“Faith was great! Took great care of our dog. Sent pictures and kept in touch with us. We asked if she could come a little earlier than planned and she accommodated us, very friendly. We would definitely use her again. Highly recommend her!”

“Jack was a great house sitter! He met with us and the dogs a few weeks prior to introduce ourselves and he was kind and respectful. He stayed at our house for 6 days. He asked good questions and had us provide important information which made us feel comfortable in leaving him with our dogs. Throughout the week, he sent us some photos of them and would give us occasional updates. He would always respond if we had a question or two. He was very generous and moved a lot of heavy packages that were delivered, into our garage which was very nice since it was raining a lot when I got home. The house was very clean and everything seemed to be in place and the dogs were happy! Overall, I had peace of mind while I was gone and I would definitely recommend Jack for others to book.”

About: Ive taken care of dogs of all ages since I was 8 years old. I truly care for every dog no matter the breed or size! I'm currently working a very flexible schedule so I have plenty of time for the four legged friends! I get at least 2 days off a week as well! I have 2 friendly dogs to keep your furry friend company with the accomadations of a fenced in yard and plenty of toys to keep occupied!
About: I’ve had pets my whole life and have always loved caring for animals. Growing up, I regularly helped family friends care for their dogs, and in recent years I’ve started pet sitting more regularly for friends, family, and people in my personal life. My partner is also a Rover sitter, so I’ve had lots of hands on experience helping with his clients and caring for dogs with different personalities, routines, and needs. I have about 3 years of recent pet sitting experience and genuinely enjoy getting to know each pet as an individual. I work a standard Monday–Friday, 9–5 schedule, but my job is flexible and allows me to leave when needed to check on pets. I’m available throughout the week, including weekends, and can accommodate morning, afternoon, and evening visits. I’m also completely comfortable with overnight house sitting and can work around your pet’s usual routine to help them feel comfortable while you’re away. My priority is making sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for in their own environment. Since I have pets of my own and live in an apartment, I don’t offer boarding in my home, but I’m happy to care for pets in their home where they’re most comfortable. I’m comfortable following individual routines and providing extra care when needed, and I’m happy to communicate closely with pet parents so I know exactly what their pets need.
About: Growing up on a hobby ranch has had me working with many different animals since I was little.I have also attended Canine Good Citizenship with my dog in 4H. I have many references for pet sitting in the Piedmont/Summerset/Black Hawk area. I currently work part-time mornings to noon. I can watch dogs during the week or on weekends. I can take them for walks or for potty breaks. I’m also available for overnight pet sitting for cats and dogs. I feed and water cats, dogs, chickens, and cows.I take them for walks, with extended playtime and attention. I follow instructions from the owner on feeding and caring for them, so I know their routine and needs.
About: When me and your dog get together, and I’ll drop off your dog. Your dog will tell you how much they enjoyed the excitement and plans, but we did the amount of walks we do in the amount of time to play play fetch go to the dog park go on a run, the amount of snacks that we eat it’s like a dream come true just in dog form. I love my dog and being outside so I will love your dog just as much maybe more! Every day of the week Sunday through Sunday whenever I can play with your dog or changes going on a walk is the perfect time for me. I care for the dog like it’s my dog. Anytime of the daylight and sun is up is when we will be outside and enjoying the sunshine and breeze
“Christina was great! She took good care of our pup while we were on vacation. She communicated well and kept us updated during the day for on how she was doing. I highly recommend her!”

“Nathan watched our 2 dogs and cat while we went on vacation for 6 days. We had never used Rover before so we're a little nervous. But he did great and the pets were taken good care of. Updates and pictures were sent many days. Very appreciated. We will be using his services again.”

About: My family has had a dog since I was in high school and I have been around dogs ever since. I am here to help. I work full time and I am home every night so will have plenty of time to go for a walk or play with your pets. I have a good size fenced in yard to let the pets go play and have fun with toys or I like going for hikes and can take them with!
About: I’ve taken care of dogs big and small, for neighbors, friends, and family since I was young. I work well with routine. Most animals love me from the moment we meet, willing to stay with the animals all day. Currently working part time so can stay with animals for long periods of time. Can work most days of the week. Not in school and my other job is for whenever I can. Unfortunately I cannot have other animals at the apartment complex I live in so I wouldn’t be available to watch them here. Also I only have unsociable cats at home so I wouldn’t be able to bring them over for play dates either.
“Rhonda was so kind and accommodating to our ever changing plans. We stayed at the Renaissance Inn (Watiki) located a quick 10 min down the road. from her. This made it super easy to drop off our pup on our way out to explore beautiful south dakota and easy to pick him up on our way back to the hotel. My pup came home happy and tired from a full day of fun…a far better option than having him sit in a hot car as we explored and visited some places (eg Mt Rushmore) that didn’t allow dogs. We had a great time in south dakota and so did our dog—-winning!”

About: Dogs have always been a big part of my life! I grew up, always having at least two dogs in the house, so I’m very comfortable caring for dogs with different personalities, energy levels, and routines. I’ve also dog sat on many occasions for family members and friends, whether it was for a day or a whole weekend. I’m comfortable with feeding schedules, walks, playtime, potty breaks, and of course, plenty of attention and cuddles! I understand the importance of needing someone you trust to care for your pets and you can trust me to treat your dogs like they’re my own :) I typically work three 12-hour shifts in a row which leaves me with several days off to spend with your pets during the week! This provides me with plenty of time to make sure your pets get the attention, exercise, and companionship they need rather than being left alone for long periods. You can trust that your dog can feel safe and comfortable at my home in my care. I have a fenced in yard where dogs can safely get outside for potty breaks and playtime, along with access to nearby parks and walking trails for plenty of exercise and exploring. I also have toys and treats available to make their stay extra fun. When caring for pets in my own home, I’m happy to follow their normal routines as closely as possible, including feeding schedule, walks, potty breaks, playtime, and any specific instructions you provide. I know pets are often most comfortable in their usual routine/home, so I’ll make sure they get lots of attention and care while they’re away and of course I’m happy to send pictures and updates so you know your pet is happy and well cared for.
“We will rebook services with Joslin anytime our dog needs them. She has great communication with us leading up to and during pet sitting so we can always rest easy knowing that our pup is able to stick to his routine without stress. She is kind, caring, and fun. Thank you, Joslin!”

About: My daughter Trenna and I grew up with dogs and cats and we love all their different personalities and they bring so much joy to our lives. When you get a dog it’s a commitment. They are our kids. I am looking for a partime job. What a fun opportunity to do something I love. I have three dogs/kids myself. I can’t wait to get home from work and. see their wiggly tails. They don’t care what kind of day you just had, they just want to love on you. When I am home they are wherever I am. During the day they are in their kennels. Two of them are not even 2 yet so they like their toys.
“Candace and Cody are great! I was a little worried at first since my guy is so little and they had big dogs, but it went very well and my pup actually enjoyed playing with the big boys. They even gave Auggie his space on the couch like he has at home! 😆. We will definitely use Candace and Cody again!”

“Meredith is an amazing sitter! In all my years of using Rover, I can honestly say, she is the best sitter I have ever hired! She was very attentive and quickly responded to messages! She was amazing with my Shepard and cat, taking great care of them both, playing with them and taking my Shepard for many walks! She was also great with sending me pics of them so I wouldnt miss them so much and also great to see how well she was taking care of them, as though they were her own, which is great to know! I highly recommend Meredith, she will not disappointe you, but rather impress you beyond any other sitter you have or will hire!”

Faith did a great job taking care of our house and two dogs over a holiday weekend. Communication was good, she sent us photos daily, and seemed to enjoy the company of the pups. House looked great when we returned. I will definitely reach out to her in the future.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Black Hawk walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Black Hawk maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Black Hawk choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
