About: With years of hands-on pet care experience, I provide compassionate, reliable, and personalized care for every animal. I treat each furry friend like family, ensuring they feel safe, loved, and happy while in my care. I also have experience with special needs and senior animals so I’m comfortable giving meds if needed. I’m currently working a part-time job and I'm a part time college student. My schedule may vary each week. I usually work Wednesday-Sunday starting at 5pm. Sometimes I work the morning shift. I’m not available on weekends because I work. When introducing myself to a new animal I like to start out quite and get on there level to make them feel more comfortable. I treat every pet like family and make sure they feel happy and safe by respecting their spaces, personality, and unique needs.
“Mia took such good care of our pets, that when we came home we could tell! They weren’t overly needy, a good sign of excessive cuddling with Mia! She also left our place more clean than how we left it. We are so impressed with her.”

About: I've been around dogs my entire life, both big and small! I've helped take care of my family dogs since I was 7, and been working with dogs beyond my family for 2 years. I have experience working with puppies, senior dogs, and dogs with disabilities. Your pup will never be wanting for affection! I'm working full-time during the week, so I am available for house sitting on weekends. I am available for dog walking and play dates during the weekday evenings and weekends. I can provide your fur baby with the bathing, brushing, medicating, exploring, and loving that they need to thrive. I have a small, friendly pup of my own who can play with your dog, and a car that can take them to the dog park if desired. Otherwise, I'm more than happy to provide them every comfort of their own home.
About: I have taken care of dogs as large as an Italian Mastiff and as small as mini schnauzers. I am comfortable and confident with handling dogs of all temperaments. I currently go to college full time. I only have classes in the mornings, so my days are pretty open to spend time with dogs or take them on walks. I currently have 4 mini schnauzers at home and provide them with a safe and loving environment. I would bring that same care for your beloved pet.
About: I grew up with a wide variety of pets my whole life: dogs, ducks, chickens, and even a hedgehog! My love for dogs in particular is strong and rooted in my families history of owning them since I was a baby! We have dogs from all ages in our house- from senior dogs to just puppies, I am comfortable caring for any age and any breed! I work from home with very flexible hours so I am able to care for my pets diligently everyday without worry of potentially conflicting scheduling. My care typically involves feeding them, grooming them if needed, giving them their medication if necessary, play time whether that involves going on walks/runs, enrichment time, or practicing basic commands.
“Anna was a phenomenal sitter and took excellent care of my four senior dogs. She was kind and attentive, sending periodic updates while I was away. I will be using her services again in the future, and I highly recommend her to others for house/dog sitting.”

About: Since the young age of 10 I was caring for pets all around my neighborhood. I've always adored animals and have two dogs of my own, one calm and one who requires lots of exercise, so I've got a wide range of pups in used to! I'm a reliable dog walker, willing to play, bathe, love and actually care about your pets the way you do. Im working part time right now which means i've got ample time to play with your pets! Im free almost any day of the week for boarding and walking up until August 10th in the evenings! Im willing to accommodate any living situation, no fence? No problem! I've got a leash and two legs. My pups get into everything if left alone so I'll be sure to always be present for anything your animal needs, and any extra support they may need.
About: Hello! My name is Griffin, I'm 21 years old and I absolutely love to work with animals! I have had dogs and cats in my home my whole life and I have two years of prior experience working in an environment that supported boarding, daycare, training, and even rescue work with pregnant strays and puppies! Shortly after I started working with dogs I realized that not only did I love being with them all the time, but I really loved training and watching each dog progress. In March of 2026 I attended my first training conference. After seeing so many aspects of that side of the dog world I decided to pause working at the facility I was at and began dog training school online at Karen Pryor Academy. I am still continuing to learn more through schooling, but after a few months I was ready to put my learning to use and began on Rover! During my time at the conference I was able to learn more about Pets for Vets and speak with them throughout the weekend. The work they do is so heartwarming and I couldn't help but want to be a part of their service animal training eventually! I love to work with all ages and breeds of dogs! During my time at the boarding facility I handled a wide variety of breeds and I always look forward to meeting new ones! Recently I have been working on training with three puppies and it has been amazing watching their progress. Working with animals has been such an important part of my life and I couldn't imagine it any other way! If you think I might be a good fit for your pet please don't hesitate to reach out! I look forward to meeting you and your furry family! -Griffin Working at a boarding and rescue facility I work with dogs daily and for hours at a time. I own one dog as well that I work with around the house daily! I am able to do walks, feeding, bathing, nail trims, play, and continue any training that your dog may currently be working on! I am also open to working with anxious or less confident dogs as well as handling more than one dog at a time!

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Rochester
Griffin was exceptional! This was our first time using Rover.com and he completely exceeded our expectations. Our two Bernese Mountain Dogs loved him and were comfortable with him right out of the gate! We had total peace of mind that our little gang was well taken care of while we were gone! Thank you again Griffin!
Mia is the best! She watched our dogs and our home while we were out of town for the week and we felt so comfortable knowing they were in good hands. They were happy and calm when we came home. She sent updates and pictures which we loved, and left the house cleaner than we did! We would love to have her watch them again in the future!

This was our second time working with Katelyn and we're always so grateful for the care she provides to our dogs and cats. She was patient about working with our skittish puppy and making sure everyone got what they needed while we were away. We always appreciate the updates, photos, and reliable communication. Highly recommend!

Andrea was an amazing host. This was our first time using Rover and we were pretty nervous having an anxious dog but Andrea did great. She sent lots of pictures and was very attentive to our dog. She also did an awesome job watching after our cat as well. Overall, I could not recommend Andrea enough. Especially to those who are new to Rover and might be a little nervous about the experience. I hope we get to book with Andrea again!!

Angela is truly amazing! She went above and beyond with caring for our cat and dog. She anticipated their needs/wants and was very intentional about spending time with them. Her attention to detail is also incredible. She really took the time to get to know and understand our pets and provided care tailored to them specifically! She is also a great communicator and sent daily updates/photos.

Grace was wonderful. She stayed overnight with our dog for 5 nights while we were on vacation. She did an amazing job, took her on lots of walks, kept us updated, and had the house cleaner than when we left it. I would highly recommend her to any pet parent. We didn’t have to worry at all while we were away, which to us is priceless. Thank you, Grace!

Anna is such a gem! We are so lucky to have found her. My 3 dogs and cats were happy! You could see the happiness and content in all the pics she sent while we were away. If you book Anna you will be as lucky as us! And your pets will thank you too! She is a keeper for sure!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Rochester on Rover is $38.85 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 180 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Rochester. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rochester walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rochester maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rochester choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
