“Talia did a wonderful job house sitting for us! She provided lots of pupdates and left our place neat. We appreciated the good communication and time she spent with our pups!”

“Liz was so great! She went above and beyond just caring for our dogs. It is such a relief to know you can trust that your pets are in good hands. Even left us cupcakes for when we returned :) Thank you Liz!!!”

“We couldn’t have been happier with Kim and taking care of our dog. She was very responsive, sent pictures and lots of updates throughout. I would definitely recommend and will be booking in the future!”

“Mara was great! She kept us informed; the dogs really liked her, she was good at communicating, and spent a lot of time with our pups. They clearly liked her and were very balanced, and not upset with our leaving, when we returned.”

“Hannah was fantastic! She stayed overnight to watch our boys so we could have a night out, and we couldn't have asked for a better sitter. She sent photos and updates throughout the night, which gave us total peace of mind while we were out enjoying a concert. She left the house neat and tidy, and it was clear the boys were in great hands. We'll definitely be booking Hannah again next time we need a Rover!”

“Emily was great! We have a really young dog and a really old dog… with very different personalities. Emily did great with them! The house was in great shape when we got back and the pups were happy and healthy! She was a great communicator. Will definitely use her as a dog/housesitter in the future!”

“Gracie did a great job with our elderly dog who gets meds. Got regular updates and house was tidy when we returned home. We’ll be reaching out again next time we’re looking for a dog sitter!”

“Leah is an absolutely fantastic sitter! She has watched our boys a couple of times now, and we can't recommend her highly enough. Her communication is top notch, and we really love all the pictures and videos she sends. We hate leaving them, so getting those updates gives us such great peace of mind. What truly sets Leah apart is that she goes above and beyond. It's clear she genuinely cares and doesn't just do the bare minimum (she even helped clean up the yard, which was so appreciated!). If you want someone reliable who will take amazing care of your pets, Leah is your person. (Just please don't steal her away when we need her!)”

About: Hi! I’m Claire Loria and I have worked with a wide range of dogs! I grew up with dogs and work at a doggie daycare in my home town! I have cared for a wide range of size, age, temperament, and health! I believe every dog is a good dog and deserves the highest quality of care, patience, and love! I can’t wait to meet your dog and give them as much love as their boundaries with a new person allows! I’m a junior in college attending UWS! I play soccer and love to stay active! I’m only taking 2 in person classes leaving most of my day to play, walk, and care for your pet! When caring for pets I like to treat them like people in a way. They have feelings, boundaries, and needs, it’s my job listen to what your pet needs, what they are comfortable with, and what I can do to create the best pet sitting experience I can.

About: From St Bernards to Yorkies we have sat for a wide variety of pets. Our family, including Banjo the Beagle would love to host your pup. We are conveniently situated in The Lincoln Park Craft District- 2 blocks away from the trail and daily trail walks are an important part of our routine. My daily routine consists of 2 miles of dog walking- at least. As a teacher I am off in the summer, so I have lots of time to spend with your pup. During the school year I work nearby by and could cruise home for a midday potty break at lunch-as needed. I have a very social 4 year old dog to keep your pet entertained. I live very near excellent dog walking trails. If you have a social dog we love dog park trips.

“Riley was so good with our dog who has separation anxiety. She helped us out on short notice and was very friendly and took great care of our Josie girl. You can tell Riley cares deeply for animals, and that’s my kind of human! 10/10 would recommend!”

About: I’ve taken care of my brothers pitbull and my mom’s Argentinian dogo on and off for the last six years and I love it! I’ve always loved taking care of animals, in a different life I would have been a vet! I’m new to the are and moved here to be a co manager at a clothing store. I’m hoping to fill my extra time with taking care of furry family members! I work full time as a manager at a clothing store, but have two days off during the week and usually time before or after a shift to help as well. I can only help animals in the home of their own parents, but can follow instructions and will do anything to help and take care of your pet.
About: I’ve taken care of many different kinds of dogs since I was young. My family has a 14 year old Great Dane who I consider my baby. We have also had other smaller dogs such as a mini Aussie doodle and an Italian greyhound. I have been pet sitting dogs since I was in middle school and I always enjoyed spending time with every dog I met. I have a special place in my heart for senior dogs and I have experience with lifting and carrying very large senior dogs with difficulty jumping, as well as caring for dogs with sundowners. I’m also pretty good at getting most dogs to take their meds. I’m a college student so I mostly have evenings and weekends free. Getting a few hours in outside of my regular schedule is really helpful to me. I am very respectful of your space and I want to make sure the dog feels comfortable most of all. I will carefully read the list of tasks I’m left and make sure that everything gets done so that you can come back home with no concerns about your house or your pet.
“Anna was great. My cats seemed to be very comfortable with her. Even my scardey cat Luna. It was nice to know they had company and were being fed. I would definitely hire Anna again. The house was clean when we got home and the cats were happy to see us. Anna spoiled them perfectly! Thanks Anna!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Proctor walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Proctor maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Proctor choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
