“Elizabeth was WONDERFUL. Elizabeth is kind & sweet and I know she gave loving care to Billy. Elizabeth sent us pictures everyday with updates as to how the day went. Which was always a good day with Billy. Elizabeth is responsible caring not only for our dog Billy but also our home. Highly recommend Elizabeth, oh, our house was cleaner when we came home than when we left.”

“Amari always exceeds expectations! She is so responsive, caring and responsible with both my beloved dog and home. I am able to travel without a single worry or concern knowing Amari is here. I'd give a ten-star rating if it was an option! Thanks again Amari!”

About: I’ve had dogs and cats all of my life and started professionally pet sitting about 10 years ago when I retired. I have a fenced yard and can also walk your dogs throughout in my neighborhood if it’s under 50 lbs (for safety reasons). I’m 75 and am home during the day to cuddle your furry babies! Most days, I’ll go out to run errands or go to the gym. I like to take a walk in the morning by myself around my neighborhood. I’m at home the rest of the day usually unless I have an appointment. I have a fenced backyard and a screened in porch. I don’t require a crate for your dog or cat as long as they are potty trained.
“5/5 – Absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish! 🌟 Molly was an absolute gem as our cat and house sitter. From the moment we met for the meet & greet, she came across as so professional, thoughtful, and genuinely caring — she instantly put our minds at ease. She asked all the right questions, took detailed notes, and made us feel completely confident leaving our home and our shy boy, Black Fury, in her hands. During the sit, she went above and beyond in every way. Black Fury (who normally hides from anyone new for days) warmed up to her beautifully — I still can’t quite believe it! We received lovely regular updates with little stories about their day, which meant the world to us while we were away. Our home was looked after with such care, everything was spotless, and it honestly felt like Molly was just another member of the household. We are so grateful to have found someone so trustworthy, kind, and capable. It was truly a pleasure having her in our home, and we would welcome her back with open arms in a heartbeat. We’re already looking forward to booking her again next time we travel! Thank you so much, Molly — you’re the best! 🐾🏡”

“Magdalena was a blessing at the last minute for house sitting with our 2 year old GSD. He absolutely loved her and was sure to keep us posted during the weekend of what he was doing. Thank you so much for taking care of our boy!!!”

About: Hi! My name is Lindsey and I currently live in Lancaster, PAl. I have always loved dogs and have had one since I was 11 including a husky, black lab, and great pyrenees. I currently have a black lab/german shepherd mix back home in baltimore that I miss very much and would love to be able to help others out with their dogs. Aside from having my own dogs, I also have experience watching and walking dogs of all ages and sizes. I am used to owning and watching dogs with all levels of energy so I am adaptable to the dog's needs. I do go to school full time for nursing so I have a set schedule I will be able to work around.
“Bianca is a true gem! We all love her, ( my 3 dachshunds )especially Guinness who wanted all her attention. Bianca is the most compassionate level headed dog sitter. She was outstanding with my 16 year old Marjie. And handled baby Bella who needs time to warm up. She’s A natural pro. No worries with Bianca taking care of your babies.”
“Megan took great care of my fur babies and my home during my vacation. She answered my texts promptly and she even sent me cute pictures of my pets. I felt comfortable leaving my pets and my home in her care after meeting with her. It was my first time using Rover and she was beyond helpful. I would recommend Megan and I will be using her services again in the near future. It was nice to be able to enjoy my vacation knowing someone trustworthy was taking good care of my pets.”

“RUN, don’t walk - to hire Tayler for all of your pet’s needs. I’ve had my fair share of lackluster dog sitters (even from this app, unfortunately) and Tayler goes above and beyond on every front. It started with the meet and greet - I have two anxious beagle girls who get a bit stressed with new people in the house. The moment she walked in, they were at ease, barely made a fuss and were asking for belly rubs within a few minutes (lol I swear pets can sense great energy.) Tayler stayed at our place for a few days while we were away and kept us very updated with walks, happy photos and with any questions she had about our place. She’s kind, nurturing and is exactly the person I needed to find for me to feel *amazing* about leaving them with someone. I just know her calendar is going to fill up quickly - so don’t hesitate to book her ASAP 👏”

About: I have a soft spot for all animals and treat all pets as if they were my own. As I grew up around many types of animals since I was a kid, I know how much they mean to us. I make sure they are taken care of and loved! I have full time availability currently. I am usually up around 5/6am so I am happy to do early mornings. I am up for late night drop ins as well if needed. I do not have a yard but I love to take the dogs to parks and walk around. If they are potty trained, I am more than happy to keep them in my house.
“Taylor is the best dog sitter we have ever had. She is very responsible and takes great care of our 3 pups as well as maintaining the house while we are gone! I would highly recommend her to anyone who needs a dog sitter for their babies❤️”

About: I bring years of firsthand experience from raising and caring for my own dogs and cats, as well as pet sitting for my neighborhood. I know how important it is to keep dogs active and safe while respecting a cat's unique boundaries. From walks and precise feeding schedules to keeping everything clean, I will treat your pets with the highest level of care. I work part-time at a local summer school club, which gives me a very stable, predictable schedule. Because my hours are part-time, I have plenty of open availability during the week and open availability on weekends to dedicate entirely to walking, playing with, and loving on your sweet pets! As an owner of both dogs and cats, pet safety is my absolute top priority. Whether I am visiting your home or caring for your pet, I make sure the environment is secure, clean, and completely hazard-free. I strictly follow all of your specific feeding, crate, and leash rules to ensure your fur baby is completely safe and comfortable.
“Kelly did a wonderful job staying with our dog while we were away for almost 2 weeks. She consistently sent photos and updates. We arrived home to a clean house and a happy pup. I wouldn't hesitate to book her again. :-)”

About: Hey there, you can call me Bee! :) I've had a mix of animals my whole life, from goats and chickens and cats and dogs in my childhood, to my own small zoo today! I have three cats and a dog at home, and as a result I have experience handling multiple animal personalities and making sure they all feel safe and comfortable during transitions, such as going to the vet, meeting a new friend, etc. I love to walk and enjoy taking my dog along so she can really soak up the sun and burn off energy. My day job goes until approximately 1:30/2pm every day, so I'm completely free in the afternoons and evenings! I am usually free to help out weekends, as well! I ensure that my home is a clean environment safe for pets at ALL times. This means no human food left unsupervised, no toxic plants, and no access to chemicals/medications/other no-nos. I also enjoy catering to pets' needs, whether that is hyper playtime or serene strolls!
“Adrienne was awesome! She went above and beyond to hang out with my pups and keep me constantly updated with pictures and videos so I could enjoy my vacation instead of worrying about my pups. Will definitely contact her again when I head out of town. Thanks for everything ?”

About: I’ve had pets since a child, both cats and dogs. I’m a middle school math teacher, mother of 4 and grandmother of 5. Our family pets have passed in the past year and I am looking to pour my “pet love” into helping to care for other people’s fur babies! I’m currently a middle school teacher so I am available after 3 on weekdays, but I am fully available on weekends. Outside of teaching I prefer to dedicate my time to exercise, so what better way to do it than with a dog by my side! I am very good at working with whatever is best for your pets so if they need to be crated or have special instructions, I can certainly accommodate!
The median cost per night for house sitting in Saint Augustine is $50
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Saint Augustine
Bella was AWESOME!!! Highly recommend!!! My wife and I were nervours at first because this was the first time using Rover and finding someone we did not know to watch our fur babies. She agreed to come and meet us and our furbabies prior to the actual date. Our dogs (dogs are the best judges of character) loved her from the moment she entered the house. Bella was in constant communication with us, sending text messages and pictures. She is a sweet and kind person. Very responsible. I would definitely use her again in the future.
Katie is totally awesome and I would give her a 10 if allowed! Our fur baby loves her. She exercises her with walks, plays with her in the back yard and even chases her around the counter/hallway. She leaves Coco happy to have her here - so much so that Coco will look around the house after she has left hoping for her play pal. Cannot say enough good things about Katie. You will not go wrong to hire her to watch your pet and home.
Linda was an amazing dog sitter for our cocker spaniel. She was willing to stay in our home for a long weekend and keep our elder dogs routine. Surprising she coaxed our dog to visit the beach and take a surf side walk. When we returned our happy dog met us at the door and was full of stories as well as dogs can communicate. Linda was trustworthy and respectful in our home. We highly recommend Linda Kane.
Carly was fantastic! While I was away, she kept my very active pup busy with walks, fetch, and romping with her sweet and energetic dog Moose. Her communication before and during her stay were great. She is dependable and responsible and I would absolutely recommend her if you need a dog sitter.

Hailey did a great job taking care of our pets and the house. She contacted us daily and let us know how everyone was doing. She was on time, reliable, and responded quickly if we contacted her. All of the pets were in great shape and seemed to be very chilled out upon our arrival back. We are hoping she can pet/house sit for us again soon.

Always so grateful for Rhiannon taking care of our two babies. She is always so good and keeps us posted on how they are doing! I cannot recommend her enough. We have a special needs Bassett hound and she is very very good with her and we couldn’t be more grateful!

Prepare yourself for a long one. We needed a pet sitter as we were heading out on an 18 day European cruise and taking our family … so canceling was not an option. We came across Miranda on Rover and truly immediately liked her ! Well, were we ever correct !!! she is definitely “One of a Kind “ she isn’t just your pets pet sitter She is their guardian angel, their advocate, their surrogate mother, and as my husband likes to call her, “the pet whisperer”. What started out as a regular pet sitting job turned into so much more. Three weeks before we left on our trip one of our dogs ended up with a pretty serious liver issue. We made trips between Saint Augustine and U of F small animal hospital and thought we had this under control. However just after we left on our trip Valentina took a turn for the worst, thank God we had Miranda !! Miranda continued the trips to U of F and our local Vet for the remaining days of our trip. When I say she was our dogs advocate, I mean it. She took on the enormous task of conversing with doctors and the nurses when we couldn’t be reached. She syringe fed and hand fed our dog as well as medicated her several times a day while constantly sending us videos and pictures and reassuring us that Valentina was doing well … and she was ! by the end of our trip Valentina was eating on her own again ! We will never trust anyone but Miranda to watch our dogs !!!!! When I tell you, she’s the best … and she has the biggest heart for animals it’s the absolute truth. When Shes in charge, you can relax and be assured your pets are in the best possible care while you’re away ! Not only is she our pets guardian angel she’s a big part of our family now .

FAQs for House Sitting - Saint Augustine
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Saint Augustine on Rover is $47.18 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,048 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Saint Augustine. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Saint Augustine walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Saint Augustine maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Saint Augustine choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Saint Augustine. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
