“I recently used Tricia for the first time for two nights of pet sitting with my senior chihuahua, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience! She was incredibly professional, attentive, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. She took such amazing care of my dog and kept me updated the entire time with thoughtful messages and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind. It meant everything knowing Winnie was in such good hands. I will absolutely be using her services again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring pet sitter!”

“Elliot and Jackson are truly amazing dog sitters. They took the time to get to know our two mini schnauzers (one being a nervous rescue) prior to the visit. Communication was excellent during the pet sitting and I felt confident that my dogs were being well cared for. They even got some kisses from my rescue boy, which doesn’t happen often. I would highly recommend them.”

“Beth was very caring to Buddy and stayed in touch with me daily on how he was doing. She took good care of my house as well and communicated quickly. I’d book her services again :)”

“We had Kelly come dog sit in January for a week. She was amazing! Very comforting for us that my dog, Sophie, would be cared for in my home. Sophie is normally an anxious dog. While Kelly was with her, Sophie was completely fine. I really enjoyed the photos of Sophie that Kelly sent me during her stay. Kelly stayed overnight for Sophie, she was very respectful of my home and left it the way she found it. I would highly recommend Kelly for your pet needs!!!!”

“Lauren was wonderful with my little Jeter . This is the second time she has watched him . She was so attentive, caring and loving to my fur baby . I felt so at ease with Lauren . My little Jeter loved her . You’re your best Lauren . I’m So happy I found you , for my first baby Jeter . Looking forward to more visits . Thank you again ❤️”

“Maria rocks! She was super attentive and loving towards our dog Snoopy - and set us at ease with her thoughtful updates and photos each day. She also took great care of our apartment:) She's everything you'd want from a dog sitter - genuinely affectionate, responsible, and responsive. We highly recommend her!”

“Katlyn and her husband were wonderful with our two dogs! They watched our dogs at our house for 12 days while we were on vacation and took care of them like their own. One of my dogs was on medication, and they did a great job administering it. We came back to our house being neat and tidy. Would highly recommend!”

“I feel so comfortable working with Melanie and Anthony. They seem to know how to make the pup and the parent feel relaxed. My pup definitely seemed relaxed and happy. Great sitters!!”

“This was our first time leaving our dogs with a sitter and also the longest we had ever been away from them, so we were understandably a little nervous. Our dogs can be very anxious and reactive around new people, but by the end of her stay they absolutely loved Staci. Staci was incredibly attentive, thoughtful, and proactive throughout the entire time we were away. She kept a close eye on anything that seemed even slightly out of the ordinary and always kept us informed. We especially appreciated the many photos and updates she sent each day, which gave us tremendous peace of mind while we were traveling. It was clear that she genuinely cared about our dogs and their well-being. We came home to two happy, comfortable pups, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We would highly recommend Staci to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and attentive pet sitter.”

About: I have been a vet receptionist for the past year and I have a furry friend that has been with me for 13 long healthy years. I’ve taken care of dogs for friends and family since I was 15 and overall I can say it has been a great experience. I work two part time jobs and I’m looking to fill in the gaps in between my schedule and also work some hours on the weekend. I’m offering walks and drop ins in between the mornings and evenings. I love communicating with owners on how to take care of their pets the more I know the better care and experience your pet will have. I like sending updates and cute pictures of them just a heads up! I do require a quick meet and greet to discuss any behaviors or preferences I should be on the lookout for. Also I like to ensure it’s a great match if you have any questions or need special accommodations don’t hesitate to ask I’m open to some requests depending on my availability. Hope to meet you soon!
“Kimberly was so amazing while she watched my dog Rocky. She saw signs of anxiety, but went at his own pace and she’s really experienced. I felt really relieved, knowing that my dog was in good hands. Highly recommend.”

About: I follow instructions that are left for the pet, I interact with the pet alot and treat it as my own. I make sure it is given unconditional love and care that all animals deserve!! Part time in the afternoons or on the weekends with advanced notice. During the week after 5pm and on the weekends between 10am-9pm, unless it’s overnight then the hours are more flexible. I am in an enclosed apartment, that is spacious and has a patio for the pet to chill with fresh air. I also have a lot of areas to play around the complex that is friendly to four legged creatures, I live near numerous outdoor amenities including parks and beaches for the pet to explore. The entire neighborhood is very welcoming to pets and it could easily make a play date.
“Jess was wonderful with our golden retriever! She was prompt, efficient and communicative which eased any worry we had. I would definitely recommend Jess for any dog service you need!”

“Never having done this before, I was happily surprised to find a caring, friendly trustworthy stranger to take care of my animals. The photos he sent showed them being playful and content. He stayed in my house and he was very neat ( almost looked like I never left). I definitely will use Jaiden again in the future!”

“If you know me you know my dogs are my children. My husband and I have never had anyone in our home to watch our dogs before. We don't treat our dogs like 'dogs', they are part of our family so to us this was like having a babysitter for our children. Well, Rosie, was amazing! She came twice to visit and get to know my babies. During our weekend away she texted photos and sent updates. Gabe broke his favorite toy and she even went out and bought him a new one. Rosie truly loves animals and you can see her heart is truly in this 'job'. She will care for your pets as if they were her own. I whole heartily recommend Rosie to sit for your pets as she will for mine in the future.”

Kaileigh was incredible! She sent me photos and updates multiple times a day. My cat was comfortable with her and she left the house in perfect condition. She even put everything in the laundry before she left. I will definitely be having her watch my Binx in the future.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 4,471 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Great River. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Great River walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Great River maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Great River choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
