“Thanks for spending the time with Jenny walking her and letting her interact with the kids. That socialization is so important and also wears her out. She does love a car ride!”

“Terry is a great sitter, clearly loves what she does and treats your pet as her own. She’s kind and conscientious and was more than happy to help us out in a tight spot. I’d certainly recommend her to anyone in need of a sitter/walker. She’s great.”

About: I have been a dog enthusiast for as long as I can remember. In my early twenties I found myself dog sitting often, and began volunteering at the Connecticut Humane Society as a dog walker and trainer. My passion for animals and nature fuels my desire to pet sit and dog walk full time. I am a student whose primary income is in dog walking and pet sitting. This means I am committed to giving your pet the attention and care they deserve! I have a family of my own but their routine is flexible. *I am on campus Mondays, Wednesdays, thus unavailable for drop-ins between 7am and 6pm. I am comfortable working in other peoples' homes. I love to spend time with animals in their natural environment, and find myself tidying when I'm there. I will often leave your home cleaner than I found it! It's in my nature to take care of the spaces I inhabit, and I do so with absolute respect. I take great care to protect the privacy of my clients while I nurture their pets and living space.
About: I've had dogs all of my life and have plenty of experience with cats as well. I prefer dogs but love both! I have had dogs up to 70 lbs and experience with up to 100 lbs. I love walking and will gladly take dogs on walks around your neighborhood. I have hit 10 miles a day, so don't worry about me tiring out!
About: I've lived with dogs nearly my whole life, and cats for half of it. I have taken care of said pets for years and been an in-family pet sitter on numerous occasions. My mother frequently cares for other pets through apps like this/through friends, and I assist her with that when needed. At the moment, I care for my mother's pets when she leaves town for any length of time (1 small/medium dog, 1 cat). Otherwise, I'm a free agent. Some of the services listed on the app have the potential to overlap (such as a visit and a walk), I don't consider the price to be totally compounding, just let me know and we can figure out what works best. I'd imagine this is on a situational basis. I'll pet/feed/walk them and am able to follow directions as well as any human, should your pet require specific, or unique, handling. I can usually read pet body language pretty well, but have no specific training in it. If there are any areas of confusion for me, I'll be sure to ask questions to make sure your pet is cared for properly.

“Sara has been incredible with our dogs. There are three of them, all big, two with substantial anxiety, and none of them is really leash trained. In other words, they're a handful. We have been floored by Sara's insight, skill, patience, and warmth. She has charmed our dogs and left us feeling confident that they are in capable, kind hands. Sara is the first non-family member we have trusted to care for our dogs, and we are so grateful to be working with her.”

“Avery was great with my dog Cici! She took her on nice long walks, was super easy to communicate with, and most importantly Cici loved her. I really appreciated the updates and how smooth everything was. Would definitely book with her again :)”

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
