“My 8 year old, Curly Coated Retriever, had never been boarded before. Kyle made me so comfortable at our initial meet & greet that it reduced my trepidation of being away from my girl for the first time & I knew she was in good hands. Kyle’s daily pictures & comments made being away from my girl so much easier. It was very clear seeing how much Kyle loved dogs and she was such a good caregiver to my girl. I would strongly recommend Kyle’s service to anybody who wants to ensure their dog is in the hands of someone who truly cares about her furry friends.”

“Lydia was amazing! She sent me tons of great pictures and I was never worried that my dog was being well taken care of. I would definitely recommend Lydia to anyone and I certainly hope to book with her again the next time I need a dog sitter. Thanks again, Lydia!”
“Sylva and Mark are some of the most kind and genuine people. We were very fortunate to have been able to leave our sweet girl with them for almost a week. She was very well cared for and loved on. We got pictures everyday which we loved. It was a huge relief to go on a trip and know that our dog was in good hands. Couldn’t recommend them enough. Thanks again!!”

“Cong was amazing!! We had to leave town with one day's notice for a death in the family, and were frantic with worry about who would take care of our boys for us. Cong came through in a *big* way. She let us drop our boys off at 3am, on our way to the airport! We got frequent and regular updates from her, most with photos, and knowing that our boys were getting love and care removed a giant source of worry from us at a difficult time. Cong's doggie is a sweetheart, and she had fun playing our boys. I will 100% be contacting Cong in the future to keep our boys safe and happy! Thank you!!”
“Catherine and her family are so sweet and accommodating. I got updates throughout the stay and my pup was so well taken care of and loved. I was almost convinced my dog wouldn’t want to come home with me after all the love and attention they gave her!! Thank you so much!”
About: I’ve taken care of many pets in my life as I used to live on a farm growing up. I treat them all as if they’re my kids. I have a part time job as a nurse at a nursing home and I have two children in the home but over the ages of 15, other than that I have no young kids or other pets. I have a fenced yard with plenty of room to play! As well I have a park 2 mins from my home that I can take any pet I’m caring for.
“Lori was an absolutely perfect sitter for our pup, Piper. She was very responsive to any contact and very accommodating. Her place is a wonderful environment for dogs and she has a genuine affection for them which shows through when you meet her. Piper was clean and happy when we picked her up. If we head out of town again, Lori is definitely our go-to sitter!”

“Alyson was wonderful! She was very patient with my dogs, even when they got nervous and peed on her floor. They quickly warmed up to her and her dog, and from the photos she sent, it was obvious they were having a great time. I will definitely rebook with Alyson.”

“Jarvis loved staying with Kierra and her family. He was well cared for and Kierra sent many photos of Jarvis playing with her dog Atlie. I highly recommend her, and Jarvis looks forward to staying with them again!”

“Emer and Jason took great care of Lucy. They took the time to get to know her, and she got along well with their pups. I could tell Lucy felt very comfortable with them, which put me at ease. Lucy had a very good visit and came home happy and healthy! A win-win.”

“Chelsea watched our 5-year-old Australian Labradoodle over a four-day cold and snowy February weekend. The care for him in her home was excellent -- lots of love and time spent playing in the back yard. She sent us regular updates and photos so we knew he was happy and being well cared for. She was very professional and easy to work with and we will definitely reach out to her for our dog's care again!”

“We would not hesitate to use Jennifer again. She was very attentive and conscientious to our requests in caring for our senior dog, including medications. She was very loving and kind and made our dog feel very much at home. Jennifer was very communicative and responsive before and during Jessie’s stay. We appreciated knowing that all was well while we were away.”

“Kit was very happy at Taylor's! Taylor did a great job of communicating and sending pictures. She was also flexible when I asked for Kit to stay an extra day. I would definitely use her again.”

“Darcy was fantastic with my dog, Blaze! Her own dog is so sweet and Blaze had a wonderful time. I got updates and pictures throughout his stay. We will definitely be using Darcy as a sitter again!”

Kim was absolutely amazing with Otis! She kept me updated throughout his stay, which gave me such peace of mind knowing he was happy and well taken care of. I felt completely comfortable leaving him with her, and it was clear he was in great hands. I would absolutely recommend Kim and will definitely be using her again in the future! 🐾❤️

She took great care of Dino during his stay and sent daily pictures and updates, which I really appreciated. He looked happy, comfortable, and like he was enjoying himself the whole time. I felt reassured knowing he was being well cared for and would definitely recommend her to someone looking for attentive in-home boarding.

Cache was great! I booked her last minute and she was able to immediately accommodate a meet and greet with Josie and I. She was comfortable and confident with Josie in the meet and greet and asked me clarifying questions and told me her process. Throughout the stay she sent me regular updates and photos/videos of my girl. Josie doesn’t like rain and had trouble going potty one morning and Cache kept me updated and was persistent with her. I will definitely be booking her again!!!

Kevin was amazing with our little senior dog, Roxy! We are so thankful we found him as we felt very reassured leaving her in his care. He is attentive and reliable, and we could tell that Roxy felt right at home with him! She occasionally can be anxious around new people, but that was clearly not the case with Kevin. Will definitely re-book with him in the future!

10/10 recommend Vera! She went above and beyond making sure us and our pup were well cared for. She sent us regular updates, videos, and pictures. She gave Pierce a lavender calming collar to put him at ease on the first night. She even noticed that the mat underneath our dog bowls was frayed and coming undone and sewed it up for us. I was blown away by her kindness and palpable love of animals. Don’t hesitate to book Vera. You won’t regret it.

I was able to find Albert last minute, and I'm so glad I did! He's a total pro, and I knew my dog was in great hands within a few minutes of meeting him. He took excellent care of my dog, and even took the initiative to work with her on some behavioral issues while I was away. I'll definitely be booking with him again!!

Anna took care of our 2 senior boxes for 2 days while we were on vacation. Normally we leave them with trusted family members while we travel, but our daughter had plans and could not keep them in her care. Anna is the first pet sitter outside family who has kept them in her home. She cared for them as if they were her very own. They settled in easily and got along famously with Anna's fur babies. I highly recommend Anna to anyone needing to board their pet outside their home.

This was our boxer Peanut’s second time staying with Shantalee and it was again wonderful. She is attentive, sends tons of photos and drops in with notes just to let you know your pup is doing okay. She lives in a great apartment in an easy area to get to, not congested for good walks with dogs, only 5 minutes off the interstate. We drive out of our way (over an hour) when visiting family in the area just to make sure Peanut gets time with Shantalee!!
John was amazing! Super responsive, even to a last-minute/ day-of booking! He took wonderful care of our lil Roxy, and sent lots of updates and photos throughout the days, which we so appreciated :) She’s 15 years old and can sometimes be a little skiddish, but she took right to him and he made her feel right at home. He’s a great dog sitter and was very kind and caring, will definitely be booking with him again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
