“Leigh was the absolute best! She followed our instructions to the T, sent numerous updates and pictures, and even let our furbabies sleep with her. I can't say enough great things about her. Can't wait to have her back next time.”

About: I’ve cared for energetic puppies and senior pets, handling feeding, walks, routines, basic training, playtime, and extra patience while learning each pet’s unique personality. I’m a stay-at-home mom, so I have a flexible schedule, which gives me plenty of time to provide dependable pet care, walks, playtime, feeding, and attention throughout the week and on weekends. I treat every pet and home with the utmost respect and genuine care. I carefully follow your instructions, lovingly supervise your pets, keep their routines consistent, and always keep you updated with their well-being.
“Lily was an amazing house sitter and took such great care of our dog Marley! She sent daily updates with photos and we knew Marley was well exercised with daily walks and given lots of love. We came home to a clean house and a very happy dog. I highly recommend Lily and will definitely hire her again. Thank you Lily!!”

About: I am a fifth year college student who is not used to living without dogs as before school I lived with 3 dogs and one cat. I am used to feeding dogs specific meals they need, taking dogs on walks and being outdoors, giving them love, clipping nails, etc, etc. I also have had to give my pets at my childhood home medicine and drops, so I am used to those kinds of treatments, as well as dealing with going bathroom in the house or putting on doggy diapers! I have also always had a family cat which I feed, brush, play with, etc. I am an outdoor person who loves animals and I am hoping to be able to give some animals love when I cannot be home! I am currently employed virtually, so I do most of my work from home! I work from around 8-4 but take breaks to go on walks and exercise. I live in a house on Mission Beach, so while we do not have a yard, we have a nice home and a 30 second walk to the beach and beach boardwalk which is perfect for walks and fun!
About: I’ve been a dog person for as long as I can remember. We got our first pup when I was 5, and I’ve been obsessed ever since. I’m always the person who finds the dog first at someone’s house, and my camera roll is probably 90% pictures of animals. I’ve lived with dogs for about 30 years and have been around all kinds of personalities, from high-energy pups to sleepy seniors. I’m especially comfortable caring for multiple pets at once and making sure each one gets the attention, routine, and care they need. I’m comfortable following your pets’ normal routines at home, including feeding schedules, medications, walks, enrichment, basic commands, and training. I’ve worked with professionally trained dogs and am familiar with e-collars and other owner-provided training tools when those are already part of your dog’s routine. I’m a remote designer and small business owner, so my schedule is very flexible and I can spend a lot of time with your pets while you’re away. I’m also naturally tidy and respectful of other people’s homes, and I’ll treat your house like it’s my own. Whether you have one pup or a whole little crew, my goal is for everyone to feel comfortable, happy, and cared for while you’re gone, and for you to be able to relax knowing your pets and home are in good hands. I work remotely and run my own small business, so my schedule is super flexible. I can work around your pet’s normal routine and I’m around a lot during the day. Walks, meals, potty breaks, playtime, or just hanging out while I work all fit pretty naturally into my day. I try to keep things as normal as possible for your pets while you’re gone. I’ll follow their usual routine, feeding schedule, house rules, and anything else you normally do with them. I’m also really respectful of people’s homes and always want you to feel comfortable knowing both your pets and your home are being taken care of.
About: I've grown up in a household full of pets! I currently have a pup of my own, and have had 3 dogs previously (from pups to senior dogs.) We also have a family cat, so I have experience in that field as well. All animals will get all the love, care, and walks they need from me! Im currently working with a very flexible schedule that I create myself, so I'll have plenty of time to care for your animals! I'm currently open to any day of the week. Whether is just walks and play time, or for multiple days. I have a crate trained, social, and lovable pup so if your dog needs a pal she can help with that. I will provide any specific care or schedule your animals need to be on, and plenty of love that comes with that!
“Maci took great care of my sweet girl. She provided regular updates and photos and I feel my dog was well taken care of. I wound totally recommend Maci as a sitter. Thank you!”

“Paris took great care of my sometimes anxious dog. She also looked after my fish and chickens. She clearly cares about the animals she watches and goes above and beyond to make sure they’re well looked after.”

“Allie was great. She sent me updates throughout the day and really made me feel comfortable being away from my two pups. I would definitely recommend her for any pet sitting needs! :)”
“Kate housesat for our pups so we could attend a last minute trip out of town. I love the updates and pictures. She even made them homemade treats! I know my pups are happy when we're home but they always look for her after she's left!”

“Holly was amazing!! We have a very stubborn dachshund who does not warm up to new people easily and barks a lot when meeting someone new. Leaving her for the first time for a lengthy international trip, I was pretty anxious, but holly made me feel completely relieved! She got our pup to warm up to her in no time and kept us updated with the cutest pics. She was also a very tidy house guest leaving our place cleaner than we left it. Would definitely book holly again and highly recommend her.”

“Great experience. Amanda is so nice and personable. My pugs took to her right away and were well taken care of. She was very communicative and sent pictures of our hooligans while we were away. Will definitely book again in the future.”

About: I am an uncle to many cats and dogs over the years. I have lived with pets all my life. Most recently, 2 years with a Shih Tzu, Sola, and have cared for her throughout our time together. I have watched over my friend’s pets for weeks on end and enjoy the time we spend together. I love seeing the bond between people and their furry friends! I have helped raised a surprise litter of puppies, trained them, and helped them find good homes! We still keep in contact with their new loving families! I am currently working from home on a part time schedule, so my schedule is pretty open and flexible. I can accommodate to most schedules and carry my work with me. Sola has two small homes she uses as her safety zone. A crate is for when she is feeling stressed and a fuzzy home for when she wants privacy. We have an understanding to not cross her boundaries and when she enters those spaces, we give her the privacy she requests. Understanding animals boundaries is important to me, for my safety, their wellbeing, and to maintain trust, especially if I’m a stranger to them.
“David and Beth did a great job looking after our pets while we were away. They were understanding and flexible when a few unexpected things came up, which really put us at ease. We appreciated their care and would be happy to have them look after our pets again in the future!”

“Marissa is an angel and the best dog sitter I have had to this date. I’m an anxious dog mom and she made me feel so comfortable caring for our 80 pound border collie mix. She sent constant photos and updates and he was happy in every one of them. Marissa will take outstanding care of your pet and you’ll be able to enjoy your trip stress free! 🤍”

“We felt comfortable immediately with Claudia staying at our home and watching our pups. She seemed to take such incredible care of them, that we felt safe to enjoy our trip. She sent regular pics and updates and the pups seemed so happy. Our dogs also needed medication and she had no problem administering it. She also took great care of our home and cleaned up. We are so glad we found Claudia and can't wait to book her again!”

“Anna was great! This was a long time for us to be away from our dogs so I was nervous but Anna made me feel comfortable every step of the way. She really took the time to get to know our dogs and went above and beyond. We will definitely reach out for future bookings! Thanks again Anna!”

About: I’ve cared for my own dogs my entire life and am comfortable with feeding, walks, potty breaks, playtime, and daily routines. I’m patient, attentive, and always make sure pets feel safe and cared for. I have a flexible schedule and can make time for drop-in visits and dog walks throughout the week. I’m happy to work around your pet’s normal routine and provide care when needed. I will always follow your instructions and your pet’s normal routine. I’ll make sure doors and gates are secure, keep a close eye on your pet, and treat your home and dog with care and respect.
About: As a lifetime animal lover, I have been taking care of other people’s pets for over two decades. I have experience with puppies and senior dogs, all breed sizes, and multiple pets at once. I feel comfortable administering medications and dealing with pets who have specific needs. I make my own hours at work so I am able to adjust according to bookings. I prefer weekends (fr-sun) but can do the week as well. I will make sure your pet is happy and safe at all times. Your pet’s wellbeing is my number one priority. I’m a bit of a pet whisperer and can handle more difficult or “not-well-trained” pets as well. I understand each pet is different and want to create the perfect environment for your pet when he’s/she’s not with you. I respect that each pet will need a different approach and I am well equipped to deal with whatever comes my way. All I want is for you and your pet to feel safe under my care.
About: I’ve been caring for cats since I was young, and they’ve always been a big part of my life. I currently have two adorable kittens (10 and 11 months old), and they bring so much joy to my home! I’d love the opportunity to help care for your furry family member in any way I can. As someone serving in the military, I’m highly reliable, organized, and able to stick to a schedule, ensuring your pet is always in great hands. I am experienced with cats, so your fur baby will get plenty of love and attention! I’m currently in the military during the weekdays, that’s what my schedule is Thursday through Sunday. That’s typically when I have more leeway to be able to ensure that your pets will have the best care. For my cats, they roam free around the house. I have an automatic litter box. Automatic food and automatic water and all the toys that they desire.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 1,886 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Santa Ysabel. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Santa Ysabel walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Santa Ysabel maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Santa Ysabel choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Santa Ysabel. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
