“Jennifer was exceptional! This was the first time we had left our dog with a dog sitter. She went above and beyond to take care of his special needs and gave him such good care and attention as seen through all her wonderful and very much appreciated communications. Her dog Maya is a sweetheart and no doubt also provided fun companionship to Fin. We can not thank her enough for her genuine kindness, attention to detail, and overall wonderful care. Fin was on a doggy vacation staying with Jennifer and Maya. Thank you Jennifer!!”

“Christina was amazing with our granddogger, Roxie. Roxie is elderly and has special needs and Christina handled all of her needs with care and compassion. It's nice to know that we can go away and leave Roxie in good hands. I highly recommend Christina.”

She was in tuned to how our girl was feeling and we could see the happiness on Maizy’s face in the pics. Rachel reached out with food questions when needed. We seriously could not have asked for a better vacation for our Maizy girl! Highly recommend Rachael! Hopr the secret doesn’t spread too fast so we can book Rachael again!”

“Baxter had such a great stay with Anne, we love her. This was my first time boarding him, he's a nervous but very social young rescue. He had so much fun playing with Anne's dogs and was so comfortable with Anne. There is a beautiful yard and a very comfortable house they have the run of. I got lots of pictures and updates! We'll definitely be boarding here again!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs pretty much my whole life. I grew up with three dogs, all boxers with giant personalities. I’ve been watching/walking my neighbors dog since I was 13 years old. I recently moved to Portland, ME from San Diego. I am very responsible and would like to think I’m easy to talk to. So don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions before booking! I’m currently working for the United States Coast Guard. I work on 48-hour shifts, meaning I will be home for 48 hours at a time, as well as weekends (including Friday during the day). I have no other obligations outside of work besides taking care of your dog! I am very easy to coordinate with and want to make sure I can accommodate to you or your families needs to make the whole process as easy as possible! I unfortunately don’t have a fenced yard. However, I am a very active person. Like mentioned earlier, my only obligation is your pet. Whether it’s going on a hike, walking on a beach, meeting new friends at the dog park, etc. I will provide the necessary exercise/potty requirements needed. I can cater to crate-trained dogs as well. I have a spacious 1 bedroom apartment in a quiet neighborhood where everything is free-game, as well as a nice deck to sun bathe.

“Ryan was great with Junior! He communicates well and clearly likes dogs. He’s also really punctual so it makes the pick up and drop off seamless.”

“Bee had a fun time at Hannah’s! This was my first time using a Rover sitter for my dog, and Hannah made me feel at ease about the whole process. She made sure to ask all the important questions to prepare for Bee’s visit, and sent pictures every day to update me on how Bee was doing. I would definitely request Hannah again for dog sitting - she did a wonderful job handling all the energy of my 8 month old pup and made her feel comfortable being away from home.”

“Lauren and her son are so great with our dog we wonder if chexmix even wants to leave. She’s very responsible and responsive and we will continue to book with her!”

About: I know the answer to both sides of that question; having gone years without a pet, and then falling in love with a rolly, romping little pug who my partner and I were blessed to have 16 1/2 years. When we lost him, our hearts were broken, (and still are), and our home less rowdy and happy. Knowing I could never replace him, I've decided to open my home to those pups (and some cats) who need a place to camp out while moms, dads and families are away. And that's why I'm here on Rover. I work from home nearly every day and when not, there are cameras to monitor my four-legged visitors and I'm in to let your baby out during the day without fail. I live just off Portland's Eastern Promenade with plenty of room for walks and play. I'm a professional type with a background as a veterinary technician, (during college and a while afterward). The sweeter and more cuddly your baby is, all the better because I love doggy hugs, playing catch and babying friendly, non-aggressive dogs. Feel free to send me a note with any questions! *Please note that rates are based on the portion that the Rovver platform acquires from the fee paid by the customer. The platform takes a healthy amount from sitters and unfortunately, I must factor that in to what I charge for services. :( I have had and cared for dogs most of my life. I have a background as a veterinary technician and caregiver as well as volunteering for shelters and adoption programs. Whether sitting in your home or mine, I'm extremely attentive to established schedules like feeding time, medication schedules and the like. (I don't accept a lot of client site house sitting but when I do, I'm pretty tidy and often like spending time doing small house chores, so you'll never come back to a home more messy than you left it, and likely a bit cleaner. I love giving attention to dogs, (labs, goldens and pugs especially!). Clean/well groomed pets pretty much get the run of the house when it comes to hanging out on the sofa and, maybe even the bed. But your preferences for crating and sleep/rest time, like everything else will be strictly followed.

“Annie was incredible with our dogs, as was her communication with us throughout their stay. We look forward to working with her in the future and I'm so sure the dogs will be excited to see her again!”

“This is the second time we have used Michal and her family and they are the best! They alway take great care of our pup and are great at communicating and flexible on drop off and pick up times. I highly recommend them!”

“Anderson took great care of my senior dog Jake. Jake has been accustomed to being in his own house with a yard and a house sitter so I was concerned with his first boarding experience in many years. Anderson connected with Jake right away and it was clear through his updates that Jake was in good hands.”

“This was our first time using Rover and Harrison was wonderful! We got pictures and updates throughout Bruschi's entire stay with Harrison. When we picked up Bruschi - he was happy and well adjusted!!”

“Andy has fallen in love. When he returned home after this last stay he whined at the door, wanting to go back because he missed Kate. We were a bit nervous about leaving him for a longer time, since he has stayed only with family members before. But when we dropped him off he remembered his previous overnight stay with Kate and was eager and excited. He bounded up her stairs without looking back, which set our minds at rest, and his stay went well. His physical needs are simple to meet, but what was most important to us was that he not feel that we were abandoning him. Instead, he had fun! We are happy and relieved to have found such a good person to leave Andy with when a need arises in the future. Kate does a perfect job!”

About: Hello! Owner of one dog (Gus) currently, experienced with multiple at a time. Gus and I would love to welcome your pup into our routine! Long city walks and park time are a daily occurrence for us :) I work for myself most times and in the evening two days a week. I always have days free for exercise and play. Schedule is flexible around your pups requirements. I live in an apartment in the West End of Portland, close to parks and quiet streets for walks. Also open to staying at your place if your dog is more comfortable in their own home.

“My dog Molly had such a great time spending the week with Lucy and Ike! Throughout the process they showed they cared very much for my furball by sending updates on how she was doing and I immediately felt like the pup was in safe hands when I met them.”

Portland pet parents share their Rover experiences
Rose took great care of our pup and had a lot of patience with her anxiety being at a new place! Rose sent tons of pics and updates, which we loved!

Shannon was a great sitter for our dog, Bruce! Bruce seemed to have a great time spending the day with her. Would definitely recommend and use Shannon again as a sitter!

Claudia and Ilan are the absolute best! They sent so wonderful updates throughout their weekend with our senior dog, Eydie that always put me at ease! They were so sweet and silly with her, I will recommend Claudia and Ilan to everyone!

I couldn’t be happier with Winston’s care while I was away on vacation. Great communication and wonderfully attentive.

Lauren was great! I got pictures and updates and my pup came home happy as ever. I would definitely use her again!

Kathleen & Dylan took great care of our pup! They sent some great photos and it seemed like our dog really enjoyed her time with them!

Nicole was amazing with my guy with special care instructions. She was responsive, sent tons of pictures, and took great care of Klaus!

Viva once again provided a second home for our sweet boy. He trusts her implicitly as do we. She’s super conscientious about making sure he’s comfortable, active and well loved. And she always sends us the best photo updates!

Bee had a fun time at Hannah’s! This was my first time using a Rover sitter for my dog, and Hannah made me feel at ease about the whole process. She made sure to ask all the important questions to prepare for Bee’s visit, and sent pictures every day to update me on how Bee was doing. I would definitely request Hannah again for dog sitting - she did a wonderful job handling all the energy of my 8 month old pup and made her feel comfortable being away from home.

Michal and Derek were amazing hosts for my dog, Jade. They communicated updates regularly and were prompt with any questions.

Our first time using Rover and Andrew was amazing! His initial onboarding call was very thorough and really put me at ease. Willow and Briar had an excellent weekend, and Andrew was great with photos and communication throughout their stay. Thank you Andrew!

Such a lifesaver to find a great sitter for Finny since our move to Portland! Would highly recommend Emily!!!

Karli was the best rover ever! We boarded our dog with her over the weekend while we got married on peaks island. Karli was easy to reach and she kept us with timely updates. She went over the top even bringing our dog on the ferry to meet us. I highly recommend her to anyone in the area looking for a kind, nice, and communicative rover.

Lucero & Ikenna took care of my senior dog Jake. They were communicative, understanding and flexible. After a meet and greet, I felt very comfortable leaving Jake with them and knowing he was in good hands.

We were so lucky to find Harrison!! He took wonderful care of Kiwi for a long weekend, and we were relieved to know she was in such great hands. He was very responsive to communications, updated us with pics, and even made us aware of a spot he noticed on her paw (which we knew about but hadn't thought to mention to him). We also appreciated his flexibility about pick up time when we were traveling back home. So grateful for his great care and highly recommend him!

Rebecca took great care of my pup while I was away, checking in often with pictures & updates! Highly recommend!

Anderson took great care of my senior dog Jake. Jake has been accustomed to being in his own house with a yard and a house sitter so I was concerned with his first boarding experience in many years. Anderson connected with Jake right away and it was clear through his updates that Jake was in good hands.

Kylie and John were absolutely amazing with Fenway! From the moment I dropped him off, I felt completely at ease knowing he was in great hands. She sent me regular photo updates, and it was clear he was happy, relaxed, and having a great time. I could tell he got plenty of love, attention, and playtime. Fenway will definitely be staying with them again in the future. Highly recommend!

Cally was awesome! Our pup had a much harder time adjusting than expected, but she was patient, understanding, and communicative. She spent so much time and energy keeping him engaged and helping him feel comfortable and safe. She was also very willing to provide tips and advice. Our dog really seemed to enjoy his time with Cally and her own dog, and we’re so grateful for the care she provided!
