comfort knowing Fig was in a warm, caring home with another sweet pup to play with. Highly recommend!”

“Bridgette was a great host for my pup-son! When i dropped him off, the first thing she said was, “I’ve been excited all day waiting for him!” How comforting that was to hear?! She sent ample pictures and even videos! She took him to the dog park, on long walks, and challenged him with puzzles. My little fella usually takes a while before he feels comfortable eating with a new sitter but he had no issues with her! She even fed him his motion sickness medication before I picked him up. I would recommend Bridgette to any and all of my friends/family. Your pup will be in good hands. Added bonus that she was able to squeeze him in on short notice!”

“Daisy had a great time over Danielle’s home. I received pictures of her running with the other dogs and that’s exactly what my dog likes to do. She stayed over four nights. Each of the dogs has a fluffy dog pad to rest and sleep on. The yard is fenced and large. The dogs are fed in their own spaces preventing food aggression. It was important to me that Daisy have her own water system set up and Danielle welcomed my request. My dog just does not share water. So it’s these things that allow you to go away and know that your dog is going to be okay. I have and will continue to use Danielle.”

“Michelle was fantastic! She was so communicative and sent so many photos of Russell throughout the day which was so appreciated. We could really tell he got the same type of care and attention that he does at home. I would highly recommend Michelle!”

“Lorrie is amazing! If you're looking for a place where your pet is going to be safe and comfortable then look no further. My Layla was able to socialize and play with other dogs in a comfortable space with the care of an amazing person.”

“Rachel is amazing. She is very accommodating and she really took great care of Chloe for 2 weeks. She's a lifesaver. She got along great with George and Chloe fit right in with them. It gave me a huge piece of mind knowing how well she was cared for. I highly recommend Rachel to watch your loved one. She's great”

“Thank you so much to Elina and her wonderful family for taking care of Jax! She watched our dog for 2 1/2 weeks and it went so well. This was our first time using Rover and we will absolutely be using Elina again for the next time we go away! Elina responded quickly to our request and made sure to keep us up to date with how Jax was doing while we were on our trip. She has a wonderful backyard where Jax really enjoyed running around and playing in the sun! Thank you again for making our first Rover experience so great Elina!”
“Luz kept us informed all along the way as we were gone on our trip, gave updates and sent pics of our lil boys to keep us reassured! And worked with us for a last min request and was amazing at responding back very quickly! We would definitely recommend her for anyone considering someone to take care of their fur babies while away from home!!”

“Samantha did a great job watching Millie, our high-strung Boxer-Bulldog mix. She was attentive to her needs and did a great job of allowing our Millie to warm up to her on her own terms. Samantha also sent us daily updates and pics so we never felt too far removed from our pup. I highly recommend Samantha!”

About: My home was set up for an 80lb dog with a fenced in yard and areas around the house. Should be very comfortable for any dog. I’m very attentive to the pets, making sure their needs are met and that they are safe and sound. When I take on a job, my schedule is pretty cleared out for it since I’m a retired person. I can schedule my time around the care of your pet. I care for pets in my home by keeping an eye on them. Taking them out into the fenced yard and walking them twice a day. If they like to play fetch or tug I’ll do that with them too. I keep them fed, watered, exercised and rested.
“Wonderful experience from the meet until pick up. Meg able to accommodate us for a last minute boarding. She sent photos & video daily which was amazing. She also gave us detailed daily updates on how our pupper ate and played. 10 out of 10 experience!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
