Patty was amazing! We generally don't like leaving our pup with someone we don't know if we can help it, but Patty made us feel at ease from the first contact. She gave us regular updates with plenty of pictures showing our pup clearly having a blast. We will be contacting Patty for future needs, and would highly recommend her to anyone!

Christopher and his wife took great care of my Penny. She had trouble going up the stairs (she is 12 years old, which is a lot for a bulldog!), so Christopher actually carried her up after every walk (and she’s not light!). They sent pictures and updates every day, and just overall a very lovely and caring couple!

Laura is amazing. She owns several small dogs, and has a lot of experience with senior & special needs dogs. She immediately put us at ease during the meet & greet, which she offered to do prior to Molly's stay to make sure we were comfortable w/ her & her home (and to see how Molly would do with her dogs). During Molly's stay, she sent us frequent pics, videos & updates, which was fantastic. She's competent, friendly, & reliable. We will definitely be bringing Molly back the next time we need boarding.

This was my first week away from my dogs. I was nervous and at first I was unsure of how to even start, find a sitter, and then make sure my dogs were okay with that person and their own dogs. But then I found Marisa and she made me feel so much better. We did a meet and greet, and while I was on my trip she kept in touch and sent photos. The process was painless, she communicated often, and my dogs were happy and healthy when I picked them up. I would 100% use Rover and Marisa again. She takes the anxiety out of travel and leaving your pups.

Debbie was great! We left our 1st time boarder w/ her very last minute when our weekend getaway informed us they no longer allow dogs. I was SUPER anxious to leave her, especially w/ a "stranger", but Debbie sent me lots of updates & pictures to ease my mind. By the time we picked her up, her tail was wagging, her ears were up & she was visibly relaxed & happy. Debbie also has a great, fenced-in side yard for the pups to run around in. We will be trusting here again to watch Molly.

Samantha and her partner Zachary took fabulous care of our two dogs for three days. They are both high energy young dogs, one 7 months and one 13 months old and we were worried that they were going to be a problem. They love each other, romping like crazy with each other indoors and out and Samantha and Zach had no problem dealing with them. When we went to pick them up, it was obvious that both dogs really liked their caregivers. What more can one hope for in someone taking care of their dogs? We will be using them again when we are back in the Albany area. Thank you, Samantha and Zachary! Clifford and Ann Wagner

I’ve booked Kevinh twice now, this time was a last minute, long-term arrangement. He was just as wonderful with Zula as he was the first time. He’s incredibly attentive to her needs, and I can see she adores him. He’s excellent! Absolutely no complaints at all.

Cache was great! I booked her last minute and she was able to immediately accommodate a meet and greet with Josie and I. She was comfortable and confident with Josie in the meet and greet and asked me clarifying questions and told me her process. Throughout the stay she sent me regular updates and photos/videos of my girl. Josie doesn’t like rain and had trouble going potty one morning and Cache kept me updated and was persistent with her. I will definitely be booking her again!!!

Kevin was amazing with our little senior dog, Roxy! We are so thankful we found him as we felt very reassured leaving her in his care. Will definitely re-book with him in the future!

10/10 recommend Vera! She went above and beyond making sure us and our pup were well cared for. She sent us regular updates, videos, and pictures. She gave Pierce a lavender calming collar to put him at ease on the first night. She even noticed that the mat underneath our dog bowls was frayed and coming undone and sewed it up for us. I was blown away by her kindness and palpable love of animals. Don’t hesitate to book Vera. You won’t regret it.

I was able to find Albert last minute, and I'm so glad I did! He's a total pro, and I knew my dog was in great hands within a few minutes of meeting him. Anna took care of our 2 senior boxes for 2 days while we were on vacation. Normally we leave them with trusted family members while we travel, but our daughter had plans and could not keep them in her care. Anna is the first pet sitter outside family who has kept them in her home. She cared for them as if they were her very own. They settled in easily and got along famously with Anna's fur babies. I highly recommend Anna to anyone needing to board their pet outside their home.

This was our boxer Peanut’s second time staying with Shantalee and it was again wonderful. She is attentive, sends tons of photos and drops in with notes just to let you know your pup is doing okay. She lives in a great apartment in an easy area to get to, not congested for good walks with dogs, only 5 minutes off the interstate. We drive out of our way (over an hour) when visiting family in the area just to make sure Peanut gets time with Shantalee!!

Every sitter on Rover has their own rhythm and routine, but most will follow the flow that keeps your dog happiest. Sitters can give meals on your dog's regular schedule, provide a comfortable place for sleep, and plenty of one-on-one attention.

98% of Rensselaer sitters also include daily walks in the neighborhood during dog boarding stays. You can also request photo and message updates throughout the stay so you can see which Rensselaer landmarks or neighborhoods your dog is enjoying.

If your dog is a little shy, consider booking a one-night trial stay! This practice run can boost your and your dog’s confidence before your trip.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Rensselaer home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Rensselaer.

Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
