Jennifer, Thomas and their girls took such good care of our pup. They sent frequent updates and photos throughout the visit, and we could instantly tell how comfortable our dog was in their home. Cannot recommend them enough!

This was our second time using Caroline as our dog sitter, always a great experience! She’s very communicative, sent us updates, and took such great care of our puppy while we were away for two nights. We plan to book with Caroline again and highly recommend her!

Clementine had a great stay with Gabe! I was kept up to date the entire weekend on how she was doing. She got along great with his pups and my fiancée and I were able to enjoy our weekend away.

Janice is such a warm and loving person. My dog took to her immediately and it was clear she is an animal person. She prioritizes making sure that your pet feels safe and comfortable. It is such a relief to have someone like her taking care of my girl when I have to be away.

I left my dog, Reba, with Jane for the first time last week. Jane was so kind, sending photos every other day to let me know Reba had settled in and was happy. Jane has several outdoor spaces for the dogs to roam around. I will use Jane again next time we go away. Thank you!

Cipriana was great! This was Buddy's first time boarding after adopting him five weeks ago and it couldn't have gone better. The Meet and Greet beforehand was a great experience and the pictures and texts that Cipriana sent during Buddy's stay were very much appreciated. Buddy will be staying again in the near future. Thanks, Cipriana

About: I was raised in a positive pet friendly family environment and had my own dogs and cats for more than twenty years. I can handle large, medium, and small dogs and will look to give them long walks and lots of exercise as a good dog is a tired dog. I work full-time but have plenty of free time during the week and on weekends to feed, walk, play fetch, or just hang out with your dog. I am happy to come to your home and walk your dog and or play at a local dog park, I am familiar with dogs from Yorkshire Terriers and Kings Charles Spaniels to Rottweilers and German Shepards.

I was in town for a work trip, but my dog didn’t have someone to watch him. Rosalie is a very sweet person and made my dog feel right at home. It was a nice day out, so he got to spend a lot of time outside exploring her yard! Thank you Rosalie!

Candice was so nice and was easy to coordinate with. Her space was perfect for my dog and a plus that she let him on the furniture as he loves to chill out on the couch and bed. My dog seems to have a great time and I’m so thankful to have someone nearby.

Kate has a very warm demeanor and my first impression when I brought our dog Astrid over to her house for a meet and greet before boarding, was that she would care for our dog as if she were her own. Astrid is usually quite anxious when she’s first introduced to a new person and a new environment, but she appeared to be more at ease much quicker with Kate at her house than she typically is. Kate sent us regular pictures and updates, was very flexible about our schedule for pickup and drop-off, prompt and easy to communicate with, and we didn’t worry about Astrid at all. We will certainly reach out to Kate again when planning future boarding accommodations for our sweet Astrid.

I highly recommend Amanda! This was my first time using Rover as well as my 5 year old dog's first time staying with anyone other than family. Amanda was great with communication from the beginning and reassuring throughout the whole process from initial contact to setting up a meet and greet to regular updates while we were away. My dog took to her right away and felt very comfortable with her throughout her stay as seen by cuddling pictures and happy outdoor time. I feel so fortunate to have found a reliable and trustworthy sitter.

Emma is terrific! Lightening quick communication, really nice, super focused on my boy, even has a separate space in her home for her visitors. Highly recommended.

Emma was a lovely surrogate pet mom for my mini schnauzer. It was horrifying that my dog took a little wee wee when she walked in, which is very unusual. And Emma was very kind about it. Even though my dog looked a little anxious when I left, she settled in quite nicely with her other dogs. Without a doubt, I would use Emma again and I would recommend her to other dog owners. Very conscientious, great communication and very kind. and I love the Daley photo of my dog!

Every sitter on Rover has their own rhythm and routine, but most will follow the flow that keeps your dog happiest. Sitters can give meals on your dog's regular schedule, provide a comfortable place for sleep, and plenty of one-on-one attention.

97% of Red Hook sitters also include daily walks in the neighborhood during dog boarding stays. You can also request photo and message updates throughout the stay so you can see which Red Hook landmarks or neighborhoods your dog is enjoying.

If your dog is a little shy, consider booking a one-night trial stay! This practice run can boost your and your dog’s confidence before your trip.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Red Hook home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Red Hook.

Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

You and your Red Hook sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
