About: New to Rover, but not to pet care :) I grew up with animals great and small. I've had dogs of all sizes, cats, horses, snakes, mice, chickens, and one skunk. All of my dogs are rescues, so I'm no stranger to reactive dog care and I'm well-versed in positive reinforcement training styles. I love all animals, but I've got a real soft spot for the senior babies. I recently lost my own 16 year old pittie, so I'm comfy in a space that may require a little extra effort. I'm a weightlifter in my free time, so I can easily help any size senior with any mobility issues 💜 I'm starting on Rover after losing my 13 year career in analysis to federal funding issues. My schedule is quite flexible and free, though I do have to be home at night to care for my own four-legged family members While I'd love to offer care in my home, I do have my own pets and introducing new babies to the mix can be stressful for all involved. In your home, I will love on your fur babies as if they were my own. They'll have a cuddle buddy (if they choose), engaging playtime, and treats (if you choose). I also spend quite a lot of time at the gym I own in downtown Charlottesville, so if you'd be comfortable with field trips, I'd happily take them out for some extra socialization.

About: What sets me apart is the level of love, patience, and personalized care I give every pet. I take the time to learn each pet’s routine, personality, and needs so they feel comfortable and safe while you’re away. I’m experienced with puppies who need consistency, potty breaks, playtime, and basic routine reinforcement, as well as senior pets who may need a gentler pace, extra patience, medication support, or additional comfort. I also provide regular updates and photos so pet parents always know their furry family members are happy and well cared for. I’m able to help out on Monday-Friday or Saturdays and Sundays. Let me know what fits your needs and I will be more then happy to accommodate! I focus on making pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved. Especially in their own home. I do not accept boarding as my currently home is renting.

About: I am comfortable with all kinds of dogs and needs. I personally care for a GSD and a Heeler mix, and am comfortable with rambunctious and large dogs. Both of my dogs practice loose leash walking, and I love using our walks as time to tire their brains as well as their bodies. I can give medications, including subq and other injections. And I’m working on becoming a certified trainer, but for now I do not offer training services. I work a few part time gigs that change with the seasons. I have lots of flexibility to meet the needs of your pets. I generally do not go out of town during major holidays. I have lived on estates as a property manager, and ran my own home repair business for several years. I’m good at handling emergencies, and enjoy fixing things when I have the opportunity

About: I grew up with dogs, cats, goats, chickens, pigs, peacocks. You name it. I’ve been a huge fan of animals since I can remember. I’m super active outside and love taking pups out on hikes or walks. My last dog had to take meds so I’m also extra sensitive to pups that may need more present care. I’ve dog sat and house sat for many years before and just recently decided to give rover a try. I’m also a photographer so pics of your sweet pea will be guaranteed! I’m a photographer so my schedule varies. Sometimes I’m on a shoot or at home editing. I work part time at a restaurant wed-Friday so am unavailable those evenings. I am generous with my love with pets if they want that. If they are shy I will absolutely listen to what they need and let them warm up to me at their own pace. I am clean and respectful of others’ space and strive to make sure your sweet pup gets the activities they deserve.

About: I’m a true pet lover through and through! I grew up with animals and have always had at least two dogs in the house, each with their own personalities and needs—so I’m very comfortable providing attentive, individualized care. I’m currently a proud dog mom to a sweet 4-year-old Golden Retriever and a sassy 4-year-old cat, so I understand firsthand how important it is to trust someone with your pets. I offer drop-in visits, walks, and overnight stays, and I’m happy to tailor care to your pet’s routine and personality. Whether your pet needs playtime, cuddles, or just a calm, reliable presence, I’m here to help. I know your fur babies are family, and I can’t wait to give them all the love and attention they deserve! Pet care is already a natural part of my daily routine. I plan my days around making sure pets are cared for, whether that’s walks, feeding, playtime, or just giving them attention and companionship. I have a flexible schedule, which allows me to consistently show up for check-ins, walks, or overnight stays without feeling rushed. I’m used to structuring my day around animals’ needs, so adding additional pets into my routine feels very seamless. I make it a priority to stick to each pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, because I know consistency is important for their comfort and well-being. Whether it’s early morning walks, midday visits, or evening care, I’m happy to accommodate what works best for you and your pet. I provide care directly in my client’s home to ensure pets stay comfortable in their familiar environment and maintain their normal routine. During each visit, I follow all instructions closely regarding feeding, walks, medication, playtime, and any special care needs. I make sure pets are safe, well-exercised, and given plenty of attention and affection while their owners are away. I also pay attention to keeping the home tidy and secure—cleaning up after pets as needed, refreshing water, and making sure doors and gates are properly closed. I understand how important trust is when someone is caring for your pet and entering your home, so I prioritize reliability, respect, and clear communication with regular updates.

About: I have worked with several different breeds, and personalities of dogs. I also have experience with older dogs and being sensitive to their needs as they age. Providing a calm and reasurring presence to my canine friends, whether they are excited to see me or feeling a little stressed with their owner gone. I try to give my animal companions the best quality of life possible for them. I really love what I do. I currently work part time so I am able to give lots of time spending with furry friends. About: I’ve been around dogs my whole life! I grew up with one, have extensive dog-sitting experience for friends, family, and paying clients, and even volunteered as a dog walker at the SPCA. I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes, ages, and energy levels, and I always take the time to make each one feel safe and happy. Whether your pup needs a long walk, a calm companion, or reliable in-home care, I’ll treat them with the same love and attention I’d give my own. I have a very flexible schedule since I’m not currently working, which allows me to provide consistent, reliable care whenever you need it. I’m home full-time and can often accommodate same-day or short-notice requests. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. Whether I’m walking your dog, dropping in for a visit, or house sitting, I create a calm, secure, and happy environment tailored to their needs. I’m careful, attentive, and trustworthy, so you can have peace of mind knowing your furry family member is in loving, responsible hands.

About: I currently have a 12 year old chihuahua that I’ve had since 9th grade. Growing up my mother would take in rescues and find them homes if they did not get along with my chihuahua. My mother also cleaned houses for a living and I would go along and help her, while also helping her pet sit for those same clients. I am a gentle, loving, passionate care giver for any pet in my care. I am active and always available to give a pet the care they need when their loved one is away! I am in school full-time so my schedule varies. Having an older dog, she cannot go for the long walks I would like to take her on, so let me help both of us and take your pup out to explore the world! Animals of all shapes, handicaps, personalities, and more are always welcome!! This is an opportunity for extra fun. Thank you for inquiring for my help. Always appreciated. I have my own pet so I understand the necessary accommodations they need on a daily basis. I like to set aside enough time daily to provide the same care I provide my dog Abbey to my client’s pets. I enjoy thorough instruction for your pet’s needs so that I can provide the best care for your pet! I will treat your home as if it were my in-laws home, so very nicely haha 😆

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 532 sitters on Rover offering Dog Walking across Porters. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Whether you want a solo or group walk depends on your dog's personality. Solo walks can be beneficial for dog parents with reactive dogs, puppies, or dogs who are anxious around unfamiliar animals. Many dog walkers on Rover offer private, one-on-one walking services.

Group walks are a good fit for social dogs who enjoy structured walks. If your dog prefers the energy of a group stroll, ask your dog walker about group walks in your Porters. Since all dog walkers are local, they may have a neighborhood dog who is a good walking companion to yours.

For dog walking services, you can request a report card update with specifics about your dog’s walk. Report cards require photos and can include a map of the walking route , total walk time, poop and pee breaks, and distance traveled, so you know exactly where your dog has been walking in Porters.

Got specific details you'd like the dog walker to include? Message them in the app before your dog’s walk begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every walker on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in Porters. On Rover:

  • 100% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
