“Jialin and John watched my new senior rescue Bianca for a long weekend and were so good to her! I was a little nervous since I had her less than a month and was still figuring out her unique behaviors and preferences but she was in great hands. We did a meet and greet beforehand and Boo-boo was a great host, sharing his home and parents. Jialin even taught Bianca a new trick that we have been working on back home. Bianca was sent home with a plastic baggie of some treats she liked to keep the good times going back home. I look forward to the next time Bianca can stay with them!”

“Kaitlyn was great with Hadley! She sent photo updates and booked very last minute which we are incredibly appreciative of. Her kids also adored Hadley so she felt right at home. Highly recommend!”

“Lydia was very easy to work with especially since my travel plans changed and my return was delayed by a few days. She loved on my dog like she was her own. I will use her again when the time comes.”

“Catherine and her family took great care of my dog Riley for two weeks while I was on vacation. Riley stayed at her home, and she got a lot of exercise, socialization and love while she was there. Catherine sent pictures, sweet notes and funny observations almost every day. I will definitely request Catherine in the future when we need a pet sitter.”

I work full time but I have a hybrid schedule where I can be home all day. I can also stop in for visits as needed. I have a fenced in yard and will always be with your dog in the yard. We can go for great walks around the SUNY Albany campus. I currently have 2 cats that are very kind and curious.

“I highly recommend booking with Cong! She sent so many pictures and videos while my dog, Koda, was staying with her. I hate leaving Koda with people other than family but Cong made me feel comfortable and she communicated constantly throughout Koda’s stay. It was nice to know that Koda was enjoying her time and playing with other dogs! She came home very tired - and a tired dog is a happy dog!!”

“Last minute urgent booking with Lori. She is very reliable, responsible, and an amazing person. She took care of my dog as of her own. I am extremely satisfied and highly recommend.”

About: I’ve taken care of many pets in my life as I used to live on a farm growing up. I treat them all as if they’re my kids. I have a part time job as a nurse at a nursing home and I have two children in the home but over the ages of 15, other than that I have no young kids or other pets. I have a fenced yard with plenty of room to play! As well I have a park 2 mins from my home that I can take any pet I’m caring for.

“Alyson was wonderful! She was very patient with my dogs, even when they got nervous and peed on her floor. They quickly warmed up to her and her dog, and from the photos she sent, it was obvious they were having a great time. I will definitely rebook with Alyson.”

“Larry took excellent care of our dog while we were away for the weekend. He was extremely professional and made sure to ask questions to ensure our dog was as comfortable as possible. We received updates during our time away on how our little guy was doing. We were extremely satisfied with our experience and will definitely keep Larry in mind for our next trip!”

“Kierra took great care of Cooper, he was very happy him and Atlie. He definitely made a new pup buddy. Kierra took Cooper for daily walks which he loves to go for walks. I would definitely use Kierra to watch Cooper again on the future.”

“I am blessed to have found Jennifer. She was quick to respond and provided picture and message updates while I was gone. Gus loves her already and I know that he would be comfortable with Jennifer again if the need arises. I would highly recommend her to others.”

“Chelsea was fantastic! I had to make a last-minute booking, and I’m so glad I chose Chelsea. I never had to worry about Zula’s well-being because she often sends adorable update photos. She had a blast playing with other dogs and getting her energy out. She looked so comfortable and at home; she had a wonderful time. At pick-up, we also received a report card overviewing Zula’s stay. I highly recommend Chelsea!”

“Taylor did a great job watching Zeus! She was able to do a meet and greet beforehand, which made everything really easy. Her dog Spunky is also great and got along really well with Zeus. Everything went smoothly, and I would definitely recommend Taylor and book with her again!”

“Chris and Chelsea were awesome! Philip has a lot of energy (or at least he did when I dropped him off!) and they matched it! We all appreciate the enrichment that they provided Philip while we were out of town as well as the pictures and videos that put my mind at ease, especially as it was our first time leaving him with someone else overnight. All in all we had a fantastic experience and are all looking forward to next time!”
“Darcy was fantastic with my dog, Blaze! Her own dog is so sweet and Blaze had a wonderful time. I got updates and pictures throughout his stay. We will definitely be using Darcy as a sitter again!”

Kim was absolutely amazing with Otis! She kept me updated throughout his stay, which gave me such peace of mind knowing he was happy and well taken care of. I felt completely comfortable leaving him with her, and it was clear he was in great hands. I would absolutely recommend Kim and will definitely be using her again in the future! 🐾❤️

She took great care of Dino during his stay and sent daily pictures and updates, which I really appreciated. He looked happy, comfortable, and like he was enjoying himself the whole time. I felt reassured knowing he was being well cared for and would definitely recommend her to someone looking for attentive in-home boarding.

Cache was great! I booked her last minute and she was able to immediately accommodate a meet and greet with Josie and I. She was comfortable and confident with Josie in the meet and greet and asked me clarifying questions and told me her process. Throughout the stay she sent me regular updates and photos/videos of my girl. Josie doesn’t like rain and had trouble going potty one morning and Cache kept me updated and was persistent with her. I will definitely be booking her again!!!

Kevin was amazing with our little senior dog, Roxy! We are so thankful we found him as we felt very reassured leaving her in his care. He is attentive and reliable, and we could tell that Roxy felt right at home with him! She occasionally can be anxious around new people, but that was clearly not the case with Kevin. Will definitely re-book with him in the future!

10/10 recommend Vera! She went above and beyond making sure us and our pup were well cared for. She sent us regular updates, videos, and pictures. She gave Pierce a lavender calming collar to put him at ease on the first night. She even noticed that the mat underneath our dog bowls was frayed and coming undone and sewed it up for us. I was blown away by her kindness and palpable love of animals. Don’t hesitate to book Vera. You won’t regret it.

I was able to find Albert last minute, and I'm so glad I did! He's a total pro, and I knew my dog was in great hands within a few minutes of meeting him. He took excellent care of my dog, and even took the initiative to work with her on some behavioral issues while I was away. I'll definitely be booking with him again!!

Anna took care of our 2 senior boxes for 2 days while we were on vacation. Normally we leave them with trusted family members while we travel, but our daughter had plans and could not keep them in her care. Anna is the first pet sitter outside family who has kept them in her home. She cared for them as if they were her very own. They settled in easily and got along famously with Anna's fur babies. I highly recommend Anna to anyone needing to board their pet outside their home.

This was our boxer Peanut’s second time staying with Shantalee and it was again wonderful. She is attentive, sends tons of photos and drops in with notes just to let you know your pup is doing okay. She lives in a great apartment in an easy area to get to, not congested for good walks with dogs, only 5 minutes off the interstate. We drive out of our way (over an hour) when visiting family in the area just to make sure Peanut gets time with Shantalee!!
John was amazing! Super responsive, even to a last-minute/ day-of booking! He took wonderful care of our lil Roxy, and sent lots of updates and photos throughout the days, which we so appreciated :) She’s 15 years old and can sometimes be a little skiddish, but she took right to him and he made her feel right at home. He’s a great dog sitter and was very kind and caring, will definitely be booking with him again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
