About: I raise my own dog and now have a very talkative cat. I have responsibly taken care of acquaintances’ and friends’ pets for years. Each pet has its own unique personality and I just want to help how I can. I am very flexible at the moment. I am doing full-time online school that doesn’t have a meeting time so I can easily rearrange my day as needed to help. I have more flexibility on weekdays than weekends but can do both. I am great at recognizing what a pet needs while also being firm with boundaries and rules for their safety. I know how to care for not only your pet and home, but will respect both.
“James was fantastic! He went out of his way to check on our kitties and give them love. He made sure my elderly cat had her kidney foot. He’s punctual, compassionate, and respectful thank you James!”

“Julianne was wonderful! My kitties ended up warming right up to her and they were happy to have her around. She was very good at keeping me updated and sent me lots of photos. Highly recommended and will absolutely use her again if she's available! ?”

“Our scheduled pet sitter canceled and in desperation, I searched the internet and found Rover. I sent out my request and in minutes James responded. I was instantly relieved. He came over to visit us before leaving for vacation to meet us and our pets. James administered medication and took wonderful care of our 4 cats and dog. We are super grateful for all the help and services James provided us. We will definitely rebook again!!!”

“Kristen was communicative and just an overall great experience. She watched my two cats while I was out of town and made me feel completely at ease. Would definitely recommend”

About: I've been around dogs my entire life and have experience caring for both small and large breeds. In addition to caring for my own dog, I've also dog-sat for family, friends, and neighbors.I understand that every dog has a unique personality and routine, and I always make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while in my care. Whether it's walks, playtime, feeding, or simply providing companionship, I'm committed to giving pets the attention they deserve. As a full-time teacher during the school year, I have a structured and reliable schedule. Currently, I am completing home training modules, which gives me flexibility during the day for pet care visits. I’m available for drop-in visits, walks, feeding, playtime, and companionship, and I will always communicate clearly about my availability and arrival times. I provide care exclusively in my clients’ homes, where pets can remain comportable in their familiar environment and routine. I take time to learn each pet’s needs, feeding schedule, exercise requirements, medications, and any special instructions. I prioritize safety, follow all household guidelines, keep owners updated with messages and photos, and treat every home and pet with the same respect and care I would expect for my own.
“Tati was able to walk our three pups on very short notice and also flexible for a time change. We received great pictures of all three frolicking in the snow and posing inside. Tati also did an extra for me checking on an appliance I was concerned about. Tati is well loved by our pups, especially our high strung little Westie. Highly recommend!! <3”

“Veska took such great care with our 16 year old dachshund. She went above and beyond to walk and feed Sweetpea. We highly recommend the dog care service that Veska provides.”

“Justina took great care of my cats while I was gone. She did daily check ins at my house, gave them so much love and attention, and sent me daily photos and updates. I will definitely be booking again for future trips.”

About: I’ve have had a handful of dogs in my lifetime, all who have lived/are living long, healthy, happy lives! At 16, I started working at Play All Day Doggie Daycare in Portsmouth, NH, and only left to go to college in Boston. I also work part-time in the summer at Charmingfare Farm in Candia, NH. I have experience with cleaning up after the dogs, administering medication, bathing, boarding, feeding, walking, but most importantly, making them feel loved and ensuring they have fun! I am going to school full-time and am a student athlete as well. I have a spread out class schedule so walks are easier to incorporate in my routine. I will provide anything/everything that you request and more. Whether it’s just making sure they go to the bathroom for a half hour and releasing some energy, or staying with them overnight and attending to health needs. I will make sure your dogs are well taken care of, beyond satisfaction. Specialized in aggression & reactivity!
“Cody was great! She was very communicative and dedicated to our cats. Our flight home was cancelled and she stayed on to help. She brought them toys, hung out with them and always made sure they were well fed. Thank you Cody! :)”

“Haleigh was just absolutely wonderful! She was so communicative, punctual, thoughtful, and caring for our dog and even checked on our cats too. She gave updates and cared for every need, was so nice and friendly, took our pup for walks, outdoor play time, cuddles, washed food containers, and even brought our packages in from the rain. I can’t recommend her highly enough!!”

About: I'm an animal lover and have grown up with all types of animals. I have been trusted taking care of neighbors, friends, and families pets for many years. My sister is a veterinarian so I often get the pet questions. I will go above and beyond for your pet. I work from home Monday and Tuesday so I am free to go for walks and drop by your house most of the time these days. I am in the office Wednesday through Friday and will have less time but still available. Weekends are free unless I'm away. I live on an acre of land. It is not a fully fenced yard but it is set back in a small, quiet neighborhood on a dead end road. I have an indoor cat.
About: Hi! Heya! Hello! Are you looking for someone to care for your pet while your away? Well you've found them! Fun, energetic animal lover who can't wait to meet your pet! Drop-ins and Walking! Volunteer work with B.A.R.K, S.P.C.A, as well as experience working as a kennel assistant at Holiday Barn Pet Resort. Why I love dog sitting? I've always gravitated towards animals; I was that kid who brought home any animal that crossed my path, feeding strays, foresting. Growing up in a home where the pet to human ratio always favored pets, pet sitting is second nature to me. My experience administering medication I've done my fair share of administering medication to all sorts of animals. I am able to administer oral, injections, topical ointments, as well as suppositories. I currently work a dual remote position at NHPBS and have the flexibility to work from home which allows me ample time to provide the attention and care your pet requires. I’ll be an extension of your home and care. The goal is to provide a safe environment where your pet feels loved and has an enjoyable stay until your return.
About: Kristine and Eric have loved and had animals our entire life. I have always helped care for pets, even as a child. Eric was raised on a farm, caring for many different kinds of animals- waking up before dawn to ensure that all animals were properly cared for and had what they needed for the day whether it be rain, shine, snow, sleet, hot, or cold. We, together, have two dogs. They are both around 10 years old and are rescues. We also have 6 chickens. Our home has a door from the downstairs to the upstairs. When dogs are home during the day and if left alone for 1 hour or so they stay downstairs with access to water, comfy couches, and dog bed areas. When we are home they have free run of the home. We also have a crate for dogs that may need a private, safe space. We have a back yard that our dog enjoys playing in, but just so you know it is not fenced in, therefore dogs remain leashed when in the back yard. We do have a deck that is closed off in the backyard where dogs can be left unleashed to hang out, but always supervised when out there. We also have a 15 year old daughter who loves animals. She assists with the care of our dogs and we have fostered a few dogs in the past from various shelters and she is always eager to assist with making these dogs feel comfortable and give them love. She volunteers at a local animal shelter with small mammals and takes care of the chickens I work full time during the school year for a school district. Eric works from home. Eric takes dogs for a number of walks per day including walks to the local dog park (Rogers Park) and to local beaches for exercise and socialization. I am home by 3:30 pm and bring my dogs (and other dogs) for exercise either running, hiking, or walking. In the summer I am mostly around. I also grew up with cats and with both have experience with cats and providing meds to cats, including insulin shots. I work full time and Eric works part to full time but we can walk dogs in the evening and walk dogs throughout the day on the weekends. I have summers off as I work in a school. I will not be offering care in my home, but am excited to take care of your pet and walk your dog and take your dog on adventures.
About: Dogs were my first love. I've cared for dogs young and old, adopted and fostered dogs, raised puppies, provided training at all ages, and provided post-op and healthcare for unwell dogs. I have extensive experience loving and supporting dogs through their toughest moments, including separation anxiety, phobias, and illnesses. I've walked with pups from all paws of life - all breeds, ages, energies, and personalities - and loved them all!! All dogs are wonderful, and I will never, ever discriminate by breed. As a full-time dog pamperer, I've got plenty of attention, love, toys, and fluffy blankets to keep your furbaby happy and loved while you are away! I will love your dog exactly as they are - high-energy, low-energy, and everything in between. Whether they want endless walks or endless snuggles, I am excited to make your dog's stay an unforgettable getaway just for them! I know how hard it is to trust someone with your best friend. I'm happy to go above and beyond to make you feel confident that your pet is in good hands - from photos and updates to video check-ins. Your comfort matters to me just as much as your furbaby's. I always provide top-tier pet care, giving you peace of mind so you can enjoy your vacation to the fullest! I have a highly flexible schedule that allows me to give your pup all the love and attention they deserve! I am delighted to accommodate your furbaby anytime with enough notice. I am available for boarding weekends and weekdays, any time of year. My dog is the center of my universe, and I will treat your pup like they were my own! My house is their house, and my furniture is their furniture! My wonderful 9-year-old dog, Cleo, will be happy to keep your furbaby company. She's super friendly, low-energy, and always eager for a cuddle. I have access to a private dog park, an unfenced yard, and easy access to nearby nature trails, parks, and beaches! I can't wait to meet your furbaby!
About: I love dogs and have a beautiful almost 9 yo 1/2 Lab 1/2 GSP of my own who I fostered and then adopted February 2018; she will gladly keep your dog company and busy playing at my home. I have a large fenced in back yard 2 miles from downtown Portsmouth with plenty of room for the dogs to play and run around in. I am recently retired from Corp Amer, and am home with the dogs so they won’t be left alone. I will only take up to 3 dogs (dogs must be over 2 years of age and show zero signs of any aggression) in at a time for day care and 1 or 2 for boarding so your dog will get plenty of love and one on one attention. My prices may be a little bit higher than other people on this app, but that is because I’m only taking one or two dogs at a time and your dog is getting 1:1 care versus being in a rowdy kennel type environment with several dogs around. You can rest assured knowing I will care for your pets better than most. When I am walking your dog, I will engage with them, give them loads of attention, and will not be looking at/reading my phone. There are toys and tennis balls for them to play with in the yard and they will be let out every 2 hours for potty breaks and play, and can lounge around on the couches if they feel like it too. If they are 100% trained with recall, we go for 2 off leash trail enrichment hikes/ walks per day, otherwise they can be walked on leash around my neighborhood. At bed time, I play soft spa like music so the pups can sleep well and comfortable. I would like to have a meet and greet with all dogs and owners before they board at my home. My daycare rates are for up to 8 hours per day. If you drop your dog off at 8:30am, the dog must be picked up by 4:30pm otherwise you will be charged an additional half day rate. Latest pickup is 6:30pm. After 6:30pm it becomes an overnight. Drop offs must be before 6pm. I cater to dogs that need a little extra support and don’t do well in a chaotic kennel environment, which is why it is more of a “boutique “style service. (1:1) At the most, I might pop out for an hour but the dogs will not be left alone for more than an hour or 2 max. I have a large crate here if your dogs likes to be crated. I am not currently housesitting, only taking dogs in at my home. I do not book out months in advance. I generally only book out 1-2 months in advance. I am now currently only booking through Aug 2026. I let the dogs out every couple of hours for potty breaks and play. I will only take in 2-3 dogs max for daycare at a time and one or two dogs at a time for overnights, as to not overwhelm any of the dogs. This is a relaxed stress free environment for the dogs. I do not take in any dogs that show any signs of aggression.
The median cost per visit for pet sitting in Portsmouth is $25
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Portsmouth
Tati was amazing as she helped us out in a pinch using the drop in services for our dog. She was responsive, prompt with her visits, and sent plenty of photos, despite knowing I was going to be out of cell service for this visit. 10/10 would recommend her and rebook her

Our scheduled pet sitter canceled and in desperation, I searched the internet and found Rover. I sent out my request and in minutes James responded. I was instantly relieved. He came over to visit us before leaving for vacation to meet us and our pets. James administered medication and took wonderful care of our 4 cats and dog. We are super grateful for all the help and services James provided us. We will definitely rebook again!!!

Sylvie provided great care for our cat Mucca, keeping her happy and entertained while we were away for a pretty long time. She was very quick to respond to schedule and also made sure to share a detailed review card for each visit. We were lucky to have Sylvie watch Mucca and will be reaching out to her for future care!

Sarah couldn’t have been more wonderful with our pup! She was so responsive, considerate, professional, and caring. She was right on time, took care of all of our dog’s needs, played and snuggled, sent great pictures and updates, and overall we just felt so happy and confident leaving our dog in her care!!

Very Happy with Morgan and her visits with Trinity. Absolutely wonderful! she took amazing care of my cat while I was away — sending regular updates, photos, and making sure everything was exactly as I’d asked. Trinity felt super comfortable and well cared for the entire time. Morgan was always prompt, dependable, and always communicated promptly, which gave me great peace of mind. I came home to a happy pet and a tidy house — couldn’t ask for more! I highly recommend Morgan to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter. Thank You!!

Erin is a fantastic sitter. She was incredibly helpful for the two weeks we had her provide drop-in visits for. She communicated well. We loved the pictures and are so glad all three of our cats had such excellent care. She even took our garbage down to the street for trash day which was absolutely above and beyond. We came home to three well cuddled, well-fed, and happy kitties. We would absolutely use her services again in the future.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
