She has stayed with our dog a few time and each time she has gone above and beyond in offering our dog daily activities. She sends photos and videos of the daily adventures they take together. I feel at ease knowing our dog is happy and in great hands with Jillian. Additionally she leave our home clean and sometime better than we left it. About: I was a dog walker back in college and loved getting to see my animal friends on a regular basis. I have more experience with adult and senior dogs but I can’t say no to a puppy! 🫶 I’m available usually after 10am and can drop in anytime. I can be busy on afternoons during the weekends but I’m mostly around to help. Very flexible and am willing to work with you on the best care for your loved one. Please give me clear instructions and i will be keeping you updated as much as you’d like, via texts and phone calls as needed.
“Sienna did a fantastic job caring for our husky dog. She also did a terrific job watering all our yard plants and she washed the bedding & towels before she left! Highly recommend!”

“Virginia was fantastic! She stayed with our hound, Lily, for a week while we were on vacation. She sent lots of photos and updates as to how our girl was doing. We definitely will use Virginia again in the future and highly recommend her! Thank you Virginia!!”

“Secret did a great job taking care of our two dogs. She gave us regular updates and sent photos which was greatly appreciated and even kept our plants watered during the high temps over the weekend. She was very professional and we would recommend for anyone looking for overnight or daily pet care.”

About: I grew up with dogs and helped raise two labs (a chocolate and a yellow) with my family. I also have experience pet sitting for friends, family, and others in my community, caring for pets in their homes and making sure they follow their normal routines. In addition, I volunteered with a nonprofit rescue organization called Rescue For Pet Sake in Grass Valley, where I helped care for and socialize dogs. Through these experiences, I’ve become very comfortable with different pet personalities and love making sure animals feel safe, happy, and well cared for. I’m also very respectful of clients’ homes and always aim to keep things clean, follow instructions carefully, and make sure both pets and owners feel comfortable. I’m currently working part-time, so I have a flexible schedule and lots of time to care for your pets. I love spending time playing, going on walks, and making sure every pet feels safe, happy, and well cared for. I treat every pet like they’re my own. I make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I follow all routines and care instructions carefully and can send updates and photos so you know how your pet is doing.
“Trustworthy and developed a short but heartfelt connection with Paprika. To me that is most important. Reliable and spot on with communication. Definitely will recommend and hire again.! Thank you Cydney.”

About: As a cattle dog owner, I'd like to think I have a special set of skills for crazy babies. I have always had rescues and fosters in my home. I have been fortunate to work with foster pets from the Caribbean and Mexico as well, each of these often came with health issues. I have experience with pregnant dogs and cats as well! If you are interested in having your pet stay over, know I have a very friendly dog. She has both experienced having guests and foster pets in the house as well. Tolerant and obedient. I have multiple rooms and baby gates for separation and quiet time. In general, I am a very active and outdoorsy person! So i am happy to take the pets out to the trails or the lake! I live on 10 quiet acres with a fenced yard. There is ample space to play outside or be kept safe and warm inside. I work from home 90% of the days so I can provide full time oversight and care. I also work a job where I can take the dogs with me if you approve! I am fortunate to work from home. I have the ability to provide care all day and night for your pet! I walk each morning and evening and have the option to take your pet out for a walk or a play on the property in both fenced and unfenced areas. I have an older dog who is very arthritic so I am used to caring for the elderly animals as well. Pets in my home have their own room if needed. I have plenty of space for crates. I have a large gated deck and live on 10 acres on a quiet road. My own pets walk daily with me along my road which works well for easy elder dog walks as it is shady even in the summer. It also can provide great training ground as there is little traffic. For the high energy babies, we can play fetch or take to the trails nearby. I have always had rescue pitties so I am comfortable with big cuddly babies. I adopted a cattle dog pup who had clinical anxiety which has taught me how to care for highly intelligent, high energy dogs as well. Treats, love, and confidence makes for a happy dog!
“Simone had great communication and was amazingly flexible with our timing needs - during a holiday weekend on top of that! Having peace of mind while away was much appreciated. She was respectful and easy going. Would definitely have her back to watch my mischievous pittie anytime!”

“Amy is kind, caring, and attentive. My pets loved her. She is excellent and communicating and sending updates. She’s very generous and fair with her pricing and services. She will be my go to for any future housesitting/ pet care needs. Thank you Amy 😍”

“I can definitely say that after being gone for eight days I was very appreciative for what I came back to. I've had my challenges with the dogs so for someone to come in a take over for a week seemed a little daunting however Yolanda came through with 5 stars... I have no doubt the dogs were well taken care of as all instructions left were meticulously followed and the dogs were definitely well cared for not to mention the house was cleaner then I left it. There's nothing better then coming back from a vacation with well taken care of dogs. Would definitely recommend for worry free dog sitting”
“Raina was amazing! This was our first time using rover and working with her, and we were so impressed. So communicative through our trip, and we knew our dogs were in good hands. She stayed at our house and left it cleaner than how we left it. Couldn’t recommend her enough!”

“Misty was amazing! She exceeded our expectations. I knew our fur babies were being loved and cared for by all the communication and pics that she sent. I came home to my house even cleaner than I left it ? I would definitely recommend.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 278 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Red Dog. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Red Dog walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Red Dog maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Red Dog choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Red Dog. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
