“Caleigh did a fantastic job taking care of my place and my pets!! The cat is especially hard to take care of, so it was great knowing I didn't need to worry while I was away! Would highly recommend her services!!”

“Becky is great! My friend dog sitter fell through for NYE, and Becky was available. She met Beau and me on an evening a couple days prior. My mini Aussie Beau has cancer, so he needs to pee about every 4-5 hours due to his meds and drinking a lot of water. I was out of town for the night. Becky made sure to watch him and let him out when needed. She let me know when she left my house, and I could hardly tell she was even there, but my Beau got his treats and bathroom breaks so I know she took good care of him! Meeting Becky, she instant gave me good vibes and I can tell she cares about animals. Highly recommend her!”

“Robbi was great! My 4 kids can be a handful and ahe cared for them in stride. I got tons of update photos and videos. Communication was great and everyone was happy when we returned. Thanks Robbi!”

“Laura was the best pet sitter for my 2 dogs and 2 cats for in-home care. They all accepted her from the first meeting. She respected everything in the house and though it wasn’t expected had tidied the house before our arrival home making for a great homecoming. I will certainly have her care for the pets again.”

“Ronda was wonderful! She is so professional and friendly. We received text messages and photos everyday letting us know how our dogs were doing. When we arrived home everything was tidy and our dogs were happy. This was our first time using Rover and we are very pleased. Thanks Ronda!”

About: When me and your dog get together, and I’ll drop off your dog. Your dog will tell you how much they enjoyed the excitement and plans, but we did the amount of walks we do in the amount of time to play play fetch go to the dog park go on a run, the amount of snacks that we eat it’s like a dream come true just in dog form. I love my dog and being outside so I will love your dog just as much maybe more! Every day of the week Sunday through Sunday whenever I can play with your dog or changes going on a walk is the perfect time for me. I care for the dog like it’s my dog. Anytime of the daylight and sun is up is when we will be outside and enjoying the sunshine and breeze
About: My daughter Trenna and I grew up with dogs and cats and we love all their different personalities and they bring so much joy to our lives. When you get a dog it’s a commitment. They are our kids. I am looking for a partime job. What a fun opportunity to do something I love. I have three dogs/kids myself. I can’t wait to get home from work and. see their wiggly tails. They don’t care what kind of day you just had, they just want to love on you. When I am home they are wherever I am. During the day they are in their kennels. Two of them are not even 2 yet so they like their toys.
About: I am as die-hard an animal lover as it gets. Name an animal and I am passionate about it. A lot of people in this town love to hunt but I could never do it. You know those princess movies where they sing and all the birds and animals coming running towards her? That’s me. I have worked as a dog sitter for the past 3 years with many many repeat clients and regulars. I worked on and off this app for a year and have worked at the Humane Society and a professional Doggy Boarding business. I value my friendship with each and every one of my dog clients. In the past, I’d load my 4 regulars in the car and we’d go to the local dog park together (with the parents permission of course) and then everyone would get a puppichino afterwards. I pride myself on having open availability and being affordable for the average person. I work part-time so my schedule is easy to work around. My old girl past away about a year and a half ago, she was my childhood dog (she was supposed to be a family dog, but she was always mine. I took her with me when I moved out) so now I only have my one cat, Breakfast. I still feel the urge to hang out with a dog but I don’t think now is the right time to adopt another one, so I love to hang out with other peoples pets to fulfill that need lol. That’s why I’m so passionate about my job. Intrigued? Questions? Concerns? Let me know! I look forward to hearing from you! I work part-time here in town so I have a relatively open-schedule and plan my week with my dog schedule in mind. I have to no problem staying over, dropping by to throw the toy around, or going for an hour walk. I’m very attentive and caring. I may dote on your pets too much even. Its important to me to maintain a patient and understanding attitude when dealing with pets. I always make sure they are clean, fed, and well exercised. Of course they can sleep on my bed or my couch.
“Faith did a great job taking care of our house and two dogs over a holiday weekend. Communication was good, she sent us photos daily, and seemed to enjoy the company of the pups. House looked great when we returned. I will definitely reach out to her in the future.”

“We will rebook services with Joslin anytime our dog needs them. She has great communication with us leading up to and during pet sitting so we can always rest easy knowing that our pup is able to stick to his routine without stress. She is kind, caring, and fun. Thank you, Joslin!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs my whole life. I currently have four dogs; I have two female German shepherds, a male golden doodle, and a female black Labrador retriever. I have house sat a couple of times with the dogs I own, but I have also house sat for two Rhodesian ridgebacks and two cats regularly. When I am away at school, I volunteer at the Heartland Humane Society in Yankton SD once a week. I play, walk, and enrich all the different dogs in that facility. I currently work part time, usually in the evenings; I have plenty of time to hang out with your pups! I would be able to stop by for potty breaks frequently or go on walks. If overnight services are needed, I would be able to stay overnight and take care of your animal’s needs. I love animals. When I dog or house sit, I hang out with the animals as much as possible. I am vigilant and make sure that they are being properly cared for.
“Nathan is a fantastic dog and house sitter. He came to the house for a preliminary meet and great, and his communication throughout the entire process was excellent. I had complete confidence that my senior Mastiff and home were well cared for while Nathan was here. I will also say that Nathan goes above and beyond in terms of sitting, so I will be using him again and again. It's nice to know he is available. He's a great asset to Rover and our local community.”

About: I have experience both in professional animal care and pet sitting. I worked at a veterinary clinic as a receptionist and vet assistant, and I’ve also been a pet sitter since I was a teen. Hi! I’m Olivia, and I love caring for pets of all shapes and sizes. I live in Rapid City and have experience both in professional animal care and pet sitting. I worked at a veterinary clinic as a receptionist and vet assistant, and I’ve also been a pet sitter since I was a teen. I currently work full-time as a Registered Behavioral Technician and take online college courses, so I’m looking to help with dog walking, drop-ins, or short visits a few hours a week. I’m reliable, trustworthy, and excited to spend quality time with your furry friends while you’re away or busy. I’m happy to provide references from past clients and am comfortable with pets of all sizes and temperaments. Your pet’s safety, happiness, and well-being are my top priorities! provide personalized care for dogs in their own home to ensure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. During visits, I follow the owner’s instructions for feeding, exercise, and any special needs, and I make sure to provide plenty of attention, playtime, and positive interaction. I take the time to observe each dog’s personality and mood so they feel secure in their environment. I also clean up after them, refresh water, and make sure their home stays tidy. My goal is to give both the pets and their owners peace of mind knowing they are well cared for in their familiar surroundings.
“Felicity is a delightful pet sitter with excellent experience. She took care of our 2 cats for three weeks and kept us well informed on their status. Hopefully she will be available for our next trip. We will not have a worry about them as long as she is there.”

About: Services offered: Dog sitting, Cat sitting, other animal sitting, dog walking, dog behavior reinforcement, animal enrichment, basic grooming/sanitary shaving/mat removal, medication administration (oral, IV, IM, SQ), daily routine encouragement, and more! All services are tailored to your pets needs! What sets me apart is my combination of veterinary, shelter medicine, behavior, and hands-on pet care experience. As a current veterinary technician and former Medical Manager at a Humane Society, I bring a deeper understanding of animal health, behavior, stress, and emotional well-being than the average pet sitter. My care philosophy is rooted in positive reinforcement, patience, and trust-building. I believe pets thrive when they feel safe, understood, and respected. Whether caring for a playful puppy, an anxious rescue, a senior pet, or a cat who prefers quiet companionship, I tailor my approach to their individual needs and personality. Clear and concise communication with you as the owner, is utmost important when caring for your fur baby! I am experienced with medication administration, senior pet care, behavioral support, and maintaining routines that help pets feel secure while their families are away. My background allows me to recognize subtle changes in behavior or health and communicate any concerns promptly. Most importantly, I treat every pet as if they were my own—with compassion, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing a low-stress, enriching experience that supports both their physical and emotional well-being. We’ll start by discussing your pet’s unique needs, routine, and preferences, as well as your expectations for their care. From there, we’ll create a plan that works best for both you and your pet while fitting within my full-time work schedule. I pride myself on being flexible, reliable, and easy to work with. As a veterinary professional, I have the ability to adjust my schedule when needed, including stopping by during the day for potty breaks, medication administration, or check-ins. For overnight care, I can provide visits before and after work to ensure your pet maintains their routine and receives consistent, attentive care. My goal is to make the process as stress-free as possible, providing dependable care and clear communication so you can have peace of mind while you're away. I provide care for your pet(s) in the comfort of their own home because I believe familiar surroundings are essential to their emotional well-being. Remaining in their normal environment helps reduce stress, anxiety, and disruptions to their routine, allowing them to feel safe and secure while you're away. This is especially important for cats, as changes in environment can often lead to stress-related behaviors and, in some cases, illness. By keeping your pet in their home and maintaining their usual routine, I help create a calm, low-stress experience that supports both their physical and emotional health. Rather than requiring your pet to adjust to a new setting, I come to them. This allows your furry family member to receive personalized, compassionate care where they are most comfortable—right at home. My goal is to provide peace of mind for you and a positive, stress-free experience for your pet.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Rapid City
Hannah was an amazing Pet Sitter and house Sitter. This was the best experience I’ve had on Rover. Hannah sent me several pictures throughout the day letting me know how my pups were doing. We truly appreciate how well informed she kept us as one of our dogs is very anxious and she seemed to do very well with her. Also, our house was spotless when we returned and an extra bonus was she made us cookies. Amazing! Highly recommend.

Felicity is a delightful pet sitter with excellent experience. She took care of our 2 cats for three weeks and kept us well informed on their status. Hopefully she will be available for our next trip. We will not have a worry about them as long as she is there.

I can’t say enough good things about Taylor! She is absolutely amazing with my pups — super communicative, sent the best photo updates, and truly went above and beyond to make sure my babies felt safe, loved, and comfortable while I was away. It’s such a relief knowing they were in caring hands. Highly recommend — 10/10 experience!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Rapid City on Rover is $42.18 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rapid City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rapid City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rapid City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
