“Emma is very reliable and I always feel confident our dog is being well cared for. She is also very responsive and gives plenty of updates that let me know how he is doing!”

“Alexandra was truly amazing! She went completely above and beyond our expectations in caring for our two cats. Until now, we have always boarded our boys with our vet when we went on vacation, as we liked knowing they were completely cared for. But with Alexandra's detailed daily updates, quick communications, and genuine thoughtfulness, we never had a moment of worry while away. We will 1000% be booking with her again, and would absolutely recommend her. Thank you for taking such good care of our mischievous boys!”

“Erica took care of my dog Darla for two days and she is great! Darla is very happy with her, and she responds to my last minute questions very quickly when a false alarm arose ( I thought I booked the wrong service but it turned out to be all good). Thank you Erica!”

About: I have had dogs all my life, my parents would be at work most of the day so I would take my dogs for walks, feed them, and take care of them. I am committed to creating a nurturing and safe environment for every dog under my care, treating them as if they were my own. My goal is to provide peace of mind to pet owners by ensuring their furry friends receive the highest level of attention and love! I am a recent Graduate from George Mason University and currently have full availability! I am currently in Pennsylvania for the time being, and my schedule is completely open as of right now! I follow the pet's established routine as closely as possible, including feeding times, exercise schedules, and any special instructions provided by the owner. I spend quality time with each pet, ensuring they receive plenty of attention, affection, and playtime, reducing any anxiety they might feel in their owner's absence.
“Victoria was amazing with my 5 month old puppy, Luka. She walked him even when it was very hot outside but still made sure he got his exercise and outdoor time! She made sure to feed him and give him water, taking care of my pups wellbeing:) I will definitely be rebooking for future walks!!”

About: Hi! I'm Casey, and animals have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember! I grew up on a farm surrounded by animals, including eight dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, and goats. Caring for animals has always come naturally to me, and I've gained years of hands-on experience working with pets of all sizes, breeds, ages, and personalities. I also have experience caring for rescued animals, administering medications, and following specific feeding and care routines. I understand that every pet has its own personality and needs. Whether your dog enjoys long walks, playing outside, or simply relaxing and getting some extra attention, I'm happy to adjust my care to what makes them most comfortable. My goal is to maintain your pet's normal routine while making sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for. I currently work full-time remotely, which gives me excellent flexibility throughout the day. This allows me to accommodate different schedules and provide plenty of attention, exercise, and companionship. I'm available for dog walking, drop-in visits, and pet sitting, and I'm comfortable caring for multiple pets. I know how important it is to trust the person caring for your animals. I'll treat your pets with the same patience, attention, and love that I give my own. I'm also happy to provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident they're in good hands. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family members! I work remotely with a flexible schedule, which allows me to plan visits around your pet’s routine and give them the time and attention they need. I follow your pet’s normal routine and your instructions for feeding, walks, medications, and any special needs. I take time to build trust so your pet feels comfortable with me, and I’m careful about secure doors, gates, and leashes. When caring for pets in your home, I respect your space and keep you updated with photos and messages so you know how your pet is doing.
About: I’ve had dogs for over 15 years and have always been very hands on with their care. I raised my Yorkie and Dachshund from puppies and cared for them throughout their entire lives. I’ve also watched other dogs, including Corgis, Maltese, and Beagles, and I’m most comfortable with small to medium sized dogs. My two dogs recently passed away after long, happy lives, and I’m not quite ready to have another dog of my own yet. I have always been an animal lover and genuinely love being around animals. I honestly can’t imagine my life without having an animal around, so caring for other people’s pets feels like a wonderful way for me to still have that companionship while giving their families peace of mind. I’m especially comfortable with senior dogs because I cared for my own senior dog through lymphoma, heart disease, kidney disease, and seizures. I’m used to the extra attention, patience, and observation they may need, and I’m comfortable giving medications, injections, or medication with food when needed. Most of all, I truly enjoy caring for animals and getting to know their individual personalities and routines. I know how much pets mean to their families, so when I watch someone’s pet, I want them to feel safe, comfortable, loved, and at home, not like they are simply being boarded somewhere. I work from home three days a week, so I’m around the house most of the time. On the days I do go into work, my office is only about a 15 minute drive away and my schedule is flexible, so I can come home when needed. I’m happy to work around your pet’s normal routine and will do my best to keep the same feeding, potty, walking, and medication schedule they’re used to at home. I want your pet’s stay to feel as normal and comfortable as possible. Your dog will be welcomed into our family life and receive plenty of attention, affection, and supervision throughout their stay. My home is best suited for dogs who are comfortable around children and other dogs. We have a fully fenced backyard, and all outdoor time is supervised. This is especially important for smaller dogs. We also have a swimming pool. I understand that some owners may be nervous about a pool, especially if their dog has never been around one before. We moved here two years ago, and my own dogs (6 and 14 pounds) have never fallen into the pool. As a parent, I understand how quickly accidents can happen, so supervision is something I take very seriously. During the winter, the pool is closed and covered. During the warmer months when the pool is open, dogs are never left outside unsupervised. Dogs are free to relax in our living spaces and become part of our daily routine. I carefully supervise introductions between dogs, always feed dogs separately, and provide quiet spaces for rest when needed. Resource guarding around food is common, and I make mealtimes stress free by allowing each dog to eat separately without interruption. I usually host dogs from up to two families at a time, so there may be other friendly dogs staying with us during your dog's visit. Because of this, my home is a great fit for dogs who enjoy a social environment and being part of family activities. If your dog is shy, prefers their own space, or would be more comfortable without other guest dogs present, please feel free to ask about exclusive boarding. Depending on availability, I may be able to accommodate one-on-one stays at an adjusted rate. During holidays or busy periods, I may occasionally welcome additional families if all dogs are compatible and can be safely cared for. My focus is always on maintaining a safe and positive environment for every dog in my care.
About: I have been taking care of neighborhood and family dogs since I was 13 years old. I have done weekly walks, overnight stays, and check-ins. I volunteered weekly in a puppy training class for four years, so I am experienced in puppy behavior, safe play, and healthy training information. My family fostered dogs on and off for about a year, and even though I am the youngest, I have always been the primary pet caretaker. As a full-time college student, I'll be fully available starting in mid-May through mid-August. I hope to have dogs be a part of my everyday, so I will be available whenever possible. In jobs I've had, I spend hours at the client's house giving quality time and care to the dog(s). I give long walks, long cuddles, and I'm sure to meet each individual dog's needs (i.e. anxious, playful, mischievous). Apart from drop-ins and stays, hypoallergenic dogs are also welcome to stay at my house where they will receive the same care plus extra love from my family. I am always 100% focused on the dog while with them and avoid distractions. Really, I just want the dogs to feel loved and the clients to feel that their dog is in good hands.
About: I’ve been pet sitting since I was a young teen (around 15 years experience) and have cared for a wide range of animals, including cats, dogs, and small pets like rats, bunnies, hamsters, etc. I have also volunteered at rescues providing animal care, enrichment, and socialization. I have experience with senior pets, sick and medically complex animals, and hospice care for cats and dogs. I’m comfortable supporting pets with special needs, including disabled dogs and cats, and I approach every animal with patience, attentiveness, and compassion. I have two happy cats of my own! My goal is always to provide calm, reliable care so animal friends feel safe and loved while their owners are away. I work about 20–30 hours a week as a counselor, but I have a flexible schedule where I set my own hours. This allows me to build pet care into my daily and weekly routine with ease. I’m available for morning, midday, and evening visits, and I’m able to adjust my schedule to meet the needs of pets and their owners. I prioritize consistency and reliability so pets get care when they need it most. In a client’s home, I focus on making pets feel safe, loved, and comfortable while their owners are away. I prioritize care, play, and one-on-one attention, and I take time to understand each pet’s unique needs, routines, and favorite activities. I aim to keep things as familiar and stress-free as possible by sticking closely to their normal schedule and incorporating the things they enjoy most.
“Roxanne is the absolute best with caring for Lola. She is a great communicator and our minds are always at ease when she is dropping in and house sitting for us.”

About: I grew up in a household that always had at least one pet; everything from turtles, birds, hamsters, to 2 cats and 4 dogs. I've always loved animals and would love to meet your pet too! Since I live in an apartment that doesn't allow for pets, I'm hoping meeting and caring for your pets will bring me the same joy I have when I'm at home! I took care of two elderly dogs for the last two years - one who required full time attention including administering medicine. My schedule is super flexible! Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Saint Davids
Kanassanan was absolutely amazing! She went above and beyond to make sure my cat was well taken care of while I was away. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing my cat was in such good hands. I truly appreciate her care and dedication. I would definitely book with her again and highly recommend her!

My cats were very happy to have Jennifer caring for them while I was away! They both have special routines (medications, special diets) and Jen was able to get into a good routine with them. They were happy and relaxed when I got home! Thank you so much Jennifer!

This was my first time using rover and I could not have had a better experience with Alexandra. She went above and beyond taking care of my cats Jules and Fiji. Any nerves I had about leaving my cats with special feeding instructions and medical needs were put to rest by Alexandra. She is a true life saver and you can tell how much she enjoys getting to know your pets and makes every effort to address their needs! Alexandra will be my first choice should I need help checking in on the kitties in the future!

Emma was wonderful with Benny while we were away. She was very reliable, kept me updated every day, and paid close attention to his food, water, and overall behavior. I really appreciated how thoughtful and communicative she was, especially since Benny can be a little cautious with new people. It gave me peace of mind knowing she was checking on him every day. I would definitely recommend Emma and would be happy to book with her again!

Stephen was a great sitter for my 2 cats! One needed medicine, and she took it from. him like a champ. The other is usually afraid of sitters, but he befriended Stephen right away! I know this because Stephen sent me photos and/or videos for every visit. He was very responsive and friendly, with a great sense of humor. Thank you Stephen!

Aaren is so very attentive, reliable, and sweet towards pets! I was so relieved to have her looking and attending to my gerbils while away in Europe for a week and a half. She is great with communication and truly a wonderful caregiver, going above and beyond!

Julie did a wonderful job taking care of my cats while I was gone, providing plenty of pictures for me and engagement for them. She was also willing to work with me to get through my building's byzantine security system, which I appreciated. She made my first extended trip away from my cats a stress free experience.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
