“I highly recommend Donna for any pet sitting needs. She was an amazing sitter and took wonderful care of our three dogs, guinea pig, and fish. Our dogs have become very attached to having someone home since my husband started working from home, so it was a huge relief to know they were happy and calm in Donna's care. Her calm demeanor and warm personality made our dogs very comfortable, and we appreciated the daily photos and messages she sent to keep us updated. We also returned to an immaculate house. Donna’s care truly made our vacation much better. Please do not hesitate to book her for your pet sitting needs.”
About: I’ve taken care of a variety of dogs for 10 years. I have lots of experience with large/giant dogs, senior dogs, and puppies. Previous dog owners have been satisfied with my dog walking, house sitting, bathing, and medicine administration. I love them like they are my own. Hours available for dog walking are dependent upon the day. I am available everyday for dog sitting and house watching. My work schedule is Thursday-Saturday and Tuesday. I am available every night for overnight dog sitting. I love to bring my work to dog sit, this way after your pup is tired out from playing or walking, we can relax together and they get some cuddles. I can easily crate your dog if needed. I live in a community with lots of paths to walk, as well as a beach to play at if allowed. When I let dogs out into the yard I make sure to keep a close eye on them (we don’t have any escape artists!).
“Maria was absolutely wonderful with our dog, Milli! She was incredibly attentive, patient, and tuned into Milli’s needs from the start. You could tell she genuinely cares about the dogs she walks—she took the time to make Milli comfortable, gave her plenty of exercise, and sent thoughtful updates after each walk. Milli adored her and would get so excited every time Maria arrived! It’s such a relief to know our pup was in such capable and caring hands. Highly recommend Maria to anyone looking for a reliable and loving dog walker!”

About: We’ve been loving dog parents for over 25 years, and caring for animals has always been a huge part of our lives. After losing our beloved boy earlier this year, we’ve found ourselves missing the daily joy, snuggles, and companionship that come with having a pet. We’d love to share that love with your furry family member—giving them all the attention, affection, and care they deserve. Think of us as your pet’s extra set of grandparents: all the love, cuddles, and spoiling, with a calm, caring presence you can trust. I’m currently working but am winding down a 30+ year career as an educator. I’m available weekends and over the summer right now. My husband is semi-retired and is available Tuesdays and Thursdays all day. One or both of us are also available after 3 pm Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. We have a fenced yard and sadly no pets for your baby to play with. We have no children in the house either so your dog will be the only guest and will receive our undivided attention. We will only sit for 1 family at a time to ensure you the highest quality care.

About: I’ve always had a love for animals and enjoy making pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their owners are away. I understand that every dog has a different personality and routine, so I take the time to follow each owner’s instructions closely. Whether your pet needs walks, playtime, feeding, cuddles, or just a calm companion, I’ll make sure they feel loved and cared for. I work from home, so pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine. Since I’m home often, your pet won’t be left alone for long periods of time, and I can help keep them on their normal schedule so they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. For house sitting, I’m also able to bring my work equipment with me, which allows me to stay with your pet while still working remotely and giving them consistent care and companionship. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I make it a priority to keep their routine and environment as normal and comfortable as possible. I carefully follow all instructions for feeding, walks, potty breaks, medications if needed, crate routines, and any house rules. I always make sure doors, gates, leashes, and fenced areas are secure, and I pay close attention during walks and playtime to keep pets safe. I’m respectful of every client’s home and will treat both your pet and your space with care. I’m also happy to send updates and photos so you feel comfortable while you’re away.

“Never having done this before, I was happily surprised to find a caring, friendly trustworthy stranger to take care of my animals. The photos he sent showed them being playful and content. He stayed in my house and he was very neat ( almost looked like I never left). I definitely will use Jaiden again in the future!”

About: Animal lover since the day I was born! I have a 5 year old cat named Lilly who is extremely friendly with other pets so I can bring pets to my house. I worked at New York’s Best Pets on Dyckman 200 Street before it burned down unfortunately and there I took care of feeding, grooming and playing with the pets as well as customer service. I’ve taken care of many dogs in the past, from walking to dog sitting. I have given prescribed medicine to dogs when they needed it and have trimmed their hair when asked to, as well as given them a full shower and a good groom. I live next to Raynor Beach Country Park and I love going out for walks and runs so you know your dogs will always have a good time and stay fit! I’ve been taking care of pets most of my life and I want to give pets the best experience they’ve ever had. I’m athletic so I have plenty of energy to burn. With me, I can guarantee your pets will have a great time and you’ll be satisfied with how they’ve been taken care of!
About: Hi I’m Jess! I have been an animal lover my whole life and saw Rover as a wonderful opportunity to meet some cute little friends and help make some extra money to help me out. Pets have always had a special place in my heart and I would love to meet some of yours! Many friends and family have trusted me to care for and love their pets when they need a little extra help. I am a very reliable and loving pet sitter with a pretty open schedule. I am currently working remotely so if you have reliable wifi I can work from your house while caring for your animals. I live in Babylon, but am open to helping out on most of the island if it’s a good fit. I am willing to travel to the city for longer/over night stays as well. Whether you need me for daily dog walks/ feedings, or want to take a nice vacation but need your animals and house looked after - I am your girl. Please let me know if you have any questions or special requests and I will do my best to help you out! So I am open to helping in any nearby neighborhoods. I grew up with many different animals and always treated them with love and affection. I will make sure they are walked on time, get some play/active time, and of course always have food and water. Anything that will make the client and the pet happy :)

About: As a trained ecologist and experienced animal caretaker, I bring professional-level attention and compassion to every pet I work with. My background includes hands-on care for mammals, reptiles, and marine animals, giving me a strong understanding of animal behavior and health. I spend much of my free time hiking and exploring the outdoors, so I’m especially attentive to active dogs who thrive on long walks and enrichment. I’m also a dedicated reptile owner, comfortable with specialized husbandry needs and detailed care routines. Whether your pet is energetic, shy, scaled, or furry, I provide patient, reliable care tailored to their individual personality. My field of work is seasonal. I am currently available full-time. During my work season, I typically work full-time and limit my services better accommodate my schedule. I will carefully follow any instructions left by their owner. As an owner of a pit bull with separation anxiety, I understand the stress some pets feel when their owners are away for extended periods of time, so I will do my best to follow any instructions left by owners to ensure their pets adhere to their daily schedule. I also STRONGLY believe in keeping dogs leashed at all times while on a walk.
About: Owned dogs since I was a child, Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Irish Red & White Setter and a Chihuahua. Experienced with golden doodles and labs. About: My passion for animals is a motivating force and that’s exactly what sets me apart from other sitters. I have a dog of my own, whom I’ve raised since she was a puppy, and I know how important a pet is— they really are family. I have thorough knowledge of puppy training, extensive knowledge in assisting animals with developing their leash manners, and experience caring for/walking large reactive dogs. Pet care is something that I’d like to transition my full-time work into. It is much more rewarding to me than my current position and I’d love to be able to do this full-time. I will care for the client’s pet(s) in the exact way the client would like. If they need me to walk their dog and then crate them, I can do that. It all comes down to what the owner(s) want and I am happy to oblige.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 4,103 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Saltaire. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Saltaire walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Saltaire maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Saltaire choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Saltaire. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
